Yeah plenty of biff and barge. Got pushed off by a certain bald YouTuber with awful video editing skills. Made sure to return the favour so I'll be keeping an eye out for that footage.
So did I.... I was really happy with how things were going by lap 2, kept my nose clean and moved up to the top 10 after butchering qualifying....and then got cleaned out turn 3 :(

Does anyone else here use a controller? I'd like to blame it for my poor FIA performances (surely it isnt just my lack of talent...). I'm usually pretty good in the daily races where there is no tyre wear. I'm thinking my movements could be too aggressive and burning up the tyres.

Its my birthday next month and I'm going to treat myself and go all out.... looking at the new Next Level Racing rig and Fanatec gear.... any advice?

I'm on the controller as well. I noticed you and I had the same flashing in the turns as you blew back past me. And controller is nearly always worse on tire wear, but with practice it gets better. Still not as good as you can get on the wheel though.

Just gave away a top 5 and highest points haul of the season because I'm the dumbest person on the game : I miscalculated/read the fuel gauge and spent the last lap at fuel map 3, got caught by 2 cars, crossed the line p7 but with 1.1 laps left.

Just... :eek::lol::lol::lol::lol:
Oh nooooooo

Well I've done some testing and no idea what's best. 1 or 2 stops work about the same for me, but in a race 1 will be better.
Makes no odds what you do as 3 races and ever one was disgusting. One or two good clean drivers who do their best to race and the rest just hit anyone that helps their cause. Going to have one go at USA and then I might just quit this game till something changes.

I had never raced at Alsace, but since I needed scores due to missing too many rounds and getting some ruined by dirty drivers, I gave it a go...

CSA Slot 3, door #2. I had pretty good pace in TT (1:59.5 PB) but I did a really poor qualy lap, which left me P4 on the grid. Would have been on pole with the laptime I did minutes before in a lobby in qualy conditions. Went for a 2nd lap but it's impossible to improve with shot tyres.

I decided to start on hards, which was a bad decision with hindsight. I had a great launch off the line and was up to 2nd before braking into T1. If I knew that I probably would have started on mediums as the leader, who walked away with the race comfortably. Instead, I was half spun by a divebomber 3 places behind (chain reaction) into turn 3, and was inmediately down to 9th place. Down there, being on hards was a nightmare, was divebombed and pushed wide many times, losing several seconds per lap. Really poor driving standards. :ouch:

Down to last after pitting for mediums at the end of lap 4, I then started getting places back from drivers pitting and making a few overtaking moves. The good thing is that so many cars were bunched up and pushing each other wide that I twice did double-moves by just braking early, taking a wide line and getting a much better exit.

In the last few laps, after I finally broke the slipstream to the guys behind, I started to close in on the guy in 3rd who was on (4-5 lap fresher) hards. I got close to his slip, but my tyres were too worn at the end to make the compound difference count, so I finished just behind him.

P4 in the end, not a bad result, but I definitely could have been at least 2nd without all the lost time. Should have started on mediums... Will keep the result though, points do count and I'm not looking forward to racing this combo again...

I was almost in tears laughing at the carnage....until I ended up a victim of it. That guy was making so many friends

I'm not sure how it works in the DR A-rated lobbies, but in the low C/high D lobbies, it is more likely than not that at least one fast driver is going to end up with a one-minute pit penalty.

Referring to today's Nations Cup event.

I got 1st place on my first race because the driver in front of me didn't use Hard tyres. I laughed, and it was a hearty laugh.

Next race, I got promoted to 3rd place for the same reason. 1st place didn't use Hard tyres, and promoted me to a podium finish. My laugh was hearty still.

I must say it: I love this game. I love sim racing.

I've done all sorts of sports in my life, I'm now a sports teacher and I have to say, sim racing can be very similar to an actual sport. Emotions, sweat, joy, rage, competition, "friendship", technique, tactics, training, analysing... all you can get.

Yesterday was so much fun despite the neverending understeer, I had a lot a great battles with skillful and respectful players.

