Totally off topic from the actual USGP

I’m watching a replay of FP2 right now, they showed a shot of Lewis walking through the paddock with an umbrella....damn if he isn’t channeling his inner Tupac :P. The nose ring, the black bandana tied with the knot in the front. Kind of made me chuckle. Then I started thinking about many of the photos and clips I’ve seen of him over the last week, and even there, the fashion that he’s wearing, the super bright sweaters and the like - it’s all so similar to the fashion style of the early 90s.

Normally I don’t pay too much attention to fashion stuff, and this isn’t a criticism of Lewis or anything like that. For me it was just kind of cool to see, confirmation of that old saying “everything old becomes new again:P

So...no idea which channel to watch to try and catch quali. Currently, both ESPN and ESPN2 on my TV guide menu say College Football....I did see a Spanish channel that wasn't Telemundo list it, but my upstairs TV with the more limited cable box doesn't get it! Maybe the main family TV will have an extra channel the upstairs one is missing. I don't mind watching in Spanish actually, if necessary .

Anyone have an idea why neither of the ESPN channels don't have it listed? I know they tend to switch around broadcasts without warning, so maybe quali will still show?

It’s on ESPNews

Apparently it's just starting to rain according to channel 4 coverage

Edit: False alarm.

Pretty good session all in all. Kimi’s found his mojo again now he’s cut free and gives zero ****s, Lewis on point and Vettel just not quite good enough.

With Kimi on the faster compound it’ll be interesting to see if he can finally make up a place on the first lap this season. Bottas is also going to have to up his game if he wants to help Lewis claim his fifth title tomorrow.

WOWWWW HAMILTON WINS POLE! WHO COULD'VE PREDICTED THIS ****ING OUTCOME!!! SO DAMN EXCITING I WONDER WHAT'S GONNA HAPPEN TOMORROW!!!!

🤬 this season.

2018 was my first year watching the full indycar schedule... Every weekend there was a race I'd be hyped and looking forward to it all day. For F1 now it's just a total chore to watch. I need to try and keep myself entertained while the procession goes on. I love the technology and glory of F1, but if you want to watch racing, F1 is not for you

Ferrari's new floor seems to be working, but too little, too late. If Vettel hadn't gotten that penalty...

That near 0.4 gap between Lewis and Bottas is how Lewis earns his keep. And it keeps him ahead of the Ferraris.

Oh well, maybe next year.

They actually didn’t run the new floor in qualifying as they couldn’t gather enough data in the wet practice sessions (at least according the Sky)

Before the race starts we also have a number of Dutchies above the track.
Greetings from my neighbor AirForce base Gilze-Rijen.

Hopefully it will give Max some extra wings

The quali lap comparisons. Really surprising just how much more straight-line speed the Ferrari powertrain has now. Every time Vettel is able to get on the power it just pulls away from the Merc.

Also these graphics are fantastic, the little gap indicator in the middle is so clean and tidy while displaying exactly what you want to see

I'm actually wondering the same thing for the race itself. ABC's schedule doesn't show that they're even broadcasting the race, and ESPN will only run a tape delayed version about 3 hours after the live coverage. Not sure what to think of that, but please correct me if I'm mistaken.

Hmmm. Didn't catch the quali live, it was on at nope-in-the-morning over here. Given that and the speed differential in qualifying, it seems like what should have been a runaway romp for Ferrari got clipped by some mighty bad luck in Free Practice.

Max has been hit with a gearbox penalty (following his suspension damage in Quali), promoting him to Driver of the Day

It's his own fault. He was told to stop the car immediately but insisted several times he could get it back to the pits. If he'd stopped straight away he might not have wrecked the driveshaft. His mouth's too fast for his brain sometimes :D

Unless Red Bull have said as much I don’t think that was the issue. Soon as his suspension popped his drive shaft stuck out the side. In Ted’s quali notebook he spoke to Horner who said they might replace the gearbox just to be safe for Mexico... so I’m guessing it’s just a precaution more than anything

Wow, so Vettel was pretty close to being faster the entire lap, and then just lost it on the dreaded last corner (T20)! Reminds me of many iRacing races I've done at COTA, the last sector can really make or break your lap. I mean really, from T13 on is where a lot of the trickiest corners reside (not ignoring T1 or T9-T10).

Seems to be properly listed on my ABC channel. Like the Canadian GP, since it's relatively "local" it receives the widest possible outreach by being put on the most available channel.

That makes sense. I checked around and it would appear it's simply my local listing that either has it wrong or thinks they'll get more viewers showing "Vacation Creation" instead... God I hope not. :banghead:

Expecting Kimi to grab the first corner.

Ferrari's good off the line usually but this run up is quite favorable to the second place starter and Kimi running softer tyres, If it looks like Kimi is taking it I'd probably cool off and get him later on. Lewis might not be so lucky with contact this time.

Hope they don't do an awful driver introduction by Michael Buffer like they did last year.

I wonder if Lewis will angle his car to launch towards left part of track.

Ricciardo and Verstappen’s race overalls.

Pirelli have upped the PSI for all the teams by 1.2 ...could shape it up a little

As usual nice to see the ‘display’ attack helicopters for the national anthem...
