Shall we set up a 2026 World Endurance Championship thread?

New for 2026,
Genesis has joined the Hypercar ranks with it's LMDH based GMR-001-Hypercar
Porsche Penske Motorsport and decided not to continue with a WEC effort, mainly focusing on IMSA, Formula E and other commitments. This also effecting Proton Competition

In Hypercar Toyota, Cadillac, BMW and Alpine are bringing EVO jokers
In LMGT3 Ferrari, Ford and Porsche all bring Evo kits to their GT3 based cars.

It‘s understandable but still really unfortunate to see Porsche being absent from this year‘s season. 😔

On the other hand, I‘m looking forward to seeing how well Genesis are going to do, especially considering their stacked driver lineup (André Lotterer, Pipo Derani and Mathieu Jaminet among others).

Following.

Will the season be available for streaming the USA ?

Taking from this 2025 article you may be able to stream through the following.

USA

Max: Live digital streaming of FP3, qualifying and full race
MotorTrend: Full live race broadcast from 13:00 local time (CDT)
FIA WEC TV: Comprehensive streaming package (check local availability)

You may want to double check this website whether this is still the same for 2026

Fiawec.tv

Before subscribing anywhere make sure that the races you want to see are included (I think last year Le Mans for example was geoblocked in some countries)

Cool. thanks for the information. IIRC, I watched LeMans on the Motor Trend TV network here in the states.

More 2027 news than 2026

V8 power so the car should sound good.

Logan and Seb will drive Proton Mustangs in WEC GT3 this year.

If anyone has doubts about the Sargeant pick, he has been mighty fast in LMP2 machinery and I think that's why Ford picked him up. Hopefully he has a long successful sports car career

The news popped on a french paid media, it looks like Alpine's program could be on its last year.

On the other hand, Honda may be on its way for a come back.

If it was on French media I would have bet money on Peugeot being the story. Alpine at least has a win.

It's very likely that the ground effect cars were actually what killed his F1 career. We will never know for sure, guy wasn't that hot in his feeder series days, but wasn't that bad also.

Sad news considering they were showing really good progress last season, especially towards the end.

I‘m a bit out of the loop but are Honda planning to develop a new car for WEC or are they just going to use the Acura GTP car with a Honda badge?

I find it kinda ironic that group c & lmp1 died because they got to expensive and now the car manufacturers go to the most expensive form of motorsport ._.
On the other hand, it was the F1 budget cap that allowed Ferrari to invest in hypercar going for top level sports cars racing after half a century.

how lucky we are they didn't commit to the Indycar nonsense instead

Sargeant was fired way too soon. He never really got a decent shot at F1. He got sacked for someone who was already showing poor performance in the prior season. For Logan, I hope he's got a succesful career in endurance racing ahead of him.
