Looks neat.

They only used the middle opening, wow that's lazy

As was the case with Cadillac, not a lot they could in trying to balance Road car styling with functional aero for the front end. Hell, Nissan doesn't even have that clear a design language the way Cadillac or Mazda did (Apart from the corporate Grille)so it was always gonna be abit of a challenge. As posted out, a lot of the work is on the body itself.

Side profile is actually pretty nice. But the headlights have the Ligier profile (maybe the internals of the lights are a little different), so I think the only thing 'Nissan' about it is the thing over the nose, and maybe that vent opening towards the rear of the side pod. It doesn't 'scream' Nissan, like the Caddie and Mazda do. And yes, I did just spend a few minutes poking through Nissan's line of cars, and couldn't really find anything of note.

That being said, I would really like to see it in that great black and green livery.

This is a privateer effort funded by ESM unlike the Cadillac and Mazda programs. It will likely get the minimum amount of Nissan branding required unless they would like to add some more funding to the project.
Yeah I would assume so, just I don't see those trying to to think the styling has anything to do with Nissan, it's mechanicals are probably the only thing.

Just bring over this year's GT500 car that's soon to be obsolete and put an ESM wrap on it, should be fine to race ;)

They definetely taking liberties with the rules if that's what it will look like come round 1.

Also DPIs and GT500 would probably be very close in speed now, atleast close enough to hypothetically BOP the two.

A Nissan Badge for one.

Not what I'm talking about.

That's because we have already seen it with one, plus it clearly has Kodo styling from a Mazda.

This is what I'm reffering to. Not to a simple badge, but an actual design that extensively defines the brand. Can you tell me what that is on a Nissan? I can see it on a Mazda or on the Cadillacs, but not with Nissan.

Call me psychotic, but that ESM Nissan DPi looks great to me. Then again, this is the same guy who thinks that the Deltawing was one of the best looking prototype cars in a long time, so oops.

Point is though, what even constitutes something looking like a Nissan apart from a badge and Grille? Cadillacs have their edges, Mazdas has the Kodo design. What does Nissan have?

Also, I think it looks great so you're not alone @Formidable

Nissan's have nothing but that grille nonsense they have been parading about and the occasinal side ways V shape they have been putting on their lights:

Maybe someone could do a render of what the car would look like with the carbon grille in silver with a Nissan badge in the middle, in carbon it basically hides the only thing that remotely resembles a Nissan.

I don't care if it looks like a Nissan or not...this is awful. It reminds me of THIS. :yuck:

At least you can tell that's a BMW at first glance

I agree with others though, I was looking forward to this Nissan, and this is disappointing. I don't see the Nissan at all.

And while Nissan doesnt have a "corperate design" like Mazda or Cadillac, if I look at the last 5-10 years of Nissan and Infiti cars, forgetting small ones like the Rogue, then to me at least, I definitely see common design elements across various models. Most of it is in the grill and headlights, but I feel they could have got more of that Nissan feel into this DPi.

Oh well...hope it races well...should be good for a few moments with Pipo at the wheel :)
