Danica Patrick started 22nd and finished 4th. She also looked great running with the leaders.

Not only that, but had that yellow come just one lap earlier she would have very likely won the race... but she was also the recipient of some good luck in the race as well. Still a great job none the less. 👍
 
And you know what's funny if she did win? It would have been exactly one year since Danica's first IndyCar victory because today (as of 4/19/2009 at 11:44 PM CDT) is the first anniversary of that first ICS win.

I believe that's the Top 5. Credit Helio Castroneves. Home is his race car on a track. Good to see him in great form since battling in that tax evasion deal.

I hope PT wins the Indy 500 on Sunday and gets Geico to sponsor him for the rest of the American races.

Did anyone else catch the Indy Lights race yesterday? It was absolutely fantastic! They were running two-wide on the turns the entire race, and there was something like ten lead changes in only forty laps, a quarter of which were run under the yellow flag.
 
Any predictions for the 500 tomorrow? I think that unless something goes wrong, an orange and white (or in Will Power's case a black) Penske car will win tomorrow.
 
My picks for the 2009 Indianapolis 500 are Paul Tracy, Danica Patrick, Marco Andretti, Graham Rahal, and Ryan Hunter-Reay.

Helio Castroneves.

Yes, I always go for Danica to at least finish strong, but I think Helio is a madman who loves working at home- the race track with his Indy car. He's won the toughest race of his life and now is trying to win many more races. I got Helio Castroneves to win this year's Indy 500. Anyone else picking him? Or do you all have any dark horses to win?
 
Man, Vitor Meira (sp?) just had a major wreck, no word on his condition.

EDIT: He's alert but complaining of pain, didn't say where.
 
Man, Helio winning seems like it came out of a Hollywood movie to me...Still, got give props to "Spiderman" on this one!
 
The greatest finish and victory session I have ever seen. And how the officials tried to keep him from climbing the fence but did it anyways. Aw man. Great race and great finish.

This has to be the most Storybook ending I've ever scene. Everything just fell his way. Congrats to Castroneves. Even if he does not win this year's championship, he's already a champion.

2009 Indianapolis 500 Race Results
Congratulations to Helio Castroneves for winning the 2009 Indianapolis 500.

I'm very angry at Mario Moraes for taking out Marco Andretti in the 1st turn on the 1st lap. I hope KV Racing Technology fires Moraes and runs Paul Tracy full-time instead (especially since PT finished 9th today).
