It's the 52nd running of the Canadian Grand Prix at the Circuit de Gilles Villeneuve - 2.71 miles of classic track and the scene of some epic battles.

Classic moments include Button's dramatic win over Vettel after a drenched race, Robert Kubica's terrifying crash and, of course, the visits to the Wall of Champions by... well, many champions.

Despite being generally regarded as a strong track for the 2015 championship leader Lewis Hamilton he didn't do so well in 2014, he lost out on pole to Rosberg and eventually retired from the race with brake failure.

Im tipping Williams to bounce back here.

Bottas to be the suprise favourite.

Red Bull will undergo further technical issues and i feel may be out shun by the junior Torro Rosso team as they run much less aero.

2am race for me on monday morning... ouch. lucky its a public holiday

Initially both Saturday AND Sunday were predicted to be rainy. But now both days are to be sunny, with the only rain coming on Friday.:ouch:

The chance of Friday rain seems to be diminishing... but there are heavy storms forecast for the following Monday. While I'd like to see rain in the race I hope the front doesn't arrive on Sunday, particularly to the point where we see a delay in racing.

Massa had some harsh words for Verstappen, so him not being very diplomatic is indeed a sign of youthfulness, but I also can't really blame him for not rolling over.

To be fair, I like drivers that get pissy sometimes, guys like Senna, Schumacher and Hamilton. Most people dislike that, I know, but I see it as a good racing quality. Arrogance makes for better racers.

I guess Filipe and Max wont become best friends... :D:lol:

Cheeky little dig at Massa there from Max :D. Fair play to him, I don't think it was largely his fault what happened at Monaco, and up until then it was a great drive from such a young driver.

Well, I thought so too at first but regardless of that Grosjean braked later than he did on any other lap and Verstappen still went up the back of him... Verstappen's fault, I''m afraid.

A little more of some other drivers' views on the crash from the BBC, for those watching the press conference linked above the question to Verstappen is just after 18:00.

Anyone who thinks Max wasn't 100 percent to blame for that incident needs to go to drawing board.

I think Massa should shut it though, he is always the one to comment when there is incidents, if he saw how bad he was in his first years especially 2002 then he would keep his mouth closed.

Max is still 17 so its likely he is going to talk like an idiot for a few years especially if he is showing speed.

I hope this week-end gonna be good. Max Verstappen should take care how he speaks tho, I dont mind him trashing Massa that much but sometimes it's better to focus on what you have to do during the week-end than on what others are thinking of you.

Beside he did made a mistake in Monaco and he dont seems to acknowledge that which is a bit worrying for me. It shows his lack of experience on fast close racing.

I think the major difference between him and Sainz is that, the racing experience and we can see that during race, Sainz is better. Verstappen might be a bit faster but racing craft is way lower for me.

I think there are alot more eyes on Verstappen due to his age, so there is more pressure.

But Sainz to me has shown more speed and consistency.

Keeping in mind he has suffered just as much bad luck in the process, but both are doing well.

Like I said in the preseason this STR team is essentially the Best Conventionally Developed racer at the time(Sainz) vs The Brightest young Talent(Verstappen) and the result is a seriously impressive Rookie lineup.

very rarely in the past few years have the best talents gotten into F1 at the right time but this has worked perfectly for the STR pair.

It could possibly be compared(hindsight might help) to having a Hamilton/Vettel lineup in 2007.

But we will wait and see.

Suddenly, an adult appears...

Autosport
Jenson Button says he was surprised to hear Max Verstappen imply Romain Grosjean braketested him in Monaco and warned the Formula 1 rookie to be careful with remarks to journalists.

Verstappen has been given a five-place grid penalty for the Canadian Grand Prix after a high-speed collision in which he clipped the rear of Grosjean's Lotus and crashed heavily at Sainte Devote.

Williams rival Felipe Massa described the 17-year-old's driving as "pretty dangerous", adding that "experience counts in Formula 1".

While Button refused to blame a lack of experience for the incident, he did suggest Verstappen should be more mindful over how he reacts.

"He's obviously inexperienced, it's easy to go and jump on the bandwagon with that," said the McLaren driver.

"I think, the thing is, you've got to be very careful with what you do say in the press.

"To point the finger at someone and say that they braketested you, that's serious.

"I don't think that happens in motorsport these days, we're all grown-ups and we don't do things like that in Formula 1."

In the wake of the Monaco crash, Verstappen suggested Grosjean had triggered it by braking unexpectedly early - a charge Lotus refuted.

"I braked in the same spot like the lap before but he clearly braked 10-15 metres earlier," said Verstappen at the time.

"When it is that close, you have no room. He caught me by surprise.

"I realised at the moment he braked, but by then it is too late because you don't expect someone to brake that early."

When asked if he was disappointed with Verstappen's insinuation, Button said: "It was a surprise, yes.

"Obviously emotions run high in this sport, but looking at the talent that we have in the sport, we're all very intelligent guys.

"We know the dangers of this sport and we'd never do anything like that."

What's this? A sponsor on the Manor!

The team has also signed 2013 GP2 Series champion Fabio Leimer as test and reserve driver, a deal that is reportedly worth a few million dollars and should be enough for the team's season to be secure.

Why is so hard for them to find sponsors of any kind? Surely there are companies out there willing to pay 1000s to have their logo on the side of an F1 car for a weekend.

Surely it's better than nothing.

You gotta take into account that you'll pay for a spot on a car that is rarely seen on TV. The few times you can see it, it's in the back of the pack and get lapped. Not a very good advertising for your firm.

Surely it's better than nothing.
It devalues the sport as a whole. It costs a team nearly $2 million to run two cars over the course of a weekend, so a few thousand dollars won't make any meaningful difference. And back in the late 1980s, there was a backmarker team - Osella, I think - who were struggling for money going into Canada. A local journalist wrote a sob story about it and the team got interest from half a dozen local businesses for the weekend. They ended up running a car plastered with local sponsors, and it was an absolute joke (although still not as bad as the time Tyrell advertised Xena: Warrior Princess ...).

Dean Fiore used to do it in V8 Supercars - he would do race-by-race deals with local sponsors, and it made him look like an amateur.
