After the long winter break and three pre season tests in Spain with new cars, drivers, regulations. The F1 circus heads down under for the first race of an all new season. The scoreboard has been reset and the excitement is building. Questions are flying everywhere, will Mercedes dominate again? Will McLaren finish a race? Will Ferrari, Red Bull or Williams put up more of a fight against Mercedes? These answers will start to come at the 2015 Australian Grand Prix

Not by much. Melbourne is in the dip just to the right of the dot.

I mean, it's not as bad as this one.

That's not even 🤬 close.
That kinda pit road would have Formula E organisers rubbing hands with glee.

Man that was a quick winter break.

Hopefully this will bring back some interest in motorsport for me. Last year was fairly lacklustre in all disciplines and the Bianchi crash really turned me off for some time.

Hopefully this year will be better

More questions I can't wait to see answered:
1. Who will drive for Sauber?
2. What can Magnussen do with his probable only chance at a race this season?
3. Will the Virgins, ah, I mean Marussias, oh sorry, Manors even make it to the grid, let alone finish?

Max Verstappen in the Red Bull simulator.

As much as I understand Red Bull's need to find young talent, I feel they may have gone abit far with this.

There is literally crap loads of references for correct locations and they still manage to get it wrong.

Hopefully we won't see so much of the SC this season, the "virtual" system will be used where possible and we won't have to wait for lapped cars to regain a full lap before the SC releases the field.
The purpose isn't to replace the SC. It is to set a limit around sectors with yellows. Previously all the driver had to do was half a second of half throttle.

No, I didn't say it was to replace it in all cases;

Formula1.com - Rule Changes for 2015
Virtual Safety Car - in a bid to improve safety, particularly in the event of double waved yellow flags, a virtual safety car system designed to ensure drivers slow sufficiently has been introduced for 2015. This can be used to neutralise a race without having to introduce the safety car itself.

You can also read the additional Section 41 of this year's FIA F1 Sporting Regulations (26.02.15) for further information. As you'll see the VSC isn't a coverall but it is an alternative that allows the enforcement of double-waved-yellows. That will reduce the number of SC sorties required (and thereby the amount of faff involving in returning it to the pits).

It does mean that they can get away with a lot more stuff under double yellows than would previously have been possible or safe though. It'll take a reasonably major incident to actually provoke the safety car now, presumably anything that requires service or medical vehicles to enter the circuit.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see reduced SC usage this year.

Does anyone know the name of the remix of just drive for the Sky intro? (also shame about the race time I have midterms :( )

Oh and next season I want a Virtual Reality 360 degree free view of onboard cameras.

I think the big news awaiting 2015 is... Will Jules recover and start Rehab? Will he ever race again? He really was a great talent and would of been driving for Ferrari next season, possibly #ForzaJules

He's still in a coma. No signs of any improvement. The only thing we can hope for is that he will wake up and live a somewhat normal life.
