Fair play to Warrington. First game of the "proper" stages of the FA Cup and we already have a giant killing. That's the magic of the cup.

Liverpool vs Chelsea game is a good one to kick off the weekends football.

And the bus is parked with the handbrake on.

Didn't get to watch the United - Palace game today, but i'm pleased with the win, and from what I can tell, we should have won by more...

We really should've, but a wins a win and up to sixth now, well done to Burnley on getting that first league win..

Also well done to Dover, Chester and Warrington on their cup upsets, Basingstoke take Telford to a replay..

No we shouldn't, we created nothing clear cut in the first half Palace actually could well have gone in 1 up!! Slow build up, unbalanced team selection:confused: Mata (sub goal!) and Herrera nowhere to be seen and at home against Crystal Palace really??

We won!!

QPR v City on now, QPR tasking it to them and had two Austin goals disallowed in a minute, Austin really looks a threat..

..and its 1-0 QPR, guess who scored?!

Well they do say actually watching it makes for a more realistic opinion.

I hope QPR hang on now after Austin had his goal ruled out for Hart's bad clearance.

EDIT: Aguero scored again whilst typing... Just noticed that Southampton have the best goal difference in English football even though teams in the lower tiers have played more games.

They've only conceded 5 goals in 11 games. You wouldn't expect that from a top team like Chelsea or City. Never mind Southampton. Now that, deserves a round of applause.

All minutes silences at the games this weekend were brilliantly observed has to be said, loved that segment Sky Sports showed on pro footballers who were in battle in WW1 in the build up to the West Brom game 👍

Swansea 2-1 up against Arsenal with less than 10 to go, Cmon Swansea!!!!!

And we win!!!!! We have beaten Arsenal!!

Arsene Wenger please retire at the end of the season, thank you

Tottenham are seriously lacking a leader in that team. The back 4 today were poor, Rose is a winger not a left back. Fazio can't make a clearance.

Lloris is carrying Spurs more than Bale ever did, which is depressing.

Naughton is not fit to play at this level.

The only positive from today is that Tom Carroll will come back and improve our midfield next season, can't see much coming from what we've got atm.

A big part of me doesn't want Spurs to get into the Europa for next season, keep Pochettino on and let him buy well in the summer so he can build the team up.
Then go out all guns blazing next season focusing solely on the league with no Europa distractions.

Or win the Europa League, finishing wherever in the Premier League and qualify for Champions League, give Spurs some more buying power aswell.

Arsenal have lost nine points from winning positions so far this season....NINE POINTS!!, and still only November!, if they had those nine points they would have 26 points and be second in the table....

FA Cup 2nd round draw: Wrexham (CON) vs Stevenage (L1) / Maidstone (ISM)

I smell an upset and a ticket to round three.

So in case you haven't heard David Moyes is back in Football management with Real Sociedad who just outside the relegation places in La Liga, I'm sure all the United supporters on this thread wish him the best of luck on his return 👍

So what's everyone's opinion about the Ched Evans thing, video was released yesterday of him saying how sorry he was for cheating on his girlfriend and how he can be a positive influence in Football...

No law should prevent him from playing, but every club should do the right thing and not sign him. That would be a positive step in football not tolerating / accepting this kind of behaviour.

Lee Hughes went on to have a prolific career.
Luke McCormick has returned to the game.
Marlon King made a comeback.

Good for them. I'd have hated it if they signed for Wrexham though.

Sheffield United have held preliminary talks with Ched Evans. The fans of that club need to make their voices heard and let that boardroom know that they will not tolerate it. If that fails, vote with your feet and wallet. That is how this should work with any team he signs for.

Also, just for hypocrisy, Mike Tyson is a major celebrated athlete today despite his conviction for rape back in the early 1990s; five year sentence with an additional four on probation and he was out after just three. He came back to box and over time, most people have forgotten the furore.

To follow on from this, Evans is now training with Sheffield United.