When I watch the replays, I'm proud of being able to compete with guys that I used to see only on streams a few months ago and it just gives me extra-motivation to train harder (if I find the time). Like @VulcanSpirit said in his latest post, I don't know if the dedication will be worth it, but I'd like to find my limits.

Well, that being said, at the end I didn't meet my expectations in terms of points and shaved quite a bit off my DR, but it doesn't really matter, or does it? :P

The last dance (of 2021 and GT Sport FIA Nations)

I'm starting a new job (actually today) and I will have to commute in and out of NYC again, with next week commuting on Tues/Wednesday and then going out to PA for the weekend next week, this week of FIA's is going to have to count.......like it's my last week. Wasn't feeling overly confident in this combo. I weirdly seem to struggle in high speed corners. I must have watched Mistah's video like 5 times, even slow-mo ing it to see where I was going wrong. Practice lobbies in qualy trim I was finally getting down to the low 2:00's so it was time to dance

Slot 1: Waited an eternity to let people go on ahead and get tangled up in each other, while I waited for a clear track. Got my 2:00.3 but it was only good for 11th in Top Split. I had a poor start, but my teammate didn't so I let him by. Then the driving was just rough. The Meds seemed to just bully people on the hards out the way so I slipped back to like 15th. It's ok though because through my strategy I would get them back. After the pit cycles I was up to 12th but that was all she wrote. If it wasn't for the poor start and getting my Rocky on a top 10 would have been possible, but with most of the aliens likely leaving I was hopeful for slot 2

Slot 2 (and praying I didn't have to do slot 3): So off we go again, same qualy strat. Did a 2:00.4 which wasn't terrible but there was some food left on the table. Qualified 8th behind my teammate this time. Again poor start but unlike start 1 I was able to get it back and stay not only where I qualified but in the slip. The aliens were leaning on each other hard, as one was on H and the others on M. This allowed my teammate and I who were on H to keep in touch with them. Learning some lessons from slot 1 we decided to go for the undercut on L3.We jumped everyone at one point and we were on for a 4th and 5th but Roadbeef eventually figured both of us out, he got me really good at the final esses which caught me completely off guard, I had no choice but to tip my hat to him and let him go. He quickly made it around my teammate. My teammate seemed to suffer more from tire wear so when I had a big run and it was safe to pass I went for it to see if I could catch up to Roadbeef and a possible podium. The main thing was to not let the others behind catch up (which they never did). Eventually I came across the line in 5th and 274 points. That's about as good as I hope and we ran with our points haul.

With this being the last race for nations I am expected to come home with 1,073 points and out the door as of now with 67.6K DR. It's a little bitter sweet because I was aiming for top 16 in NA and I'm going to fall a little short of that, but if my results can hold onto a top 20 I can be satisfied with that. Manu is another story, I've missed too many races so I really need a good one. So this Saturday the Aston is going for broke!

Well...

Slot 1: Qualified 14th and finished 15th in what was honestly a better-than-usual performance from me in a first slot Top Split.

Slot 2: Started and finished 12th but felt I could've had a Top 10 if I hadn't forgotten how to drive for the first 2 laps. I lost 4 spots in one turn alone on the first 2 laps. I kept clipping the inside edge of the inside curb at that annoying uphill left-hander before the chicane at the end of the lap and understeered off the track as a result on Laps 1 and 2, which dropped me down to nearly last. Once I remembered how to drive again I managed to get those spots back.

Slot 3: As usual, this was the slot where Top Split thinned out enough to give me a fighting chance at good points. I qualified 3rd with my best time of the night at a 2:00.5. I decided to start on Hards in spite of being near the front as I had a feeling I'd be stuck in a fight and didn't want to waste my Mediums. It turns out I was right, and I would've looked very clever with my strategy if I didn't get pulled back into the rest of the pack that also wanted to fight. I lost count of the number of times I got shoved wide. i wound up 8th and decided for the first time this season to do Slot 4, even though it would mean sacrificing sleep. I had too much pace to end up with a score that wouldn't even count, especially since my in-state rival for the championship scored decently and would've been tied with me on total points.

