What could've caused it? Just seems odd that only the 10 had it happen but not the 5, 90 or 31.

Well the 5, 31 and 90 are Coyote chassis'. The #10 is the only Dallara Corvette DP and the last Dallara DP around (in major competition anyway).

Oy, that ain't good. :scared: Not a pretty exit for the DP's last Rolex 24. To be fair that could happen to any closed cockpit car no?

I think I remember hearing from the IMSA radio that its not uncommon to have that happen.

The cockpits aren't sealed on any of the cars that I know of. Just takes a small leak from the exhaust and carbon monoxide flowing out to get into the cockpit. Same way there was smoke in the cockpit of the 55 last night when its engine let go and caught fire.

I keep forgetting that, so hard to tell the difference when its literally skin deep.

Congratulations to Katherine Legge for winning the RLM Spirit of the race award, she could've been up their fighting Pipo Derani for the win if IMSA and/or Andy Meyrick had their eyes open last night.

I don't put much blame on him. He couldn't hear anything on the radio until after the collision, and once a wedge shaped car locks up the brakes, there's no steering it away from where it's pointed. IMSA should have given that PC 30 seconds at most to get refired and moving. That car spun just in front of the Deltawing a lap prior, and I don't think Andy expected the car to be there 100 seconds later.

Agreed that Katherine Legge deserved the RLM Spirit of the Race award, what a drive. They also should have gave one to Corvette Racing's Doug Fehan for letting his two boys race to the finish. Congrats to ESM on for getting that win. I picked the Mike Shank Ligier for the win, shame they broke after 10 hours.
 
I picked the 3 to win GTLM, but the 4 winning with the 3 making a frenzied drive and a desperate slingshot attempt to edge it out at the line is more than good enough for me. Still gutted to hear about Max. That does put a little damper on the celebrations, but overall, this race really set the bar high for the 2016 IMSA season.

I'm pretty certian I could sit here for the next hour and watch this over and over and over...

I've watched many endurance races, and it still blows my mind that after a full twenty four hours, a full day, races can come down to a matter of feet, or inches.

That right there, is why I'm a motorsports fan!

And this is why I will be back next year! Hopefully we can have an amazing GT fight between Porsche, Chevy, and Ford (not to mention Ferrari)!

I really need to pick up tickets to the Belle Isle race. Really, really need to get Belle Isle tickets.
 
Well worth watching. Really enjoyed it despite the Ford GT and Ford DP's problems. Hopefully, the gearbox problems in the GTs will be resolved before Sebring. Loved watching the Vettes battle it out at the end, that was pretty exciting! It amazed me that those 2 cars stayed together for most of the 24hrs. A true testament to the quality of their program. Good stuff. Hope everyone's favorite fared well in this one.
 
Looking at the timing and scoring page on IMSA.com, they have Maxime Martin as the only driver for the 97. I know he wasn't the only one in that car... :lol:

Did Turner not have any other drivers listed officially for that car?
 
Now...

Who's going to be there for Sebring?
 
Is there a video of the Porsche going along the infield roads circulating? I'm yet to find one...

My review of the race:

+ Excellent battles in every class people care about.
+ That final Corvette battle was immense.
+ It seems like they are getting pretty close with the prototype BoP.
+ IMSA.tv had excellent stream quality for the entire event I was awake for. Hopefully they keep it up for the rest of the races.
+ The Rolex 24 seems to be regaining some of it's international relevance that it lost during the Grand-Am era.

- IMSA's terrible race control
- Both the Deltawing and Mazda's having problems after showing some serious signs of improvement over past form.
- The Ford GT's both running into problems, hopefully they get them sorted before Sebring so we can have one more brand competing for wins.
- Not enough giant jenga action