BBC

As a result of this however, three club patrons have stepped down and the reverse shirt sponsor has threatened to pull the plug on their deal should the Blades approach to sign him. In fairness, Sheffield United were his previous employers and being a professional footballer is his trade so to maintain fitness is fair. Nigel Clough says that it is "nowhere near decided" if the club will reemploy him; this indicates that the club are at least considering it.

But as I suggested in my previous post, people need to vote with their feet and wallet and fortunately some people have which is good to see. Interested how @Famine views this situation as a Wednesday supporter and resident in the Sheffield catchment area, at least.

Again, no law should stop him from playing but clubs should evaluate the situation and realise the impact of signing a convicted rapist sends out whether you agree with his conviction or not. True, he still insists he was wronged and has admitted neither fault nor guilt and his particular case highlights the variable of alcohol in sexual assault trials but that is for a separate thread and any criticisms about his conviction and release are to be aimed at the MOJ and not the FA or Sheffield United or any potential employers, football or not.

It would be absolutely suicidal for them to sign him. And I made that comment on Twitter earlier after Charlie Webster had resigned, so it seemed slightly (if not obviously) prophetic.

There is nothing whatsoever that can or should be done to prevent Evans from continuing his occupation after serving his sentence - it's the job he trained to do and any employer who wants to sign him should be free to do so - as with any other person released from prison (providing they are not on any exclusionary registers or legal limitations - Rolf won't be doing any children's parties when he's released), but the business of football is PR and advertising.

Evans was and probably still is a very talented footballer whose presence in Sheffield United's team was only ever good for them and nearly saw them promoted from League 1 ahead of us - his conviction at the end of the season killed their run-in and we overhauled them - so what he can do on the pitch is something that will undoubtedly enhance their reputation... but at the cost of sponsors, business partners, investors and fans turning away in their thousands. If it were Wednesday, I wouldn't spend a single penny on them again until he left - possibly much longer than that. He will be booed at the start of every match by home and away fans, as will the club. United's owners and club heirarchy will be tainted as rape-enablers or rape-apologists for the rest of their careers and indeed lives - and while I'm sure Nigel won't want his obituary to focus on how he's Brian's son, I doubt he'll want the path he beat for himself to include that little nugget.

It's a stunning piece of obliviousness to think this convicted rapist can ever be a marketable asset again. Not quite as stunning a piece of obliviousness as I heard from the Sheffield United Fan Club chairman when he gave an interview on Radio Five Live about it in June. I nearly crashed the car out of astonishment.

What did the SUFC (same acronym, ha) chairman say?

Edit: Ooh, I just saw this posted from a few weeks back on my Wrexham fan club's board.

Sheffield United fans chanted their support for convicted rapist Ched Evans on Saturday night, in the club’s first game since their former player was released from jail.
Almost half the travelling fans at Bradford City’s Valley Parade voiced their support for the 25-year-old, who left Wymott Prison on Friday morning, as co-Chairmen Kevin McCabe and Jim Phipps continue to suggest he might by re-employed by the club.
At Bradford’s Forster Square station, 20 fans chanted: ‘He does what he wants, he does what he wants, Chedwyn Evans, he does what he wants.’ Police took no action.

I absolutely hope that this was and is a minority of fans.

I honestly can't remember. It was borderline sickening as he kept talking about how instrumental Evans was to the promotion push that season and how his absence really dealt a blow to the club (missing the point of WHY he was absent), referring to the offence as "the alleged rape" and how he'd be found not guilty on appeal.

'Scotland v England International Friendly' on STV next Tuesday night... surely 'international friendly' is a double misnomer?

Indeed, more of a 'local thrashing' than 'international friendly'. :sly:
The current England team isn't that bad, is it?

Also, good to know that FIFA have been cleared of any wrongdoing in the Qatar World Cup bidding process - by FIFA 👍

Reading some news reports, I feel that there's a strong possibility that Bin Hammam bribed FIFA to get himself out of trouble for bribing... FIFA.

BREAKING: Fifa's announced report 'erroneous' according to... the damn investigator himself

Can this get any more pathetic?
