Generally forced induction and high power warrants better materials. Chevy went to titanium con rods with the naturally aspirated LS7 and other high tier engines.

Also if the block is 6.4L of cast iron then it's going to be one heavy pig.

The block is iron which is more durable and suitable for super charging..

This is debatable, seeing as Chevy made the Z06's supercharged 6.2L out of aluminum. Even if we assume that the iron block was needed for the supercharging, it's still a boat anchor in the front of the car. We could be looking at a 600lb engine.

What is there to know about it? The block is the same 6.4L Block.

Hell 1st Generation Neon SRT4's were dong 13's and that was only with 215hp, today mainly V6 powered cars, Sedan's/base performance cars, are doing 14s

We had a 2004 which was 1.5 to second gen version and it would not get any better than 13.7, I mean even with lower air pressure, short shifter, after market motor mounts the car would burn through the first 3 gears before it would hook up. FWD cars are notorious for having problems like that when it comes to getting grip on a drag strip to the point companies have built systems that pull the car to the ground during launch without a launch control system

You're right it isn't needed and the only reason the 7.0 isn't good for supercharging is because the walls are too thin claims GM but aftermarket has been doing it since the engine release with little to not trouble. Also the 5.8 from Ford is Aluminum since 2011 and does great as well. Now we have the new LT4 in the Z06 coming out. And with the new technologies of Plasma transferred wire arc which I learned about going through my welding metallurgy degree (though never got to use).

Up until the past 5 years or so, 14s were doing pretty damn good for a stock car. Anyone can run it now sure, but that doesn't mean the feeling of acceleration is slow. You know you are moving quickly. Even more so in an older vehicle that doesn't take so much road feel away.
My 1995 nissan maxima ran low/mid 14s stock towards the end of its life.

They were AT LEAST 215hp TO THE WHEELS.

Because the average car can do it doesn't mean it isn't physically slow.

Well, I have to say that the Challenger is still quite a great looking car. I'm probably going to spend some time looking at these up close when they come to the dealerships.

I don't know that first picture made it look like the same old bloated challenger with a cool viper-esque hood. The second one I like better since it's in motion, looks so much better than static. Probably why the Dodge released photos earlier in the thread make the car look somewhat updated because it was in motion.

3.5 seconds to sixty? Wow, that sounds hairy. Most modern cars with that kind of power are running at about 3 flat so it either has trouble putting the power down (likely) or is very heavy (which it is).

For me, its the other way around. The red pic looks like its a bit slimmer than previous challengers (although it is not slim at all) while the black one looks just like the old one.

I doubt it has trouble putting the power down, it's probably more due to it being heavy. If it weight as much as a GT500 or Z/28 even this would be a non-issue.

I don't see it, but glad you like it the way you do.

Im starting to think that the black rims made it less bloated than it really is. The different bumpers help that too.

That is slow. I mean, what are on earth do you call 11-12 second cars? How about sub-10's? "Warp speed, Mr. Sulu!"
11-12 seconds cars are really fast to me. 10s and lower are ridiculous.

The Price is questionable since i dont see it no where listed in the link, thats just what was posted on Allpar.com

Also 3.5 0-60 is great. Remember a 3300lbs 640hp Viper wearing 355's does it in 3.2 seconds.

So, ridiculous fast, really fast, & fast.

Perhaps I'm jaded, but anything beyond a 13-second car is just slow. There's no other word to describe the feeling once you've experienced something pushing over 700Hp. 300Hp just doesn't feel anywhere near the word, "fast" at all.

Does it say what transmission they're using and what about the rear end is it new for this car too? I may have missed this prior so sorry if I'm asking stuff that has been said and I simply forgot.

Welp the BASE $59K Price tag is real

Wow I love how the are actually making a big deal out of the taglines that their fan base was already shouting. It's as if they only want to sell to Mopar fans and no one new...

I mean if this is all they want to sell the car on then that's fine, I'd rather take the second slower quarter mile in teh ZL1 and run lap times and reasonably quick quarter mile times. I see Dodge still thinks their selling cars in a 60s Era demographic.

If only their fan base had the size and money of Porsche faithfuls, then they could have sold all them Vipers :sly:

Oh and thanks for the update by the way 👍

1st gen was 215, months later 230 and then the stage kits from mopar over 250-280
Even the 235 cars were under rated from Dodge. They were actually making around that to the wheels.

This is fairly common, my GTi is rated for 200hp at the flywheel but makes that to the wheels stock.

A Challenger with 707 HP that stickers for just $60,000, the dealer markups are going to be insane. Dealer markups are already ridiculous bull****, but I won't be surprised it to really be close to $90,000, even bordering $100,000 to drive it off the lot.

Any car that can do 3.5s to 60 is fast. It's just icing on the cake when that car costs less than a 3 series BMW.
