You don't have to wait for the sim racing market to produce a steering wheel to fit your exact needs. You can use any steering wheel rim from any manufacturer with a 6 x 70 mm bolt pattern. One of my wheels is a MOMO rim and I love it!
Oh I’m well aware of that, of course. But it doesn’t look like a production car wheel. The market has plenty of formula and sportscar racing inspired rims, but nothing that looks straight out of a VW Golf, for example.

Quick question for the folks here. I am currently using the P1 V2 CSL wheel with my DD Pro base. I like the wheel a lot, the 300mm size really works for me and the it is a solid wheel for the money. Ideally i'd like more direct buttons for GT7, the standard GT DD wheel is too small, what's the general consensus on the DD Pro Extreme wheel and am I right and saying there is no way to purchase it retail as a stand alone product?

Not avaialble separately from the DD+ and not supported on the DD Pro unless they add a change for it in FW, which has been a long time maybe w no timeline

Buying the DD+ kit is the only way

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh ok. THanks for that, in that case i'll keep what I have. I just like the idea of knobs etc for BB and TC etc etc, makes navigation easier but not worth a huge dollar upgrade.

The Prosche Vision GT has those but not round

I was on the DD Pro, pretty happy w it but upgraded to the DD+ 2 yrs ago - so yes a pricey way to go but its really a huge upgrade in performance and the sweet spot of the line IMO - more then enough power, great FFB and FF so no regrets

Yeah I have a real life sports car I want to start "making my own", which is man maths for frivilous spending, so want to limit my spend on the sim rig to keep the wife from retaliatory handbag purchases.
That's hysterical!

I factor in handbags when I budget for big purchases for myself as to not get caught blindsided.

During the Spa 24 in iRacing my DD Pro suddenly started to exhibit a "grainy" feeling through the wheel. It was absolutely baking in my game room at the time with the UK heatwave so I'm hoping it was a temporary heat problem.

It hasn't occurred since but fear my wheelbase may be on it's way out at some point soon. I've had it since release in 2022.

Need suggestion for bigger rim/wheel for dd+. Currently, using formula v2.5 for 2 years and wheel is great, but i would like to try something in spirit of GT racing and around 30cm. they say size matter so... any suggestion for third party?

I'm pretty happy with their CSL GT3 wheel (used to be Mclaren, now non-branded). It's 30cm and has 2 rotaries, rocker switches and buttons, also a dual clutch. Not a premium wheel, but build quality is pretty good and I don't have an issue with rocker-style shift paddles.

Rather than podium 911 gt3 r?
I mean, it's up to personal taste regarding the rim itself. Podium hub is amazing as it is, so it's just the rim that you have to decide on.

The thing I love about the Endurance rim is the grip, it's some kind of a rubber finish which is perfect for bare hands and amazing for gloves of any type, so it's versatile. If you go the Porsche route, you choose between the leather which will slide around in gloves, and the suede, for which you have to use gloves if you want it to last more than a month. And also it's thinner than the Endurance rim, so again, personal taste :)

Have a look at Leoxz wheels. Been using their XGT Pro for a while and it's great, slightly under 300mm though at 295. Excellent build quality with a mix of aluminium and carbon.
They also make their own QR2 that allows it to be used on PlayStation and draw power from the wheelbase. Due to the firmware they use the button usage is a bit limited on PS. I use on PC as well and it's superb.

Hey fellas, random question here. Looking at selling some of the Fanatec stuff I don’t use anymore and found this piece in a box with miscellaneous parts I haven’t looked at in three years. I can’t remember what this is or if it’s important to include with any of my old gear if I sell it. Anyone recall what this is? Seems like a spacer or cover that came with a wheel that you don’t actually need, but for the life of me I can’t remember. It’s metal not plastic, best I can tell, which is what gave me pause.

Maybe the protective cover that goes over the wheelbase connection to steering wheel (before QR2 came out)?

That is correct. One came with my V2.5 wheel before assembly.

Might be the protective sleeve for the pins on the wheelbase side hub if delivered without QR?