Slot 4: Took pole and led lights-to-flag for my first win and only my second podium in either championship this season. I had the 3rd-place starter breathing down my neck for the first stint, but they fell back having to take fuel on their pitstop, and I won by over 6s. This was my 2nd-best score of the season after my 234-point 7th place at SSRX. At least losing over an hour of sleep had some payoff...

No I don't have a problem with my priorities. Why do you ask?

Nations Round 9 - TT's at Alsace

After some pretty decent practice laps, including a dip in to the 1:59's, and having had success with the Gr4 TT in the past, felt good about this race.

Was lucky enough to get out of the pits first, with a clear track in front, things were looking great right away. Then, my TV did the 'random turning off' thing while on my out lap, so I was caught by the cars behind me and wasn't so clear for my two hot laps. Given the distraction put in two awful attempts and ended up qualifying only 9th. Right behind the most notorious NA region IOTW. Great.

Kept a set of fresh Mediums on and planned for 8M/4S and a run to the front. Or at least on the bumper of the multiple-time IOTW, because as soon as the lights went out, he was up to his usual running people off the track, if they were so fortunate enough to get beside him. I resigned to just following, not taking the fight to him, and hoping for a top-5, after we passed a few people.

I came out of my pit stop behind a cluster of apparent no-stoppers, in 11th or 12... bummer! But I was surprised that fresh H's were good enough to get by most of them, and I ended up finishing 6th, after running my way back up. I had pitted in 4th, so I think some no-stoppers got by me, and I was held up in that first stint for a few laps or I think it would have been better.

Could have done better, with better qualifying and maybe pressing harder when I knew I was being held up in the first stint. But: happy enough with a new 4th-best score, so hopefully will maintain my overall ranking when the final tally is taken, even if I don't do well or run the last race. (Edit: ran the numbers, it looks like I should remain in the top 80-100 in the final tally, when 4 scores are counted... although hard to predict, if a bunch of people have a great final round, I may slide out. I'm not super at Laguna Seca, so I hope it works out!)

Door #8 / Qualified 9th / Race: 6th / ~700 DR (at 40k) / 151 FIA points

Always fun to see the different liveries on these spec races. Lots of good ones, usually.

Tied my 3rd-best FIA score for this season, for my 4th best when the final count is taken. CRB / up 3 spots.

If even a top split race was that way, now I understand what I endured on my split...
are they using 3 or 4 scores this season?
4. It's 1/3 of the races, rounded up, so a 4th score counts after round 10.

Late to the party! My alt has nearly caught my main, so I was in a lobby with familiar names and nemisises. I qualified in 7th and quickly moved up to 3rd thanks to false starts and folks going wide on the first banked right hander (t3).

One of the false starters ran me down so i let him by to use his slip to catch p1 and p2. Unfortunately I got lost on track and broke late punting him in t5 a lap later. Lost 2 or 3 spots waiting on him to give the position back. Totally my fault, felt terrible. I apologized afterwards as well.

Lap 9 caught a nemesis that I owed a punt, but I wasnt going to force the issue. He went deep on hard right near the end before the up hill, which gave me a great run heading toward the hill. l was passing on the outside heading up hill and the car made a tiny wiggle from being on the curb. This caused my TT to bump his TT. Well, that set him off and he tried to pit me. He failed but I was certain he was fuming because God forbid you even touch his car. He can ram half the field off track but touch his car and its game on!

After that failed attempt to pit me he dive bombed T1 and made contact with my rear quarter. I knew t3 would be another dive bomb so I just held back and turned in late.

Sure enough, he sent it. Shocked! So I went up the inside and escorted him off the track. Not nice, but I wasnt going to deal with his child like behavior all race. I'm done with him. He gets zero tolerance from ole Greddy.

Finished p7 and that was my last race. I had pace for p2 and knew I could do better but didnt want to deal with the dodge driving douchebag all night. Unfortunately we are in the same rooms again.

You did well. There's a guy, a fellow countryman (a Swiss, with 86 in his name) that kept ruining my races every time we used to be in the same lobby, because we were competing for position in the domestic rankings.

Then I gained enough DR to avoid him in the next couple of races. Wednesday, I met him for the 1st time in a while and I was pleased to see that he became even worse! 5 people reported him after the race... heh, once a moron, always a moron.

