They called a caution with the leaders in turn 3 for Larson's bumper but apparantly a peice of mostly flat sheet metal is a bigger hazard than a Ford Fusion stock car. I'm normally against calling the race with a caution but for all NASCAR knew Biffle's car might have not been able to be moved.

Almost certain NASCAR will say that this was a single car incident and therefore could afford to wait if Biffle could get out of the way in time.

That or that a Roush car is lower in the debris hierarchy than rear bumpers and Styrofoam cups.

NASCAR Caution hierarchy totem pole:
- Race is boring, call a caution.
- Race may be fuel mileage, call a caution.
- Car on fire.
- Car crashed as long as it's a Chase driver.
- Flag falls out of flagman's perch.
- Caution light cover falls down.
- Caution randomly turns on, NASCAR doesn't know how to turn it off.
- Sheet metal in racing groove.
- Soda bottle in racing groove.
- Styrofoam cup in racing groove.
- Sheet metal sitting out of groove, where one would have to actively try to hit it to have it be a problem.
- Car driving the wrong way on the race track.
- Roush Car stopped on the race track (Stenhouse Jr.)
- Roush car stopped on the race track (Biffle/Bayne)

Ewww Horseface.

Also serious NASCAR inconsistencies.

Daytona: Cars in turn 2, off track : Yellow
AC: Car at the line, middle of track : green.
Remember, at Daytona, the reasoning given behind calling the caution immediately was that cars had hit the inside wall very hard,. NASCAR didn't want the drivers to have to wait for medical attention if they were seriously injured.

If NASCAR is going to use that reasoning, then any time a car crashes and comes to a stop, a safety crew needs to go to the car.

Edit:  Denny ftw.

I saw a video from the stands, Larson hit a safer barrier and was not going fasr. In fact he attempted to drive away

You forgot the item at the top of the hierarchy:

- Dale Earnhardt Jr needs a caution for whatever reason, call a caution

There is a LOT that goes on with calling cautions. I listen to the officials radio at some point in the race every week. It isn't like David Hoots is sitting in the tower calling caution for no reason.
However, the last caution before any GWC made no sense. So a piece of debris got hit by a racecar and NASCAR needed to call the caution? And yet nobody in the field had a problem? Even if nobody had hit it, this little piece of metal on the apron was so horrible 43 of the "world's best drivers" could avoid it for two laps?
I don't buy the whole "We don't want Kurt winning". If that were the case why did they let them race back to the line while Brad was in the lead, giving Kurt another chance in 3 and 4?

They better race under caution then because there's no way that's happening
They will still have 17 cars finish off the lead lap if the entire race was run under caution. Because, bad drivers.

The media is still buzzing over the 3 late debris cautions where no debris was seen by TV viewers in 2 of the 3 cautions.

Many believe NASCAR has a tradition of subjectivity and "show-biz" in its use of the caution flag and other rules. Even if this is quite true, it may be justified by the fact that NASCAR is the most popular and financially stable racing series around. The lack of a German GP and French GP in the FIA F1 series is a hint that F1 lacks the popularity and financial security of the better-managed NASCAR series.

F1 is now falling into financial straits or is it just because of Bumbling Bernie the sport's popularity has taken a dive?

[Off topic]
There are historic social and economic forces at work which are far beyond Bernie's power to control. I actually think he has done a pretty fair job of honchoing F1 lo these many years. Inevitably, he and the sport itself are growing increasingly irrelevant.

I am back to work after going to this race and taking yesterday off of work for travel. Couple things, Kenseth's pit crew was on it! Allmendinger was down a cylinder you could hear it. I'm glad Harvick didn't win. I met one of the crewmen for Casey Mears the night before the race in my hotel's bar. He was pretty cool. Didn't catch his name. I told him that out of the 2 Bakersfield boys out there I'd rather Casey Mears take it than Harvick. Bakersfield sucks but that is where my family is from. I left the track with about 30 laps to go to avoid traffic and I guess I missed all the drama with the G-W-Cs etc. Jeff Gordon spinning the 18 again proves the 24 is a douchebag in my book. Ragan wouldn't give 24 the spot that easily. Big deal, it's a race. He would have gotten him eventually. Everyone should pull over for Jeff because he is special. NASCAR is very hard to follow when you are there live. Had a good time. Tough break for Kenseth. I really wanted to see him do well. He was up in the top 5 all day and his pit crew would bring him out in front. Good job Brad K. I have a little more respect for Brad since he wrote that thing on Kyle Busch. Only pic I took lol

It was shown, but by the time they showed it, it was stuck to the front of Allmendinger's car. Pretty good sized strip of metal.

That's actually a really good deal considering where I'm from 416K will get you a small fixer upper house built in the 1940's. I'd rather have a race team. The cars and tools alone are worth far more than the price tag.

Total value listed at $750k, so it is quite a bargain.
