Indy NXT was mostly uneventful. Hard to say if Hallie Deegan is getting a massive pass due to her "clout" or because it's a new series for her. She was nearly lapped and her fastest time was about 2 seconds slower than the next slowest car.

Thermal seems like a really cool track to hot lap a sports car around, but good lord is it awful as a race track. I know options are limited due to weather and NASCAR but there has to be better options for early spring races.

If Bruton was still around I think there's a decent chance it would happen. Under Marcus though SMI might as well be a NASCAR subsidiary and thus would likely be difficult to work with (aka require a dump truck full of money).

The spring schedule is **** and is one of the main reasons why I'm getting more and more disinterested in this series ever year.

Next year should be better, St.Pete 3-8 with GP Arlington 3-15, Sebring is the next week so no race then maybe Thermal 3-19 or someplace else. Easter is 4-5 and Long Beach is 4-19 so there is a gap. The Masters is set for 4-12 so they wont to go up against that TV number again after last weeks ratings beat down.

Alex Palou has now won 4 of the first 5 races this year. It's actually insane how strong he is. I don't think there's any argument that he's currently the best driver in Indycar.

I'm pulling for either O'Ward or Larson to win the Indy 500, but I cannot imagine the scenes if Palou wins that one, too. It's pretty much the only major achievement that he's yet to earn.

People are complaining about how predictable this season is with Palou winning so often and are comparing it to Red Bull's domination of F1, but there's a big difference here to consider - aside from the engine and a small amount of suspension work, everyone drives the same car so the fact that he can extract such performances out of himself rather than being handed the wins makes it more impressive and less of a cakewalk than Max's previous few seasons.

Alex has deserved his wins and current championship performance, and I say fair play to him - it's down to the rest to bring their game up.

Abel got knocked out by his teammate.

For the fast 6, a rookie is guaranteed to start on the front row.

And he's going to break a 43 year drought to become the first rookie to win the pole for the Indy 500! Prema Racing's Robert Shwartzman is on the pole.

First time at the speedway for both driver and team, and they put it on top. Unbelievable!

Love to see that, despite taking it from my man Sato. Incredibly impressive, congrats to Shwartzman and Prema.
