Looking at the current radar, the track's right in the middle of a rain band and it's not moving fast. If I was a betting man, this race's not happening tonight.
Knowing Comcast/NBC Universal, the race will be on nbcsn even though there is nothing on NBC in the early afternoon except for a stupid soap opera that no one watches.

They should have had the race yesterday, the fireworks show they say is so sacred only got a 0.9 while NASCAR would have gotten far higher ratings.

Still wasn't going to do THAT much better because once again, most of America was going to be outside and again, on

Yes, it's looking that way, thanks. Was hoping to see J .Gordon do it tonight at his last Daytona visit.

Who is going to watch a fireworks show on TV when it's better to go out and see a show in person?

Not many, that's why they moved the race to the 5th.

2009 was the last year it was on the 4th.

NBC's logic for moving the race date makes sense except that the whole Daytona region around the Fourth of July is often under the threat of weather. That's the downside to broadcasting NASCAR; even a drizzle throws a wrench into everything.

Talk around where I'm camped out agreeing that race is not happening tonight, and none of us (about 15 RV's worth) are sticking around for tomorrow. I laughed seeing the coolers of beer still full. No one's drinking until this thing starts.

They should start the race at 2 am (give the drivers 5-hour energys bottles) as there is rain expected tomorrow afternoon too.

I don't ever see that happening.

They could start as late as about 11pm. It's only a 400 mile race, which means it "could" be done in just over 2 hours if they could manage to run caution free. Otherwise, it's about a 3-3.5 hour race.

I am not staying up until 3 a.m. Not happening. As soon as 1 a.m. happens I am out.

Daytona itself is almost impossible to have a true clean race, but combined with NASCAR drivers thinking they're in ARCA at the restrictor plate tracks lately, I'd be willing to say that it just flat won't happen.
Very possible on the old surface but the 500 didn't have a big one until the last lap
