Funny you mention Chase and Dylan, I wish all these up and coming drivers going through the NASCAR ranks would stop skipping steps and moving up too fast.. Kyle Larson is in Sprint Cup already and Chase and Dylan completely skipped the trucks to get to Nationwide. Austin Dillon takes a lot of flack, but at least he continues to improve his craft by climbing the ladder slowly and not trying to skip a rung..

I'm gonna guess money is the main motivator for both since Dylan Brings sponsorship money from Rockstar and Chase had Aarons (that or because he's the first Hendrick development driver in a long while and with Jeff Gordon on the verge of possible retirement, they are trying to move him up as quickly as possible).

Times are changing sadly. Not too long ago a 25 year old driver was probably a rookie in the Sprint Cup Series. Now they're 'verterans'.

Joey Logano is really the first of such drivers, and you see what type of attitude he has brought along. They respect little if anything. A product of earning very little, but having so much praise and accolades thrown at you.

Its happening even in the stick and ball sports. Before the probowl in football was something players were proud of, now they dont take it seriously at all, same with the NBA dunk competition etc, players dont feel they have to give back to the fans or anyone, but old school players like Jordan who played years of college ball took it seriously. Unless theres a price tag on something they dont care.
 
I don't really have a problem with drivers skipping the truck series considering plenty of drivers have done so without issue, Jimmie Johnson being one notable driver.

While age doesn't help, it's not like older people aren't just as disrespectful. Just look at Robby Gordon, the guy is a 45 year old baby.

I also feel that both Joey and Kyle were rushed by the teams they were with and not by their own choice. Gibbs wasn't planning on bringing Joey up so soon, but Stewart pretty much forced them too and I'd imagine Target was getting frustrated with Montoya being less than spectacular.

On the flip side, they also get a lot of criticism before they even get a chance to prove themselves and every little mistake gets blown to epic proportions.

Exactly what I've been saying with Joey. Had Tony stayed for another season, Logano would've likely been in a full time Nationwide ride and would have developed more thoroughly. The same would likely go for Larson without the pressure from Target, although he at least had a full season of Nationwide under his belt so he has it slightly better.

Which is very sad. You can't make rookie mistakes anymore without being chewed up by the public at large.
 
Plus, the Truck Series wasn't around until the mid-90s and it hasn't really ever been used as a developmental series as most drivers were doing the "ABC" program of ARCA, Busch as it was known at the time, and Cup.

We all, from time to time, joke about the ARCA series being a crashfest, but it is a series filled with lots of inexperienced drivers, so mistakes are almost certainly going to happen at most races. Of all the races I saw last year, the one I enjoyed the most was the race at the Illinois Fairgrounds. I can't seem to find a video of the finish though.

As far as I can remember, only four cup drivers have ever had full time seasons in Trucks (the latest being Austin Dillon) way before coming to Cup so I don't think the Trucks are that necessary.
 
Pocono will get some face time as the ARCA race at Pocono is on deck. Good luck to all teams and drivers.
 
He's only doing so because he needs to practice shifting more. He already blew up a tranny in testing and sure as hell doesn't want to do it again tomorrow.
 
I know, he hadn't raced at the track before.

It was still hilarious to see that he nearly had the entire field lapped at one point before those last cautions. Even had a penalty for merging too soon out of the pits and kept the lead by 5 seconds. :lol:
 
ARCA's on right now from Michigan. On lap 32 of 100 laps, driver #98 (Mitchell) leads the race.
 
CBS Sports Network will debut ARCA racing as the series will race at Elko Speedway in Elko, Minnesota. Nothing says racin' like short track action on a Saturday night. A driver named J.J. Haley made history recently by becoming the youngest ARCA pole winner of an ARCA race at just the tender age of 15.
 
Just discovered that I have CBS Sports Network and I was pleasantly surprised to see that they have Blancpain Endurance Series Highlights that are two hours long (as opposed to the one hour ones we used to get from Speed) and DTM. In about an Hour, the next ARCA race from Winchester.

FOX Sports 1 shown the ARCA round from... the track I've always known as Indianapolis Raceway Park. I won't spoil the winner, so visit www.arcaracing.com for results on that one. The next round of the 2014 ARCA season will take place at Pocono. Yep- what Turn 4? The Tricky Triangle will be ready to test these ARCA drivers.
 
The 2014 ARCA championship concluded this past weekend. Your champion is Mason Mitchell. All the 20-year old had to do was take the green flag at Kansas Speedway on this past Friday night to become champ. All congratulations to this young 'un on winning the 2014 championship. Spencer Gallagher won the final race (the ARCA 98.9), and Mason Mitchell finished 5th.

Again- congratulations to Mason Mitchell on winning the 2014 ARCA Championship.
