Argentina did have a fairly easy draw. I don't expect Nigeria or Iran to cause them much trouble. Second place in the group is probably going to come down to Bosnia and Herzegovina vs. the winner of the Nigeria-Iran match.

I would hardly compare "not scoring" to "being invisible"... Messi was not invisible today, but not because he scored, but rather because he tried to play with the team, most of the time failing though.

Terrible game, if I had any doubts we will get knocked out by the first serious team we come across, this match cleared them all.

And we all remember what happened the last time Argentina played for the sake of one man ...

I fell asleep at half time so I missed Messi's goal. Fortunately, the BBC Sport website had it up and it's a good goal but not the best he's ever scored. Also, am I the only one that thinks Argentina should have scored more with Messi, Aguero, Di Maria and Higuain on for most of the second half?

On paper, probably. But paper doesn't mean much. Bosnia might not be as good as Argentina, but they were good enough to force line-up changes at the end of the first half.

If team performances accurately reflected the line-ups as they appear on paper, there would be no point holding the World Cup. To paraphrase Martin Brundle, the best team on the day won.

I think that most players were tired nearing the end of the game, Mascherano realized that and asked Sabella to make a substitution, and shortly afterwards (two, three minutes) Bosnia scored... We played the first half with five defenders (thank you Sabella ) and in the second half, with Higuaín and Gago on the pitch, we started playing better, but as I said, players were tired.

Still not the best of excuses, Argentina plain and simply sucked last night.

So far all of the big teams (barring Nederlands) looked quite average. Still have to see Germany, Portugal and Russia play but at this point its very hard to predict who will go deep in the tournament.

No psychic animals this year? Just asked my cat for a prediction.

@Liquid There seems to be a camel that has gotten 3 out of 3 results that it predicted correct so far and it's predicted Portugal for tonight. Apart from the 2 games below, it also predicted the Brazil game correctly but I can't seem to find that.

Yeah, Camie over there will be fired later today.

Everybody's trying to find the next Paul the Octopus

Germany Portugal on in half an hour, the lineups for both look awesome!

Ceremony is about to begin! :)

Quite a few Real Madrid players on this pitch here!

Muller penalty puts Germany 1-0 up!

2-0.

If Germany can keep this pace up, they will be a finalist for sure. Incredible.

And Pepe is sent off. What a dumbass.

Portugal have come close a few times but haven't been able to finish and with Pepe's red card Cammie's career seems to be over.

Brilliant header!

Pepe off!, no surprise there...

Typical behaviour there from my most hated footballer. What a plank.

He has always been a liability...

Pepe being Pepe.

And I thought Portugal had a chance against Germany...

Pepe is such a ****.

That camel did pick Portugal....

I hope they put João Pereira and Pepe on a plane back home tonight.

More than Suarez?

Suarez has changed his ways, never had a problem with him anyway, but Pepe is just a ****ing idiot.

3-0 Germany.

Come on Portugal, Cammie's career depends on this...
