I see you forgot last years chase.:sly:

I don't think consistency will pay as big this year, considering so many teams are so competitve this year. It's not like the #2 is winning every race this year; mutiple drives have multiple wins this year. I think if you want to make it to Homestead, you need to win, no more "finish top 5 for $$$".

Of course, it ain't over 'til it's over, so we'll see what happens. Just my opinion on how those last four teams will perform, I just don't think they'll be able to hang with the guys winning this year.

"Yea, Matt Kenseth is so much better than me.... Just kidding..." - Kyle Busch

This is why people don't like you, Kyle.

I saw the humor in it. He gave credit to Kenseth. Hate on dude. Kyle Busch has had an extremely impressive year given the circumstances.
I know he was trying to be funny, but I didn't see it extremely funny. I'm not hating. I do agree, he's done really well this year, coming back from his accident at Daytona. You gotta give him kudos for that.

I wish the chase was never made, just have a normal, no gimmick championship where hardwork over time pays off and not Cinderella luck.

Hypothetically, a driver could win every single race but finish second at Homestead and lose the championship.

You mean how I was nearly proven right (and to some degree was) when I claimed that the chase would be won by a driver that was deep at the bottom of the 16 and likely to be early removed from the chase, due to their pre-chase run. As well as not ever winning a single race in the chase, which would work counter intuitive to what NASCAR wanted and why they made the new format. And then Newman nearly won it in almost proving me right

I said this a while ago on this thread, but I still find it funny that people say this format was made to try to gift Dale Jr. a championship when he could have possibly been a champion years ago if the Chase didn't exist. I get that it adds "excitement" to the thing, but it's complete crap that a racer can now have the points lead and still not win because some guy managed to finish better in one race than they did.

Speaking of gimmicks, I've thinking about how some people around the NHRA talked about the winner-take-all race between Jason Line and Erica Enders-Stevens that decided the 2014 NHRA Pro Stock champion (Erica). Some people kept talking about how it made the system a success. If their chase didn't exist, it still probably would have happened because Erica sat out 3 races last year. That really says more about how dominant Elite Motorsports (Erica's team) is than how effective their championship system is.

- McMurray and Menard finally catch a break and win a race to make the Cha$e for the first time in their careers.
- Josh Wise probably puts the DogeCar in the top 10 at a plate race.
- Last but not least, Martin Durex, cough, I mean Truex Jr. doesn't make the Cha$e, but has an impressive enough year to finally secure a proper top ride in 2016. (Hendrick maybe, in place of the sluggish Kahne?)
I love being right about something in the pre-season.

I literally only seen the final 18 laps of the race at Richmond, as I was with my parents and family at a restaurant. The only thing I'm pleased with is Jeff Gordon making the Chase. All congratulations to the Dollar General Camry for finishing P1 last night.

So that's it- 16 Cup drivers have a chance to become champion. They'll all get whittled down between mid-September through mid-November. Who'll hoist the championship trophy by season's end? We'll find out as the Chase goes along...

I kind of liked the race grading thing:

I'll give Richmond a C+. Not terrible but the racing sort of just died out on the long runs.

Now that's quality Humor, five points for doofus.

EDIT: I like how JJ covers up after too "oh if I get hit I wont be able to win a 7th title"

The Chase will be boring as well. These cars have too much downforce for any exciting racing.

Opposite of what drivers and fans really want...

General feeling in the media center this weekend was that Darlington was great and that package should be ran from now on.
Also another feeling is that Goodyear brought a tire compound that is too hard. Softer tires would of improved race quality dramatically.
Even Bob Pockrass, who some in this thread are not fans of, was arguing for Darlington package.

I know I may get hate for this, but I'd actually like a much harder tire than what is already used. It would last longer but the grip would be greatly reduced and make the cars more difficult to control.

If everyone complains about too much grip and driving being too easy, why would they want a softer compound with more grip?

The fall off of the tires would have a much more dramatic and noticeable effect.
