I'm saying it for what it is: Croatia crashed and burned and Mexico deserved it more (and if you asked me tomorrow, I would say the same thing).
I wish Mexico good luck and am vouching for them against the Dutch

Oh I agree that Croatia was crap today, but I wouldn't stretch it further than that when you compare it to the Dutch effort. But we'll find out soon enough.
 
Yeah, I don't have high hopes against the Dutch... but I DON'T want an utter defeat like they did with the Spanish, that's for sure. That would be a particularly bad way for Mexico to leave the tourney. Especially after their performance so far.
 
This is great, as we Dutch aren't all that sure about playing against Mexico. All our analysts on tv prefered Croatia as the next round opponent. :lol:

And to clarify on your previous quote, yes I am bitter, as I basically stayed up all night to see both Australia and Croatia lose-terribly :(
The only team left for me to vouch is Italy, and they might even get out...

(N.B. My ancestry consists of these three nationalities, hence why I vouch for them...)

In the end it's just an empty tourney that is enjoyable to watch...:D

Awesome games to look forward to :D

What a great World Cup it's been so far... some brilliant games, and the really big names are playing well.

Now I don't have the distraction of wondering if England are going to turn up for once, I can sit back and enjoy the Tournament as a complete neutral, and just enjoy the football... quite an unusual feeling not to have an emotional attachment to any team (either positive or negative), but on reflection, it;s nice :)

I'm on holiday next week with my brother and nephew. We'll surely enjoy some good games over a few beers in the evenings.

Fred was level with the ball, perhaps even a bit behind. Even without external aids and just using the lines of the pitch, that Fred was perfectly onside.

Heading straight up North from where I live, and pretty much at the end of the longest street in the world, is a place called 'Holland Landing' - named after a guy called Holland who was from Holland (:crazy: - it gets worse, hold on) who basically ditched his wife and went off to work for the Brits, and later married a French girl (not too sure about that part) and had about ten kids . . . well, it's a bit of a long story.
Well, anyway, here I am on this side of the fabled landing, and it seems like I'm the only one (apart from another crazy Dutchman I spotted who had two flags on his car - one on either side - probably making up for the dearth of our beloved tri-color) who has the flag fluttering off the old jalopy.
Meanwhile - since Toronto is intensely multicultural, we have all kinds of other flags flying around - Greek flags, Italian flags, Argentina, Croatia - some people even flying a Canada flag alongside their 'home' flag, but no Dutch flags (except as I said, for me, and that other crazy.)
I'm getting glares, or the 'WTF is wrong with you?' look. Doesn't matter - I got to be proud of my heritage.
However - to be clear - there are tons of Hollanders in the area - if I was to only count my relatives! :lol: Look in the Toronto phone book and there's no lack of 'The amaaaaazing Dutch!' - from De Jongs to Van Langenbergs, they are all in there.
I think the majority of Dutch, though (including the million or so Canadian-born) are in Alberta. Don't ask me what they're doing there; probably growing potatoes and making schnapps.
Talking of which, now I would just love a glass of Graanjenever . . ..

Wow, we played like crap 2nd half-time.
The first half-time was equal, very difficult to play, you could cut a tension with a knife... We had the iniciative, but Mexico was good in defense and in backing our players.
From 70 minutes onwards, total collapse of defense system. Lack of concentration (how do you do that in so important match??!) and Marquez scores a header. I think we psychologically fell 6ft underground after that mistake and there was no way back. I am particularly mad at our mentality; all latin (Mexico, Uruguay, Costarica...) countries have that fighting mentality, defiance, they are eager to win, but Croats just stop in certain period and dont give a damn.
The only positive I can underline was Perišić, Srna and Rebić (until that stupid red card). Olić, Mandžukić, Modrić and Rakitić were invisible...
And Pletikosa, it is time for him to leave so Subašić can take his position.
 
I believe Chile x Brazil will be a quite hard match.
Brazil has a weak defense and the Chile guys are very fast and seem to never get tired.
Can't wait :)
 
Uruguay vs. Italy is about to start!

This is the way we should fight our wars. No loss of life, eugenics taken for the cesspool it is, atom bombs left untested - winner takes all. :D

Tell me about it - I thought my mate would cancel his plan to watch the last England game in the pub after work tonight since England are already out - but he didn't, and so all my chums are in the pub right now. Luckily (in some regards anyway), the experiment my colleague and I were doing today failed about half an hour ago, and so I can now leave whenever - but I still have other stuff to do before I can go. Hopefully I will catch the second half of both games though.
 
Absolutely hilarious when an Uruguayan player facepalms himself in embarrasment when caught tripping up an Italian player.

0 - 0 still for both games.
