As much dust gets on certain turns, it needs that run off. Even last round at SMP, a high speed corner and it's dust. A small patch helped a little. Yet, the rest of the track had plenty of run off spots(some due to the alternate layouts).

Turn 1,2,3,4 at Winton should have more run-off.

The circuit is designed to fit within the confines of the block of land it was built on.

The only thing that I can think of would be to tighten the final corner so that the new straight runs at an angle to the current one. Then they could rebuild the first complex to allow for more run-off.

I'm not suggesting a gridiron field sized area. Tasmania has more runoff at the hairpin than where Chaz spun off and backended his FG X at Winton.

Queensland is trying to remodel the Paperclip. Make more runoff instead of dusty corners.

I think that's more a maintenance issue than a design issue.

Meh.

Not as good as the Homebush heritage livery. That one was brilliant.

Edit. Nope. Don't like it.

I think it looks pretty good to be honest.

But yeah, the LDM car definitely needs white wheels.

Not much tonight on Inside Supercars.
Probably because most of the programme was spent explaining the Sandown qualifying format.

Seriously, VESA, get rid of it. Just do aggregate qualifying: the lead driver's time plus the co-driver's time.

Yeah, gets messy when cars get banged up in those 20lap sprints.
Qualify then, Top 10 Shootout.

Sucks that they won't be running a retro scheme. Always wanted to see them do the '88 livery.

I don't think that the decision against running a retro livery has anything to do with the separation of Holden and Walkinshaw; rather, the article makes it clear that because the team has already done a few livery changes this year, they didn't want to do any more.

What? Jesus Christ, how can this be? I was so excited to see a retro paint job on the HRT cars! Looks as though my weekend has been ruined before it's even started. Such a dog thing to do. Wasted opportunity. [Insert expletives here]

At least Volvo is doing it...

I don't see it as being that bad, and so what if they don't want to do it just because another team in a bad split is doing it still. We have no idea why they're doing it other than they just don't want to run the retro liveries this time around as PM posted above

edit: and posted again below

If you'd read the article, you'd know:
After running a number of different liveries throughout last season including a 1997 throwback in Townsville, the HRT and Holden made a joint decision against further changes this year.
It's nothing to do with the HRT-Walkinshaw split.

Still a stupid decision though. I can't be the only HRT fan to be upset...

I don't see how concentrating on car performance, has anything to do with a body wrap.

I amended(omitted) my original post because I felt if they're not doing one now, will they not do one to celebrate Brock at Bathurst. We'll only know what they want us to know. Coming to a mutual agreement does not mean the split did not affect the decision to leave the livery as is.

Sounds like a weak explanation, because they have ran different liveries since '97 or whenever.

I doubt other HRT fans will see it as a ruined weekend, like you. Just seems a bit silly to see it as a such an awful or as you put it "stupid choice" when it has no real effect on the car.
