There was further clarification on the draft comment he made, but it's still no better...

He wants/hopes the Michgan and Indy aero adjustments will lead to "pack racing" and more drafting.

Which is an awful idea....

Brian "Braindead" France won't be happy until one or more cars fly into the catchfence at the finish of a race, potentially hurting or killing multiple drivers and fans. "BUT DEY WERE 7 WIDE BATTLING FOR DA WIN DOE!!!111" On the subject of Davey Allison, he would've had no less than 40 wins and 2 championships if the helicopter crash didn't happen.

It's really ironic to see that he wants MIS to be a pack race when it currently seems to be a favorite of drivers because it isn't pack racing. Then again, this is the same Brian France that thinks that the Kentucky aero package was a fail, so I'm not shocked at all.

Next will be high df packages for short tracks. Bristol at 140mph, no lifting required yo.
Then after that, they'll add chicanes and force drivers to drift the turns at Martinsville and penalize anyone who doesn't drift. You know, so the fans get their money's worth and see "excitement".

So from what I'm reading, basically Brian France wants every Mile 1/2 to be Daytona all year long....

I don't even know how to describe such stupidity.
If he really wants to make every track cookie cutter, I'd rather that he tries to turn everything into Eldora instead of Daytona. I'd rather that he leaves everything alone (and for that matter, leaves NASCAR outright), but a bunch of dirt tracks would be way cooler than a bunch of plate races.

I'd even throw in New Hampshire's road course and Daytona's as well.
A one hour mad dash race after or right before the 24 Hours of Daytona would be neat, plus, it would draw a larger crowd for the 24 hour race.

Exactly! Make it an off season event.

I understand this sport is based on ovals. But if you want to brag how good your drivers are you need more than 2 road courses. They should do 10...or 12. :P

I don't think that's what Brian France meant, I think he wants the racing to be more like this

Why do they not go to COTA? It's a great track.

Of the 36 race dates on the current Sprint Cup calendar, only 4 races are held at tracks not owned by ISC (the France family/NASCAR) or SMI (Bruton Smith). That would be the two races at Dover, and the two races at Pocono.

To add a race at Circuit of the Americas, a current Sprint Cup race would need to be replaced, or the schedule would have to expand. SMI and ISC have zero reason to give up a profitable race date to a track they do not own, as they have dueling monopolies on the current schedule. They will not do it, and NASCAR would never force them to do so (especially since NASCAR is the owner of the ISC tracks).

Dover and Pocono are unique tracks with solid private ownership committed to keeping their tracks, and definitely are not looking to cut their revenue in half by dropping one of their two race dates each year.

The schedule is already too long, but the politics and greed behind the current ownership groups prevent any contraction in the current schedule. Don't expect them to expand it either though, especially to a track not already owned by ISC or SMI. Also, don't expect them to expand it for a road course. Road courses have lower attendance numbers, lower TV ratings, and are generally harder to sell sponsorship and advertisements.

I don't understand why we go to a track twice in one year. It should be one race for each track on the schedule, in my opinion. I want more variety.
Simple, it's efficient greed. ISC and SMI don't want to have to own 2 different tracks to get 2 different race weekends worth of money. They control the tracks, so they control the schedule.

Um... SMI did, we only go to Atlanta once this season..
