Varane to United is almost done, both clubs have a agreed a deal in principle and he just needs to pass a medical. Very happy with our window so far. 👍

More bad news for Wayne Rooney after he injured one of his own players!, Darby are in trouble as it is with a transfer embargo and only nine first team players and now Jason Knight is out for two months as a result of a tackle from Rooney in training...

Harry Kane didn't show up for Spurs training today, he isn't injured nor is it a Covid issue he was expected to turn up and he didn't.

We all know he wants a move away but considering he is both Spurs and England captain you would have thought that he'd be acting a bit more professionally, he is expected to be fine, he could be on strike!

Jack Grealish has been training with Villa as normal despite the recent interest in him shown by Man City, although the difference here is that Kane has asked to leave and Grealish hasn't...yet!

Man City close to signing Jack Grealish from Aston Villa in a deal thought to be be worth £100 million.

The only interesting thing happening right now.

Grealish medical set for Thursday and Aston Villa have signed Danny Ings from Southampton for £25 million in a move which came from nowhere.

Bad news for Leicester tonight as Wesley Fofana was stretchered off with a bad leg injury following a tackle in their friendly against Villareal.

Derby County appear to be in even more crap tonight. Bearing in mind the fact they're definitely getting a points deduction once their real finances are submitted, and they only have eight players and are trying to sign eight more today - with only free agents (on one-year contracts) and six month loans allowed due to the embargo - apparently the existing players have all been given new contracts in a summit at the training ground today.

The contracts reportedly have no actual salary.

Fantasy English Premier League is here for any GTPers who want to join it.

Grealish to City confirmed and Messi to leave Barcelona both happened within an hour.

Football is Bonkers!

A few facts about the Grealish deal.

It broke the British transfer record.
Its the highest fee ever for an Englishman.
It broke the Premier League record.
Since taking over at Man City Guardiola has now £918 million!, Almost a Billion pounds!!

For all the complaining about Manchester City's deep pockets, they've never spent more than £70m (and that was De Bruyne), while United have done it four times, Chelsea twice, and Liverpool and Arsenal once each.
Thanks, Pep.

Oh no. We've signed Bailey Peacock-Farrell from Burnley on a season-long loan (as well as getting Jack Hunt back, and Sam Hutchinson back late last season, and seemingly keeping Windass, Paterson, Bannan, Green, and Palmer). Edit: And Lewis Wing also on loan for the season.

And our chairman, Chancer-Chansiri, seems to have realised that football isn't his job, money is his job, and he's letting our new manager get on with it.

I do not like this feeling of optimism.
This is... so weird. Over the summer we've signed:

Jaden Brown, Free, Huddersfield
Dennis Adeniran, Free, Everton
Olamide Shodipo, Loan, QPR
Jack Hunt, Free, Bristol City
Bailey Peacock-Farrell, Loan, Burnley
Lewis Wing, Loan, Middlesbrough
Florian Kamberi, Loan, St. Gallen
Theo Corbeanu, Loan, Wolves
Marvin Johnson, Free, Middlesbrough/Free Agent
George Byers, Undisclosed, Swansea City
Lee Gregory, Undisclosed, Stoke City

We'd not have gone down with that lot in the squad. The Chancer really does seem to be going hands-off at last and letting Moore get on with it. I wouldn't be surprised if we announced Messi tomorrow.

I do not like optimism at Hillsborough. Not one bit.

And Marca claim that Man City is the likely destination.
In my opinion Messi will either go to PSG or be a Barca player next season.

It's not really news that Messi has left Barcelona, his contract expired a month ago, he's been a free agent since then. This finger pointing at La Liga could be a tactical game to put pressure on them to allow the deal to go through.

Another development which may influence matters is that La Liga recently sold a 10% stake to CVC Capital Partners for €2.7bn which will see each club receive a sizeable cash injection over he next 3 years.

Depending on timing of the payments and how those payments influence La Ligas financial rules, this could prove to a late influencial factor in the story.

If Messi does agree to a deal with Man City, Kane is going to have some egg on his face. I still think he reunites with Neymar at PSG. They won't pass up a chance to sign him for no transfer fee.

Bear in mind, Messi wears the number 10 shirt, City have just signed Grealish and given him the number 10 shirt and Guardiola has distanced the club from a deal for Messi today.

That's not absolute confirmation, but it's unlikely City are going to go in for Messi. I think PSG or they'll find a way for him to stay at Barcelona.

Football league season starts tonight with Bournemouth v West Brom in the Championship.

Community Shield is tomorrow between Leicester and Man City, kicking of a 5.15 on BT.
