For the first time, VRR is doing a special event at Le Mans. LMP1, LMP2, GTE Pro, and GTE Am will do battle across two lobbies in a celebration of speed. Set up similar to our Suzuka 1,000km event, the 1,000 kilometer race distance will be split into two stints to allow for driver changes at the halfway point. It's our fastest event of the summer, will you join us?

Saturday, 7 August: Entry Registration open to all interested teams.
Saturday, 21 August: Final Balance of Performance revisions if necessary.
Wednesday, 25 August: Entry registration closes.
Saturday, 28 August: LMP1 Qualifying (1:00 p.m.-1:30 p.m.), GTE Pro Qualifying (1:40 p.m.-2:10 p.m.), LMP2 Qualifying (2:20 p.m.-2:50 p.m.), GTE Am Qualifying (3:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m.)

5.7.2. GTE Pro and GTE Am Classes require tire supplier decals on the rear of the car to the left side, as well as on the front of the car near the front headlights.
5.8. All GTE class cars must have yellow headlights equipped.
5.9. All cars must use single lug-nut wheels.
6.1. Entry registration for the 2021 VRR 1,000km of Le Mans opens on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at 4:00 p.m. Eastern U.S. time, and closes on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. Eastern U.S. time.
6.1.1. Entries partially filed before the closing date are permitted to be finished after that date, but before class qualifying.
6.2. Balance of Performance revisions are permitted up to the date of Saturday, August 21, 2021, unless a physics update requires an emergency revision after this date.
6.3. Qualifying day is Saturday, August 28, 2021. All four classes will have a 30 minute qualifying session with 10 minutes between each session to allow time for proper turnaround. LMP1 Class Qualifying will start at 1:00 p.m. Eastern U.S. time, and the process will continue until GTE Am Class qualifying ends around 3:30 p.m. Eastern U.S. time.
6.4. All teams that have qualified for the event must have their driver stints scheduled and finalized by Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern U.S. time.
6.5. The 2021 VRR 1,000km of Le Mans will take place on Saturday, September 4, 2021, with the race lobbies opening at 1:30 p.m. Eastern U.S. time.
6.5.1. All stint 1 competitors are required to be in their respective race lobbies by 1:45 p.m. Eastern U.S. time. Competitors that enter after this time must serve a stop/go penalty within the first three green flag laps of the stint. (Competitors that join, and then leave to fix connection issues will not be penalized.)
6.5.2. Each lobby host will require all competitors be on pit lane at 1:45 p.m. Eastern U.S. time to run a visibility check as well as check each car to ensure balance of performance is being adhered to.
6.5.3. If a race lobby host feels there is a questionable connection to a competitor, they may request that competitor begin a recon lap to check for individual latency.
6.5.4. If there are connection issues in either race lobby, standard VRR connection solution protocols will be followed as needed and as directed by race lobby hosts.
6.5.5. Both lobbies will be required to begin at the same time. Race lobby 1 will run the full scheduled 1,000km race distance due to LMP1 presence. Race lobby 2 will run an adjusted stint distance based on pace difference between LMP1 and LMP2 Class to ensure both lobbies finish stint 1 around the same time.
6.5.6. Stint 1 will finish under a planned caution once the class leaders have crossed the line to begin three laps to go in the stint. For race lobby 1, GTE Pro cars trapped between the LMP1 and GTE Pro class leaders will be permitted to overtake the LMP1 class leader to rejoin the tail of the field without losing another lap. Race lobby 2 will follow the same procedure for LMP2 and GTE Am class cars.
6.5.7. To end the stint, the entire field will drive through pit lane to simulate a full service pit stop, and permitting the stint 2 reset.
6.5.8. A 15 minute period will separate Stint 1 and Stint 2, to allow driver exchanges as needed, as well as allow the competitors running the full race distance the ability to use the restroom and take care of any other needs as quickly as possible. All cars will be required to enter pit lane and remain stationary when they enter for stint 2 for a repeat visibility and balance of performance check similar to the start of the race.
6.5.9. Competitors that do not join until after the 15 minute intermission timer ends will be required to serve a stop/go penalty within the first three green flag laps of stint 2.
6.5.10. Stint 2 will begin with a single lap under safety car conditions, with the field restarting at the end of the lap in single file order. Prototype classes should be starting at the front of the single file queue in this process.
7.1. VRR is a clean racing environment. Rough, but fair competition is expected. Accidents will be reviewed after each race and post race penalties may be assessed.
7.2. Drivers must be aware of their surroundings at all times in a multiclass environment. Drivers in the faster class will be expected to drive cleaner and use patience with their overtakes.
7.3. Drivers attempting to lap cars will need to use flashing lights as well as patience in passing.
7.4. Drivers being lapped do not have to pull off of the racing line, but must maintain a constant line until after they have been cleared by the passing car.
7.5. Drivers that have been lapped cannot fight to regain that lap unless they are engaged in a battle for direct position on track.
7.6. The racing surface is determined to be the asphalt/concrete which contains the racing line, as well as multicolored curbing. Drainage lines, sausage curbing, astroturf, and painted tarmac outside of the lined boundaries of the racing surface do not count as part of the racing surface.
