wait...since when did they get rid of it all around the track at Vegas...

Not to joke, but seriously NASCAR ya dun goof'd. They need to answer this.

I think its time the tracks simply got rid of the old concrete walls and just replace them with SAFER barriers all the way around just like at Iowa. Expensive? Maybe. Worth it? I sure as hell would like to think so.

Pretty sure a driver finding a part of the track that doesn't have SAFER barriers has long stopped being funny.

Judging by past races, a lot of the tracks must not regularly check the condition of the foam blocks either. Many trackside cameras show them wobbling around when cars go by. They're supposed to fit snugly between the concrete wall and the metal barrier.

They seem to just shove new foam pieces in after an accident, like a spare tire on a car, it's not nearly as effective as the original or a true replacement.

It never was all the way around the track, just like it is at most tracks currently. The mindset of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" in regards to safety is ridiculous.

Since when cause most track you see it all the way around and it is usually the concrete wall of the infield that get exposed, until a Denny or JJ happens then they think "we might wanna fix this. Or a Pocono when the metal guard rail tore up Junior and Steve Park's (I think) car apart.

Here's some tracks with wall problems that I can think of:

-Indianapolis: front and back straights and short chutes have concrete walls

-Atlanta: backstretch and inside walls in parts

-Martinsville: front and backstretch walls

-Phoenix: Outside wall on front stretch

-Watkins Glen: Everywhere with a guard rail

-Sonoma: everywhere with tire barriers and Jersey barriers (Edwards crash this year)

-Fontana: Outside wall in tri-oval and backstretch.

-Dover: outside walls in front and backstretch

I knew I was going to see some interesting commentary here on GTPlanet when I read in my Twitter news feed of John Wes Townley winning at Las Vegas. I salute one of my fellow Johns on the win while also saluting Regan Smith on his win at Dover in the XFINITY Series race.

When I think of more tracks having SAFER barriers, the failed Houston Superspeedway would have been the first track long ago to have the SAFER barrier all around the course. The track never materialized, so it is just one of many different failed courses to represent the Houston/Galveston area. It was something I sort of thought about in regards to having the SAFER barriers all around a track. Or at least, having more of these barriers covering more of tracks. I would imagine the level of safety would be greater having more of these barriers in more places.

I did not see ANYTHING of the Trucks race at Las Vegas. I just hope for the best for whomever took that big whack into the wall.

I knew the road courses were an issue still but not some of the oval ones you listed, thanks.

Pretty much every oval frontstretch/backstretch outer wall is unprotected currently.

Pitlanes need better protection as well. Lots of tracks don't even have a wall between the pits and the grass on the frontstretches.

I know the infield (which I consider the pit wall) doesn't have any safety, but I could have sworn I saw many tracks back and front stretch with safety barriers. If not though that is pretty bad.

What if I told you guys Josh Wise was going to win today?

Jokes aside, JWT did earn that win. He was actually faster then the polesitter and before that Fuel situation was actually catching Crafton.

He deserved that one, he was catching Crafton on the end, he probably would be right on Crafton's bumper on the last two, three laps.

I believe that means one of his vertabral bones in his spine has gone down 10% in size due to the fracture.

Yes, from a quick research I did it means exactly that.

And considering we had:

-A GTLM winning Petit Le Mans.
-A Xfinity driver winning a Xfinity race over Cup drivers.
-JWT winning a Truck race.

I say #Roushwinslol today.

Roush only wins because I said a week back that they are garbage. Often whenever I say something that I see through my own eyes, the contrary ends up happening to make me look dumb.
