I ended up with half a tank of extra fuel because I accidentally fueled for 23 laps, and I didn't know there was a 3 hour time limit :D

From the looks of the livestream, all of us by i-was-ere did that in room 1

@Ninners, you're right, I stand corrected.

@joetruckv8 You're not alone on the subject of 3 Hour races, yesterdays race was only my third 3 hour race and my second on the Nurburgring, I have done eleven 2 hour races though, only failing to finish twice and overall only once outiside the top 3.

because of the replays I will always finish the race no matter what. I know now if you set in the pits the replay freezes the racing action from the point you begin sitting in the pits there.

The battle I had with your injured (?) car on that lap we did just to finish was the best battle I had all race... well actually that was the only except for a tiny battle with Play.

I was hoping you knew I had damage because I was all over the place!

Haha yeah your car seemed impossible to keep straight! Was pretty exciting to try to find a way past without taking us both out. :P

All this discussion reminded me that the longest that I have driven without stopping was 4 Hours when I was doing the Le Mans 24h, however I never finished it as I was called up to race at Spa in WEC S2 just days before the event.

First, I would like to apologise for not finishing the race.
Here is the problem I had. The damage that was caused to my car when the guys in front of me decided they were going for the win on the first lap. Taking at least 3 wide into a turn and causing a crash. I'm on a ds3 and with the amount of damage those guys caused to my car, I couldn't drive it hardly.
I thought this series prides itself on clean racing. Bad enough that we didn't get started till after 2pm PST. That was the worse start of a race I have ever been in. The guy in poll position couldn't figure out where to start the race at all during the 3 times we restarted. Not happy at all. :(

Wow which room were you in? Or wait, that should probably be taken in private messages.

Can we please skip starting another big fight in the thread guys? Try to keep it a little bit more professional this time and maybe shout at each others through PMs?

Went to sleep watching VLN on boards last night, thankz guys! 👍 To all the guys in Rm#2 if it was your 1st VLN then chop this 1 to your 1st time doing 1 and make this your practice round. If the VLN didn't brake you, then it wouldn't be an epic venue as it is. Show up to race #2 with what you learned out of the 1st situation and put the past in the past. If your in 4th gear or higher, you might want to wait to the long straight after the screwed 1 lane turn in the future! 👍

I stood down from Team driving duties lady night but was glued to the Livestream of Lobby 1. Thanks to the unsung hero Chozza for being Livestream TV cameraman and Producer so that anyone watching got the Timing Screen info periodically and the camera followed where the best on track action was.

I thoroughly enjoyed it and now can't wait to get behind the wheel of the TMB Viper for Round 2. I just hope that the network issues impove (come on Sony, Sort It!) as my team has now had 4 disconnects out of 6 drivers efforts in the past 2 races ( CSS final round and VLN R1 ) robbing us of some decent scores. Poor PluxtheDuck DC'd while leading 11 laps into the CSS race, and last night RS__96__oO DC'd while leading the Lobby 2 race only 7 laps from the end. :(

Doesn't dampen our enthusiasm though as the series is proving to be every bit as exciting as we hoped.

It wasn't a '3 hour time limit' but the distance was set at 22 laps (it was clearly stated in the OP and Drivers Briefing) to equate to approx 3 hours.

The 'extra lap' allows all cars to complete a lap after the winner has crossed the line because at the Ring, the 180 secs time limit is often not sufficient for cars to complete their last lap, and for accurate 'Total Team Time' results, we do need total race TIMES for each driver in order to make the calculation, and we then add on an agreed lap time for any FULL laps the lower order cars are behind the winner.

The room 3 race ended after 20 laps instead of 22. I was told I was on the final lap as the clock hit the 3 hour mark.

This was correct, it is to prevent the race dragging on if there is poor weather, like there was in room 3.

I would also like to thank Chozza for his efforts, even if I did end up watching the stream more then I probably should have been at times haha.

I also watch the stream down the long straights, but one look made me outbrake myself(beginning of lap 8) and into the kitty litter sadly but I only lost about 8seconds.

My very first damage I got on a straight when someone disconnected and that caught my attention for a little moment :P Didn't have the stream open though cause i knew that would happen.

I only started watching at the 2hour mark, mainly coz mic was driving sublimely and I was spending the whole time trying to close him down, it was only at the 2 hour mark that he made a single mistake and I got him

This news came as a shock to me last night. I went out and had a few drinks in his honor. There are tons of car meets planned here in California to remember him by this weekend and next. I'll be hopping to a few tonight with my crew. I am also working on getting a Fast and Furious marathon screened at the shop.

Next weekend there is a big cruise down the Pacific Highway to Neptune's Net. It's a seafood restaurant that appears in the first F&F. I think I'll be skipping that one. I've been there and it's not that big, the parking area is tiny, and I know thousands of car guys will be trying to get there. Couple that with the fact that it's a 7 or 8 hour drive down the two-lane PCH from Sacramento on a good day, I imagine it will be close to impossible to get there.

Those movies were huge and very instrumental to getting my generation into the show and drag car scene though. Paul Walker was a true enthusiast with an extensive collection and will be missed.

Ok, back to racing talk!

I can do 3 Hours pretty easily, by the end of it, I may feel drained, but when you're driving and you have to stop, I just have that energy to do another hour, at the end of this race I still had energy left, but I doubt that would be the same if it rained throughout.
Exactly. The 3 hours goes by a lot faster than you think anyway, so it's not too hard to last. If you look at the time we spend practicing and/or jumping into open lobbies, we definitely spend 3 hours playing GT5 on a regular basis.

I do know it's a lot harder for you boys across the pond though, since the race is so late after a long day. Here in Cali I'm just chillin when we start around 1:30 in the afternoon, haha!

Thanks for good race to all in lobby 1. First few places were very close like on 3 hour beatle :) Thanks Johny and Play for nice fight and make me a bit sweating few times :) I didn't see Nin at all :) My Jag was crap but gived me a lot of fun. Any prowisional results from lobby 3? Thanks again
On picture podium straiht after race finish :)

Apples auto correct function :banghead: BTW Apple I'm not pushing the M button every time I hit the space bar when I type fast. It's you I pad!

The Podium picture was good, Play joined in too until i-was-ere ruined it by running into the back of jonny and breaking it all up.

I apologize to all in room 2 for my attitude and bad manners.
I will have more control of my attitude. Please have more control on the track on the first lap is all I ask. There is 3 hours of racing and lots of time to crash on our own. :)
Please don't take this as a complaint, it's not.