7.6.1. Penalties will be assessed based on if drivers gain an advantage in comparison to the driver immediately in front of or behind (depending on which car is closest) by abusing track limits by either cutting the insides of corners or by using the outside boundaries on corners and corner exits.
7.7. During Parc Ferme, drivers will be directed to park in a designated area and await further instruction. Drivers that continue to move after this instruction, or drivers that cause collisions with other parked vehicles while under Parc Ferme, will have their qualifying times invalidated and will start the race from the rear of the entire field, regardless of class.
7.8. Pit entry and exit lines are to be respected at all times. Drivers that are found to cross the solid lines entering or exiting pit lane will receive a 10 second post race time penalty for each offense.
7.9. Passing under yellow flag conditions is prohibited. Drivers that pass under any yellow flag conditions and do not give the position back will be handed a 30 second post race time penalty.
7.10. Drivers that prematurely leave a race once will be given a disciplinary warning for the first offense. The second time a driver leaves a race before the finish, the driver will be suspended for one race. The third time a driver leave a race early, they will not be permitted to continue the season in any capacity.
7.11. Drivers vying to defend a position on track are allowed one defensive move. Making a defensive move as a reactive measure will earn a warning/penalty. This includes weaving back and forth across the racing surface.
8.1. Post race time penalties are penalties assessed to drivers for infractions observed during a racing event. These type of penalties are the default method of punishing a driver's actions if the event in question finishes under racing conditions.
8.1.1. Crossing the pit entry line (solid white or yellow line leading to pit lane) will result in a 5 second post race time penalty.
8.1.1.1. Making contact with walls leading into pit entry counts as a pit entry violation.
8.1.2. Crossing the pit exit line (solid white or yellow line merging drivers back onto the racing surface exiting pit lane) will result in a 5 second post race time penalty.
8.1.3. Repeated corner cutting resulting in an advantage being gained over nearby competitors will result in a 10 second post race time penalty for every three infractions.
8.1.4. Deliberate corner cutting, or corner cutting that gives a multiple second advantage will result in a 20 second post race time penalty.
8.1.5. Causing avoidable contact that does not give another competitor mechanical damage, but forces a driver off track will result in a 20 second post race time penalty.
8.1.6. Causing an avoidable collision that gives another competitor mechanical damage or directly causes the need for a safety car deployment will result in a 30 second time penalty.
8.1.7. A blocking maneuver that gives a challenging competitor damage, forces the competitor off track, or otherwise causes unnecessary danger will result in a 30 second post race time penalty.
8.1.8. A driver making more than 1 reactive blocking maneuver will be given a 10 second post race time penalty per additional reactive blocking maneuver after the first.
8.1.9. Jumping the start of the race or a restart after a safety car period will result in a 20 second post race time penalty.
8.1.10. Overtaking a competitor under yellow flag conditions will result in a 20 second post race time penalty.
8.1.10.1. Competitors on track with mechanical damage are permitted to be overtaken when safe to do so if the driver is unable to keep reasonable speed to catch the safety car queue.
8.1.11. Making contact with another car under safety car conditions or on the formation lap will result in a 30 second post race time penalty.
8.1.12. Rejoining the racing surface unsafely in front of oncoming traffic will result in a 20 second post race time penalty.
8.1.13. Overtaking a competitor for position while not having a minimum of two tires on the racing surface will result in a 10 second post race time penalty if the position is not returned to the original competitor within three laps.
8.1.14. Ignoring blue flags and impeding competitors attempting to get past in an effort to place the driver in question a lap down will result in a 15 second post race time penalty.
8.1.15. Warping back to pit lane during a qualifying session will result in the competitor in question starting the race from the rear of the class field.
9.1. A safety car period, otherwise known as a full course yellow, or a caution, is a period of race neutralization due to a severe accident or severe technical issues. Safety car periods will be controlled by the race director to ensure a safe and fair restart to an event with as minimal delay as possible.
9.2. Safety car periods can be utilized following accidents that involve more than three cars, accidents that result in two cars receiving engine damage, or mass disconnections.
9.2.1. Safety car periods utilized for accidents involving four or more cars do not require a specific amount of damage received by any of the competitors.
9.2.1.1. All involved cars could theoretically not receive mechanical damage at all. The requirement for a safety car to be deployed under these circumstances is having four or more cars come to a sudden or unsafe rest on or directly near the racing surface.
9.2.1.2. Additionally, cars that venture away from the racing surface but sustain mechanical damage can still count towards the safety car period so long that the damage was obtained indirectly or directly by the other cars involved.
9.2.2. Safety car periods utilized for accidents where two cars sustain engine damage can only be issued if the drivers involved type out the letters "ED" to indicate that those involved have engine damage.
9.2.2.1. Drivers that do not type out "ED" will not be counted towards the two car requirement for a safety car period of this kind.
