The problem with Fuji is that it's in the rainshadow of Mount Fuji, so you're almost guaranteed a wash-out.

For what it's worth, I think Sportsland SUGO would be a better fit. It's git plenty of high-speed sections, a greater variety of corners, and is of a more manageable length than Fuji. And it has none of the rain problems.
Not trying to nitpick PM, but you've said the rain shadow thing about Fuji before. Yes, it rains often there, but it doesn't gaurentee a wash. The Super GT race ran there two weekends ago under crystal blue skies. If memory serves correct (which mine often doesnt :P), weren't the Super GT races from Fuji in 2015 both dry as well? Certainly the one which Oliver Crum won was dry. I think time of year has a lot to do with it.

Obviously a monsoon like we saw at Adelaide is not ideal for racing, but what's wrong with a wet race? Perth was wet for race 1, and was rather epic.

That bit aside, when I think of V8s in Japan, I think either Fuji or SUGO would be the best fit.

I think it would be awesome to see and hear the V8s screaming down the front straight, they would be a sight to see navigating the tire destroying 100R, and the climb up the hill would be quite challenging as well. Downside is it's maybe a bit long of a lap for V8s.

SUGO I think would be the ideal fit. Lap time fits, and the variety of corners would suit V8s very well in my opinion. Such a picturesque setting as well.

Suzuka would probably be great as well, but it's a little on the long side, and it might be a little processional. Although, watching the V8s navigating 130R would be pretty awesome. Suzuka East is boring on my opinion (the short version that's just the esses). Suzuka West might actually be a really good fit, but I'm not sure if they still actively use that version and whether or not the pits on the back straight are up to snuff.

Autopolis is in the middle of no where, probably wouldn't draw much of a crowd.

Okayama might be alright, but for whatever reason, it just doesn't get me excited the way SUGO and Fuji do.

Motegi would be rather dull in my opinion. Actually, Motegi East might be pretty good, but I think the full circuit wouldn't suit the V8s.

I definitely think there is a market in Japan for the V8s though, especially with Nissan's involvement. If Nissan could take that final step to be a consistent contender to win races, I think the V8s at the NISMO fest at Fuji would be a great fit....although, I'm not sure if there's enough track time available to fit the V8s into that weekend.

If it were billed during a SuperGT or Nismo Fest event, it would be insane.

For Warburton to take 5 Supercars to KL last year, a trip to Japan would be even more fruitful. Nissan head office could get a feel first hand, what the series is about.

Great minds do think alike  :sly:

Put it this way, Bathurst will yield a 2'05" lap. If a v8 could do that or lower at Fuji, all would be well.

The V8s could also see track time at Fuji like what was done at COTA, with the NASCAR demonstration. Have a Japanese driver drive one and the other by Rick. Then, race with all the other cars during the demonstration at NISMO Fest.

Hmm Ya a 2'05 around Fuji would probably be more than manageable.

That said, I think longer laps like that work better for endurance type events. I think sprint races are more suited to a shorter lap time. With that in mind, I don't think there would be time on a NISMO Fest weekend to run a full endurance race. There is a boat load of track running that happens on those weekends, and that is one of the main draws of the whole festival. There might be a way to squeeze in two sprint races, but like I said, I think a longer track like Fuji would spread things out too much for an exciting sprint race.

Of course, you could do V8s at Fuji on any other weekend....but doing it at NISMO fest just has a certain appeal to it.

I definitely agree that it would be fantastic for the Kellys to take one or two cars to the event just to demo them, and get them on track at the same time as all the other NISMO machinery :)

Not a fan, Mighty Mite just seems like a really amateur sponsor

DJRTP are kidding themselves if they think anyone is going to buy Mightymite over the superior Vegemite.

Can't wait to see what Winton looks like. That track has/had no runoff. Only into the pitlane. The Glen has more asphalt around most turns. Definitely would not be a problem to race there. If NASCAR can manage for all those years, Supercars can.

Winton also has speeds a lot lower than what a Supercar would achieve at The Glen. Yes, NASCARS race there but they also race on ovals lined by concrete walls & are purpose built to do so.
The world has a large variety of tracks I'd love to see our blokes race on but I'd also hate to see two cars tangle in the 2/3/4 complex at The Glen & have the rest pile in because they had nowhere else to go. As for The Boot section, the last race I watched from there it didn't look like they had a lot of safety built in like sandtraps. All I saw in some corners was short grass sections from tarmac to guardrail.

It'd be no different(safety wise) to Bathurst. Chaz nearly flew off the side.

We've seen plenty of bottle knecks and tumbles at 300(297km/h ;) ) at The Chase. GT3 cars lose a wheel just after The Elbow.

I haven't watched a race at The Glen since Ambrose won his last one there. YouTube will be my friend in a minute. So, I'll watch a race from 2015 to catch up.

True. Chaz was definitely going over the wall if he hadn't hit the flag post shelter.

The Ovals have SAFER barriers though, what Mostert hit at bathurst would do more damage then hitting a wall on a oval.

And thankfully those SAFER barriers are in place. The recent race at Talladega had some cars into the walls at very high speeds with all drivers ok.

I might be a minority but Talladega isn't racing for me, it's like a High boost room in GT creating a perfect storm of deadly crashes, no real driver skill involved.

Restrictor plate races are purely lucky dip. Drivers don't win these races, they survive.

That was a short interview with Richard Emery. Should have talked more. I want to see Nissan in AGT and Supercars.

Yeah I much prefer Todd's car in white.

I'll add that Caruso will be in the same colors this weekend, but with the chrome red they've run previously.

As much as having Mazda in the series would be a good general reflection on the market (Mazda's are quite popular), Mazda has already said they don't want in after V8SC shopped the idea to them. But, their opinion could have changed from then...
