So your main problem after scoring 3 at home and still losing is that you
didn't score enough goals? I mean, I suppose pedantically that's true, because if you'd knocked in 5 today you would have won, but come on...
Interesting round of games so far. United looked okay but not great, Bournemouth weren't much of a challenge. That said, Sunderland
shouldn't have been much of a challenge for a City team that has been widely tipped to storm the title this year, and they managed to make some real hard work of that for themselves.
I was honestly pretty underwhelmed by City. The goal they gave up was really bad, and they didn't really ever get anything going moving forward. I also was a little disappointing with the penalty decision; I don't dispute the contact, but you'll never convince me that Sterling couldn't have stayed upright (and van Aanholt was trying to block a cross which never came, the trailing leg contact was at best incidental and probably totally accidental) so that was poor from my point of view. Once he's on the ground, where is he supposed to go? If someone falls over and you go over to walk into them and trip, should that also be a penalty?
Anyways, what's done is done and City got the 3 points eventually, but this seems like it should have been their chance to really flash their title credentials, and instead they're fumbling all over themselves and just about crawling over the line. I guess we'll see how the rest of the year goes, but that wasn't an encouraging display for a team with such high ambition.
I suspect that Leicester will have a tough year this year. A top half finish for them would be nice but I think they'll have to really fight for that.
Spurs were another one that failed to impress. Generally looked pretty uninspired and had real trouble linking any sort of play together. Summer hangover for their internationals maybe?
Looking forward to seeing Chelsea in action tomorrow. Should be a different sort of play style this year from them.