Thanks, guys. I figured it was something like that but the fact it is metal and not plastic threw me off. My McLaren wheel, for example, has a black plastic sleeve/cover that protects the pins on the back of the wheel. But my DD+ base came originally with QR1, so yeah, maybe that was it. I knew it wasn't something I or anyone would ever use when the setup is put together and you're actually driving, but it was just bugging me I couldn't remember what the piece even was LOL

The standstill agreement piece is the most telling part of the whole situation. Banks don't agree to those unless they're seriously worried about recovering their money through normal channels. It buys time but it's not a fix. The real question is whether the restructuring actually addresses the core issue, which was trying to grow too fast on debt financing. Hardware development cycles are long and the margins on wheel bases aren't what people think they are once you factor in R&D and warranty claims.

They keep releasing new products that do seem competitive and they remain a prime HW manufacturer for console players. So this should save them as long as product quality remains. Did you notice they pricing strategy adjustments earlier this year? More aggressive on some products, price increases on others.

Is there some recent development other than pricing which prompted your post? We’re almost 2 years in now…

Personally I think Corsair has dialed back the investment, wanting some payback so the Fanatec business unit is running on its own mostly

They still have big issues with the supply chain, configuration mgmt and quality control, along w major SW development weakness, all areas where Corsair claimed to be bringing expertise…

Still much more to be done IMO, so do they have the resources to overcome before user frustration spoils the party?

I think I'm going to have to contact support about this V3 rim. It's just got a mind of it's own. I'm playing Assetto Corsa today, pause the race to get up and stretch my back out for awhile, but the rim keeps displaying speed and gear changes and rev LED's. I go back to the race again but the wheel display is totally out of synch with the race. It's still running the race from where it was paused I guess.

Finished the race but instead of the wheel going back to blank it's showing the three yellow LED's on the far left of the gauge. Hooked the V 2.5 up just to make sure it wasn't a game issue but it performed normal through out the actual driving part and being paused and also when the game is finished.

I don't have anymore time tonight but Wednesday night I'm going to run the V 2.5 on LeMans Ultimate and see if the LED's and the display works. If it does then that means the V3 has been the problem the entire time with that game.

Quick question, I am currently using the CSL P1 V2 wheel, I only play Gran Turismo. Considering trying the standard GT DD Pro wheel primarily for the direct controls on the wheel for TC, BB and general navigation of the menus. They are fairly cheap to pick up and give them a whirl but I am concerned about the small shift paddles, is there a recommended mod that increases the size f the paddles a bit?

Been so long in dev I guess they couldn’t wait any longer to release, whatever their haptics strategy is, if they have one

Some people have commented mostly about spring or elastomer stiffness being too high and looking for alternatives so tuning the new stack seems a bit of a challenge

Supply is still limited but more is promised…tho not specified and no pre-orders yet so still production issues. Clutch production also missing a release date after performance issues

“Std” Haptics mounting is there so pick your own choice for now - so at least options

Anything from them would depend on using the new app to control and the app is still eating up dev time just to solve current problems so not soon…if ever

and the app would have to do as welll or better than using simhub, but would/should they include simhub compatability too?

Secret sauce would be haptics integrated w Full Force. A console version would need to depend on FW control from the base?

So the big challenges are mostly SW - not happening this year for sure - maybe an annoucement end of year if something is coming?

Just my thoughts…

Fanatec has market challenges as well

Now that Moza is coming in w the GT sponsorship and a planned PS compatable base, the premium end of the entry/mid level is being threatened. And Moza has a growing flight sim line that is getting noticed so a bigger revenue pie to draw on

So Fanatec really has to step up in the product line mgmt space to offer a competitive full line if that’s still their intent

Is the market growing still or leveling off?

While console prices have increased a lot, they are still the entry level vs a well equipped or loaded PC

Will console titles keep coming to drive that market?

more makers chasing a stable or shrinking market is not good for Fanatec - customer perception is becoming more important if they are not the only higher end choice as they have been in the past

They’re currently refreshing the podium line to compete on PCs (and likely the PS later), but they really need a good Podium wheel at the right price to excite

The BMW M4 and Bentley have not performed to expectations and continue to have SW/FW feature shortfalls - nice but costly and overly ambitious for the time from the old guard IMO

The CSL line is pretty well set for now but a bit of continued refinement wouldn’t hurt

But the CS line needs attention. The CS DD/+ is really solid, but really need a new pedal set for the CS range as the V3’s are really tired

A new CS wheel w a nice display wouldn’t hurt. The Formula V3 is ok but a bit meh as its mostly recycled bits

So lots to do and lots of uncerntainty - may you live in interesting times 😉

These are people who use a very low BRF and apply little force to the pedal face.
Here's how long the travel is with the four original springs and 45% BRF.