He called me a name after a race once because he got me confused with another British guy who he drove into as he was unghosting. A very angry person.

Thought I might have a look at manufacturers series for tonight....I did a pretty good lap I thought, 1m53.5..... and then I checked the top 10 times. Almost 2 sec off the pace of the fastest GT-R. Wow.

Lago Maggiore is a track I struggle with, and the Vantage is not well suited to this combo. I jumped into slot 1 expecting nothing and when the lobby loaded I was door 18. Now expecting even less.
Qualifying was very well behaved and I don’t think anyone had any trouble with other drivers. My flying lap was ok and I found myself Q12. Suddenly 8 spots ahead of expectations.

The early running is good and clean with the only hiccup a 650s that goes wide in the esses on lap 1 and loses all its momentum. Incredibly he pulls off the racing line down the back straight to let everyone go by. Kudos to him and I’m into p11.

I stay in p11 until the first car (another Vantage) pits on lap 6. I pit on lap 7 along with most of the field and rejoin in p13. 2 laps later the remaining cars have pitted and I’m up to p10. The extra spot gained as a Mustang who had been in p9 refueled and dropped to p13.

The next couple of laps see me overtaken by a pair of Jags who seem to have better pace and I settle in to a rhythm in the hope they’ll fight each other and let me back in.

Nothing dramatic happens for the next few laps and as we start lap 14 I’ve saved enough fuel to open the throttle and run a couple of laps flat out. That’s when it becomes clear that one of the Jags ahead has been burning fuel to hold p10. He now has to fuel save and by the time we reach Big Banky Boi I have reeled him in and go past.
Lap 15 sees me taking good chunks of time off p10 but by the time we reach the 3 right handers it’s clear I’m not catching him. Just when I have accepted a p11 finish, the Vantage who pitted on lap 6 loses the battle with worn tyres and runs wide on the last turn and bites the grass. I take the invitation and go through to finish p10.

A completely unexpected result for me and the points will count to my season. Also, the cleanest and most enjoyable Manu of the season. I even got an apology from a driver who accidentally tapped my rear into the BBB for no negative effect.

Faith in FIA restored.

Just missed slot 1 so tried slot 2, wish I hadn't bothered. It's getting worse, people aren't even bothering to try and race anymore. Was punted 3 times on first lap and twice the guy would have been faster just racing me. Still love it when I get a good race, but it's so seldom now I'm close to deleting this and never coming back.

Went in on my wife’s A/S account in the AMG GT3. Started 4th, behind a WRX, Supra and P1 RC F(qualified 1 second faster than all of us). I was able to get up to P2, couple seconds behind the leader, before pit stop. Fuel economy wasn’t the best. 6.2 Laps in the tank at Lap 7. Pitted with the leader, as the Supras went around again.
RC F had 59% and didn’t need to fill. I topped up to 59% and exited in 6th or 7th. After the other cars pit, I was now 9 seconds behind the leader. Save a bit of fuel if you can.

Anyway, maintained 2nd, but one of the Supras caught up, as I was a bit cautious with shifting to save a bit more fuel. Clean race for me. Supra didn’t rush the pass. I opened the door and was able to pace myself. Built the gap to P4, from 3 seconds to about 6 seconds at the finish For 153pts. That drops the 94pts from Race 6. 12pts shy of P1, until final calculations update.

Gr.4 SLS was good at Monza for my win there. Should be good at Fuji, as my final race in GT SPORT.

So had a not bad race, still really dirty but I won the fights and had some really good racing with a Thai. So I thought I try again with my Porsche account and see how that goes. Fuel looked great, but tyre wear was terrible and then I made a silly little mistake and ended up in a group of idiots. 1 lap later I quit.

Q16 after two poor runs.
P11, made up space on the opening laps and had a decent battle for the second half of the race. May have also driven into the back of Belgian in a 911 who was being mega aggressive making moves and shoveling people out the way. Not that happy with the level of racecraft on that lobby either. One and done, forgot to save the replay like an idiot aswell. Last Manufacturers round for me as the Gr4 car is effectively useless.
