Gineta are a defiant. They have proven to the ACO that they can build many cars and fast! All the others (apart from onroak and oreca) are not proven and haven't sold many, if any chassis.

If I was the FIA/ACO oreca, onroak and ginetta would be the safest and most sustainable options. They are all big companies and they are not going to stumble any time soon!

They are listed on the entry list for the Nurburgring and if the hybrid is working by then will be a good test session for the COTA round in September.
I think nurburgring will be their weakest tracks. Lots of tight corners. I also think it will be strong at Silverstone and Spa next year. Lots of high speed corners at that track.

So it goes nurb, cota, fuji over? Right?

Edit: what are shanghai and Barhain like?

What about somebody like Pedro Lamy? Would the chance to get back in a GTE Pro tempt him from AMR AM (even though he fights for wins in it)

Well, a man like Lamy would definitely bring the GT experience to the team, and the last Le Mans race he has done is a proof of that. The only thing keeping him back would be the Aston Martin contract, but I do not know how does it work, so I'll keep away from guessing about that. I won't lie; I would love to see Pedro contest for victory in the PRO class in a Ford GT. Imagine all the great battles we could see!

Nah he writes john a cheque for that.

Haha, I see. Well, regardless, I would love to see Lamy getting an even bigger factory team role in the GT class. If he can't get a LMP1/2 drive, at least he should be able to get a PRO role for a major factory team. I know he already has a role in Aston's factory operation, but the idea of seeing him in a Corvette or a GT is quite interesting...

Regarding the SMP:

Interesting.

I was thinking today about how ludicrously fast the Porsche 919 is. I started thinking how fast it would do the 1/4 mile. I think it could probably do a low 8 at close to 170mph. That's truly insane.

Scratch Wolf and Gibson from the P2 list, add Dallara.

IN
Oreca
Onroak
Riley/and a partner

#4's
Dallara
HPD

Ginetta

And so Gibson and Dallara leave the battle... And isn't it ironic that Ginetta, once partners with Zytek in the LMP2 class, is now going at it alone for the LMP2 chassis. So far, most of the brands that made up the current LMP2 field aren't involved in the new regulations' battle, so is this really going to improve the class? I think not, sadly...

Well Onroak, ORECA I would give 2 licenses to. Riley is just so Grand Am DP teams don't cry in all honesty.

HPD are unlikely, applicants cannot be manufacturer-affiliated and HPD are Honda related so no. Shambles and still attempting to find a reason why this plan was a good idea. Wouldn't surprise me if P2 class starts to get killed off entirely.
That depends on what the definition of "major" is. Also what is stopping them from submitting the bid as Wirth since they build the car?

Riley is just so Grand Am DP teams don't cry in all honesty.
You mean all of one team that uses a Riley DP and it is moving to GTLM. Riley also builds the Viper's and will build a LMP3 car.

LMP2 will kill itself and we'll all ask why we didn't act on the obvious signs, everyone will jump ship to LMP3 and they will go from their current slow-ish start to having insane aero over-development, everyone will claim it's the greatest thing to happen to prototype racing in history and then the rapid over-expansion will lead to that dying in about 15 years.

Substitute P2/P3 for GT1 and GT3 and you get the idea. History repeats itself until you learn from it, folks.

Onroaks contributions to P2 though have been huge.

Indeed chassis wise two veterans still exist:

The DBA of 2003/2004 still exists in concept at the Gibson.

The Courage C60 from was adapted by Pescarolo, Courage went out of business but the C60 chassis continued on in OAK and Morgan guises through to still a couple existing on the grid this year. Incredible life-span.

Lets not forgot the many cars that have spawned from the Courage LC75 and LC70 design (When the business was bought out by Oreca after 2006):

Courage Oreca LC70 (P1)

Acura ARX-01A/B/C/E (P2)

HPD ARX-03A/C (P1)

HPD ARX-03B (P2)

Oreca 01 (P1)

Oreca FLM 09 (PC)

Oreca 03 (P2)

And of course, the interesting rebadges that resurrected old names:

Alpine A450 (P2)

Wolf GB08 (P2)

Lots of longevity in P2, which is why I'm left questioning the change in Regs

Well Onroak, ORECA I would give 2 licenses to. Riley is just so Grand Am DP teams don't cry in all honesty.

Precisely.

You realize Riley doesn't build ANY of those Corvettes, right? Literally, the 01 is the only car that is built and even Mike Shank saw the writing on the wall that it was obsolete (Despite the Ford Money rolling in)

Seriously, the Grand Am bashing is old as hell and its seriously annoying to see this pop up in now two damn threads.
