Race got underway as the first accident involves Allgaier getting spun into the wall and collecting Larson.
 
Larson with the special Aero package.

And apparently also with some suspension downgrades.

Race is now official as they have passed halfway.
Bowman turned by Stenhouse, collecting Chastain, McLeod, Truex and Preece.

37 gets bumped by Buescher and spins. Byron is collected. If the rain gets heavier, Wallace MIGHT win this race.
 
Just a heads up, sunset for Talladega is around 6:24 PM CDT (which is a little more than 3 hours from now).
Ok... Dryers are still out. Nascar seems to think they can get it dry and get going again, otherwise they would have called it already.
 
I cannot recall the last time we had 3 first time winners on the same weekend.
 
Another stat: This race marks the end of a 27 year drought of a McDonald's sponsored car winning a Cup race. The previous victory was by Jimmy Spencer in 1994 at Talladega.
 
In the words of Meatloaf, "2 outta 3 aint bad". I wonder if the crowd would still be chanting "Lets go Brandon" as they were during Brandon Brown's post race interview. That is what the reporter said they were chanting. Or were they?
