If I was to guess which team was going to deny a double Sheffield relegation, it wouldn't have been Wednesday. Great win for yous.

We somehow blitzed 3 goals past Norwich then held on for dear life. No surprise how much better we are with Windass in the side.

PSG's Ousmane Dembele won the men's Balon D'or last night with Barcelona's Aita Bonmati winning the women's Balon D'or, its the first time winner in Dembele but the third year in a row that Bonmati has won it.

Lamine Yamal finished second in the men's with Vitinha third and Mo Salah fourth, in the women's Mariona Calendtey finished second with Alessia Russo third and Alexia Putellas fourth.

Well the Balon D'or historically is the biggest one of the lot.

Carabao Cup Fourth Round Draw.

Arsenal v Brighton
Grimsby v Brentford
Swansea v Man City
Newcastle v Spurs
Wrexham v Cardiff
Liverpool v Crystal Palace
Wolves v Chelsea
Wycombe v Fulham

There were a few upsets in the third round, League Two Grimsby continuing their impressive run by knocking out Sheffield Wednesday, Swansea had a very late and dramatic comeback beating Forest with a 97th minute winner after being 2-0 down, League One Cardiff knocked out Premier League Burnley, outside of that the bigger teams went through pretty comfortably.

Ties to be played from 27th October.

Well, after a 3-0 loss to a 10-man Chelsea, Nottingham Forest have sacked Ange Postecoglu, making his 39 days the shortest Premier League permanent managerial stint ever.

Ange was always an odd choice here, as his bombastic high-line style of play was completely counter to what had got Nottingham Forest success in the past season with defensive counter-attacking football. Ange suits other teams, but not the current Forest team. Let's see who Marinakis chooses next.

He was sacked just 18 minutes after the game and he hadn't done his post match interview.

Word on the street is we've had several interested parties who've noped clean out of dealing with Kim Jong Tuna, so with administration basically taking him out of it we might be okay.

And a mad rush to the shop to buy shirts. Hillsborough will be full tomorrow, assuming they're at home.

Never seen a club broadcast an interview with an administrator before, but this is cool...

Reminds me of the time the Administrator of Caterham appeared in the official Team Principals Conference in Abu Dhabi 2014

Fingers crossed it all comes good for Wednesday in the end.

What.

Edit: Wow.

When we brought Brendan back to Celtic two years ago, it was done with complete trust and belief in his ability to lead the club into a new era of sustained success. Unfortunately, his conduct and communication in recent months have not reflected that trust.

In June, both Michael Nicholson and I expressed to Brendan that we were keen to offer him a contract extension, to reaffirm the club's full backing and long-term commitment to him.

He said he would need to think about it and revert. Yet in subsequent press conferences, Brendan implied that the club had made no commitment to offer him a contract. That was simply untrue.

We met with Brendan regularly, including in December last year and at the start of the summer, with regular dialogue in between, to discuss and agree our collective strategy, priorities, and approach. Every player signed and every player sold during his tenure was done so with Brendan's full knowledge, approval, and endorsement. Any insinuation otherwise is absolutely false.

His later public statements about transfers and club operations came entirely out of the blue. At no point prior to those remarks had he raised any such concerns with me, Michael, or any member of the board or executive team.

In reality, he was given final say over all football matters and was consistently backed in the recruitment process - including record investment in players he personally identified and approved.

When his comments were made publicly, I sought to address them directly. Brendan and I met for over three hours at his home in Scotland to discuss the issue. Despite ample opportunity, he was unable to identify a single instance where the club had obstructed or failed to support him. The facts did not match his public narrative.

Regrettably, his words and actions since then have been divisive, misleading, and self-serving. They have contributed to a toxic atmosphere around the club and fuelled hostility towards members of the executive team and the board. Some of the abuse directed at them, and at their families, has been entirely unwarranted and unacceptable.

Every member of the Board and executive team is deeply passionate about Celtic and acts at all times with professionalism, integrity, and a shared desire for success. What has failed recently was not due to our structure or model, but to one individual's desire for self-preservation at the expense of others.

Weird stuff going on in Glasgow. Edinburgh completely outclassing Glasgow - and in fact just Hearts outranking the Old (ish) Firm in most metrics...

It would be safe to say that my Jambo mates were in a far better mood than I was on Sunday, which considering I was on morphine is really saying something.

Interesting times at SW, but glad that administration is likely to result in a better outcome, so hoping that works out. That said, with a guy called Wigfield in charge, I hope they don't become Sheffield Saturday Night.

Its weird both the Old Firm have sacked their managers in the season.

Usually its one or the other depending on who's not winning.

Carabao Cup Quarter Final Draw.

Arsenal v Crystal Palace
Cardiff v Chelsea
Man City v Brentford
Newcastle v Fulham

Crystal Palace beat Liverpool 3-0 at Anfield tonight as Liverpool's problems continue, they have now lost 6 out of the last 7 in all comps and lost five consecutive domestic matches for the first time since 1955. Holders Newcastle beat Spurs 2-0 to progress, Arsenal beat Brighton 2-0, Man City came from behind to beat Swansea 3-1, Chelsea beat Wolves 4-3 in a bit of a mad game.

Cardiff are by far the lowest ranked team left and the only non-Premier League team left, they beat Wrexham 2-1 last night. Grimsby' fairytale cup run came to an abrupt end with a 5-0 hammering at home to Brentford, Fulham needed penalties to beat Wycombe.

Ties to be played week commencing 15th December.

This just shows off how much of a stumbling block and obstructionist Kim Jong Tuna was, and more than hints at his desire to destroy the club because the fans didn't love him*:

within the first 48 hours of the club entering administration, a total of 68 interested parties lodged an expression of interest with [the administrators]
of those 68 interested parties, a total of 25 have already returned signed NDAs to the club - in doing so disclosing their identities - and have therefore been granted access to the club’s data room
[the administrators] are understood to be requiring proof of funds of at least £50m in their opening process to weed out time-wasters. The Star is told that two separate parties have already delivered on this proof of funds

Absolutely absurd stuff.

Hopefully with the lead admin being a Wednesdayite he'll make sure we don't just get the money (like Mandaric got from Kim) and avoid another psychopath.

Another fun story doing the rounds is that he just ignored all the local MPs and politicians but when HMRC were starting to threaten a winding-up order over the outstanding £1m called the Mayor of South Yorkshire to ask him to get them off his back.

*Which was also his transfer strategy: if you want out, you're staying here until the end of your contract. He's a proper "if I can't have you, no-one can" guy.

Three parties have now sent proof of funds, with the administrator saying he thinks it could be four or five by the end of the 28 days...

If you've got £50m @Famine then @Jordan has been paying you too much ;)

More seriously, it sounds like the Administrator is on the ball 👍 (pun definitely intended).

No surprise he has gone, only two points from ten in the league. He did sign a three-year contract in September which now looks stupid.

Wigfield revealed that the club had been run on such a shoestring under Chansiri. He said that after supporters flooded back after a boycott, by January the administrators could be running the club at a profit of around £1m.

Yeesh. American sports teams are infamous for having skinflint owners who don't invest properly in their clubs, but this is a whole other level. I've never heard of a professional sports team needing its fans to start a GoFundMe just to make payroll.