9.2.2.2. Drivers that falsify reports of engine damage to have a safety car period deployed will be disqualified from the event in question and suspended for 60 days.
9.2.3. Mass disconnections, under VRR definition, is three or more competitors being disconnected from the race lobby within 180 seconds.
9.2.3.1. Safety car periods utilized for mass disconnection events will lead to a red flag period to regather the field and allow the disconnected drivers the ability to return to the event.
9.3. In the event that a safety car period is issued, the race director will type "SCD" for Safety Car Deployment. The entire track then becomes under yellow flag conditions, meaning overtaking is not permitted unless the cars being overtaken are off of the racing surface or hindered by mechanical damage. The field will continue at a reasonable pace until the overall race leader has passed the entrance of pit lane.
9.3.1. The overall race leader will hold a speed of 62 miles per hour/100 kilometers per hour once passed pit lane entrance when safe to do so, and all drivers are expected to leave two to three car lengths between each other while a part of the safety car queue.
9.3.2. If applicable, once the entire field has entered the safety car queue, GTE Class cars behind the P1/P2 Class leader, but ahead of the GTE Class leader, will be directed to pass the safety car queue and the safety car to the right hand side and catch back up at the rear of the safety car queue.
9.3.3. Once the GTE Class cars have been waved by, all of the P1/P2 Class cars caught behind GTE Class cars may also pass to the right hand side, but they will instead line up behind the P1/P2 Class leader without swapping order.
9.3.4. Once the field is ordered with P1/P2 Class cars in front of the queue, and GTE Class cars following, the safety car will indicate the race returning to green flag conditions and pull away, with the P2 Class leader holding the safety car speed. Racing conditions will return once the P1/P2 Class leader reaches the start/finish line.
9.4. The pit lane will remain open at all times of the race, with exception to red flag periods, in which the pit lane will close. Drivers are expected to pit prior to catching the safety car queue, and drivers that pit after catching the queue will start behind all of the GTE Class cars on the race restart.
9.5. In the event of a mass disconnection, the normal safety car procedure will be applied until the field has been sorted correctly. Instead of returning to racing conditions, the field will be stopped by the safety car in the final sector before reaching the entrance to pit lane. The race director will record the leaderboard, as well as obtain the laps completed by the class leaders before all cars vacate the track to allow the disconnected drivers back into the race.
9.5.1. Drivers involved in a mass disconnection event will be scored based on their last completed lap, and will restart the race at the rear of the field, regardless of class.
9.5.2. Drivers that disconnect separately without a mass disconnection event will be classified as failed to finish due to technical failures.
10.1. The room mode for 2021 VRR 1,000km of Le Mans will be set to "Practice/Race".
10.2. Lobbies will be clearly coded for understanding. Each lobby will include the round number and which lobby it is. For example, lobby one would have the room title "2021 VRR 1,000km of Le Mans - Race Lobby 1".
10.3. Laps will be specifically set to include the scheduled race distance publicly displayed as well as an additional lap for formation lap. An example of this would be the event at Dragon Trail having a scheduled distance of 74 laps, while the race lobby will be scheduled for 75 laps to include the formation lap.
10.4. The starting procedure for each event will be a standing start to start the formation lap.
10.5. Grid order will be initially set to "Fastest First", unless that lobby has to abandon an attempted start. From that point on, the lobby order will be determined via "Set by Host".
10.6. Boost will not be utilized in any formal VRR championships.
10.7. Slipstream Strength will always be set to real for this event.
10.8. Visible Damage will be turned on.
10.9. Mechanical Damage will always be set to "Heavy" for premier VRR championships and events.
10.10. Tire wear will be set to normal wear, or x1.
10.11. Fuel Consumption will be set to normal, or x1.
10.12. Initial Fuel will be set to 100 liters.
10.13. Grip on Wet Track/Track Edge will always be set to "Real" for VRR championships.
10.14. Race Finish Delay will be set to try matching the amount of time needed to complete a lap.
10.15. Category of cars allowed in the lobby will be preset to no limit.
10.16. In game automatic Balance of Performance will be turned off due to VRR having its own set Balance of Performance.
10.17. Maximum Tire Rating will be be the soft racing compound for P1 Class cars only.
10.18. Minimum Tire Rating will be set to the medium tire compound for LMP2 and GTE Class cars only.

Thread update 1.02.

  • Initial Balance of Performance for all cars has been made available via Google Docs at the top of the initial post in this thread. This is subject to change until the 21st of August.
  • A rule has been added to the rulebook, limiting the amount of times a team can change car reservations to two. This rule has been made available in Section 1, Section 3, and Section 4 as it pertains to LMP1, GTE Pro, and GTE Am classes.
  • A clarification has been made regarding car reservation options. Both GTE classes share the same cars, so the entry limit per car choice is in regards to both GTE classes as a whole.

#26 is an LMP2 number, so unavailable in LMP1.

Thread has been updated to include formal numberplates for LMP2, GTE Pro, and GTE Am, and current entry list has been updated as well. 4 LMP1, 2 LMP2, 3 GTE Pro, 9 GTE Am currently are in the roster. More than willing to facilitate more LMP2 and GTE Pro entries after the deadline tomorrow if necessary.
