Would a driver sacrifice his own car and position in order to bring another car from his team into winning position? That's what the Porsche and Corvette incident looked like more than anything, but I can't believe it.

I've had that brewing in my mind for a bit, but the #912 is second in points to the #4. Having the #912 take out the #4 so the #911 could win is a possibility. So it's sort of confusing, but who knows.

From the on board, it looked like the 912 may have hit some of the debris that came from the BMW that wrecked. If that happened, I wonder if it had potentially cut a tire which may possibly explain the odd line into the corner before the contact.

Eh, there is a reason I'm not surprised. I recall a similar kamikaze move being done at Laguna Seca some years ago, involving the same two teams...

I recall Sebring this year having a bad judgement call as well ending in a Porsche taking out a Vette.
 
A quick look at the GTLM points and I think that move by the 912 which was 2nd in points 10 back of the 4 car is now 12 points back. The 911 gains 5 points over finishing 3rd and gets the nice trophy thanks to some interesting team tactics. I wont be surprised if a Corvette DP doesnt shuffle a 911 off into the sand at Laguna next race.:lol:
 
For those who have terrible cable systems and no FS2.



I have to add that Imsa did a nice job with the HPD BOP. The managed to take a car with more HP and torque and make it as slow as last years car and a non factor.:bowdown::boggled:

Yeah that'd be me. All I had for video was the FOXsportsgo with the 66 in car cam. The other feed for the Porsche never worked for me, figures.

I was joking, hence the :sly:. ;). Heck, NASCAR would probably give the Porsche driver an award for best move of the race and best sportsmanship.
 
Amusing that Andy Meyrick covered for Sean Rayhall due to Rayhall's ELMS run at Silverstone.

Bump and run was hardly anything, many teams have used it(hard racing), themselves included. So...

Just watching a replay of Longbeach. I watching what is think is not the main CBS broadcast, I think it's the one with RLM commentary?

There's an American guy doing most of the talking, and a British guy accompanying him. I think the American guy was a pitlane reporter for RLM during Daytona - he had a nice monologue as the sun was setting.

That said, I want to rip my ears off listening to him do main commentary. I can't put my finger on exactly what it is, but he seems to ramble on and on, and he's actually distracting me from what's happening on track.

Sorry, I just needed to vent my frustration :P

Right, my bad. Either way, I was watching the RLM broadcast. It was Jim Rollin (spelling?) who realy got under my skin.

My personal issues aside, that was a pretty decent race. Finish in GTLM was kind of garbage, that was pretty weak sauce. I'm sure it wasn't intentional, but still...
 
I don't think it was a team orders thing, Makoweiki just crashes a lot. He was leading at Le Mans for Aston a few years ago and the commentators said just to wait, and he would throw it away. Not even half an hour later he was in the barrier.

Either way, it was a sad way to end the race. Corvette deserved that one.

It was just a stupid move that wasn't going to work (Especially from that far back), though it likely comes off intentional to others after that massive accident at Sebring.
 
What happened to all the Fords in DP? Are they only running the enduros this year?

Ganassi only ran the DP at Daytona to try and go back to back...but it all went horribly wrong quickly lol.
 
Post race analysis. http://nasportscar.com/2016-imsa-analysis-long-beach/ Ferrari might need a slight tweak and the Ligier went from the best car to worst in 1 race. Losing 1 sec from turns 5-8 is strange because that car should be strong in that section of the track. Either the setup was bad or the turbo boost cut really killed them in the mid speed turns.

I don't remember the 911 doing a 360 spin at Daytona? Probably because, it was a nudge? If his tires hadn't been shot he could've held 2nd then too.

If the 912 had nudged the Vette', I would not be nearly as annoyed. This is GT racing, I expect that. Wouldn't be happy but that's what happens when a race comes down to the last few minutes. Not a divebomb that'd make a Stuka jealous.

I thought the 911 had a wing problem in daytona and spun twice at the kink in the infield. Or maybe it was the 912. Or maybe it wasn't. I could be wrong. don't quote me on this.
