I really don't think it will be that bad. I was just thinking that, if all the Group C cars will be equalized, the Toyota (obviously the fastest car on the Group C/LMP list) will probably be penalized more than the others, because it is so quick. The extra penalties might discourage someone from using that car, or would bring it back down to a performance level closer to a LMP. I don't mean to speak for either The359 or Earth, and please correct me if I'm wrong on this.

But honestly, I'm not overly concerned about it. I'll worry about my competitiveness come June. Right now, I just want to see as many people as possible get in on this.

On the debate topic of the GT ONE, I think it could be very competitive over a 24 Hour period. If it is in fact true that it has less frequent pit-stops versus the minute difference in lap times, I think it could be competitive. The GT ONE though running a thinner tire, I'd imagine would in fact be quicker in a straight line, except for the Bentley Speed 8 (they're both closed top cars.) As I recall, it was forced to run a thinner tire than the open tops in the '99 Le Mans (which it WON against the likes of Audi's [weaker than R8 and 10] R8R and BMW's V12 LMR) to make up for its massive aero advantage.

I'd like to compete in the series as well... BMW V12 LMR.

Glad to see someone else interested in this. Good to have you on board! 👍 (not to mention someone running the same car I plan to race...)

The BMW won Le Mans in 1999, though the Toyota was a close second (just over a lap down).

As for the competitiveness of the Toyota vs. the other LMP/GTP cars, I'll leave that discussion up to the guys creating the rules for the race. I think they have adjusted the weights of the cars so they will be somewhat equal in performance, so you'll have a shot no matter which car you choose to run.

From my discussions with them, it seems like everything is coming together quite nicely. I'm really excited about this event.

This sounds cool and definately worth doing. Ill be using a new M3 GTR Racecar with a oil change. Maybe Ill try this full a spec with a friend

Well Mr. m.piedgros and omelettes, this is the thread for last year's 24hrs. The new one, which will be a joint effort between GTP and GTX, will be posted May 15, 2006. It will include all the rules, cars available, weight specs, everything. For now I suggest running in Mulsanne's 1000km race which will lead directly into the 24hrs of Le Mans GTP+GTX

As for the GT1 compared to the open cockpit cars, the Toyota GT1 is MUCH faster down the Mulsanne then the Open cockpit prototypes in GT4. My C60 is around 220-222mph on the first long straight, while the Toyota GT1 I tested easily hits 231-233mph, 10+mph a faster. Also it can run 9 laps per fuel load, while every other LMP car except for the Speed8 (9 laps per fuel also) can only run 8 laps. This will make for interesting strategy.
