I really can't see any positive from this. Besides the obvious political issues the last thing IndyCar needs is another race that has no chance of staying on the calendar long term, especially a street course. Than there is the fact you just know they were the 3rd choice behind F1 and NASCAR.

It really is annoying how any time American open wheel racing starts getting some momentum whatever series it may be manages to shoot themselves in the foot, even F1 doesn't seem immune to this.

On the one hand, I get wanting to take advantage of the obvious symbolism and doing a one-off race for it was likely going to happen regardless. But there's no way it's not going to be turned into a self-indulgent propaganda piece for you-know-who, and the symbolism that it's meant to celebrate is going to be completely forgotten about.

I wouldn't be surprised if there were at least a couple drivers who end up boycotting it, and I don't blame anyone who does choose to.

I can't wait for Crashgate 2: Ferrucci Boogaloo Boy.

I don't think we will see anyone boycott (or even speak out sadly), however I wouldn't be surprised if some decided to seek opportunities outside the series (and country) next year.

This whole thing is very odd but sadly not surprising (considering who owns the series) move for a series that has always used it's international driver lineup as a selling point.

Not really an Indy Car fan, haven't watched a race in decades. But the upcoming test here in Phoenix is open to the public with free entry. Might just take the day off and swing by...
