240SX Performance Question?

No......because the shorter gears and the torque in the engine provide for slower 1/4 times....A well built (not modified....assembled correctly.)
is good for low 14's or high 13's easily.......Which is quicker than ANY damn stock 240 in the history of 240s

oh man.. i dont know how i can put this into words

what i meant by fwd doesnt turn is not like its going straight even when you turn

it is obvious that rwd will turn better than fwd
I like oversteer better than understeer and i bet most will do to

i dont know what to say anymore
what im saying is that 240sx handles better than my integra and this is based on my experience on the field

i know stock 240sx will be smoked by an ls/vtec honda.. no questions.
it is obvious that hondas are slightly lighter and ls/vtec makes more HP than KA

i know in road racing HP > torque
but you have to know that chassis and suspension play the most important role

i still have to say that the best fwd car handling-wise is still dominated by honda (integra type-r and civic type-r)...

but with the same HP, rwd handles better

im not ditching the fwd.. hell i drove an integra.. im just stating a fact.

i would love to bring you to an autocross we're having this weekend and have you drive both my car and my friend's honda so you can compare how they handle, but i dont know where you live... so oh well

and heres a video for those who havent watch it

touge battle

AE86 vs R43 GTR
Integra Type R vs S14 silvia <--- see this race, fwd vs rwd
MR-S vs S15 silvia <-- shows that balance owns

I've seen that race, because it's a couple of months old..the MRS w/ celica engine wins the AE86 wins but it's a joke in the begining...and the silvia wins because it's tuned a bit more than the teg..

The SR on that silvia is pretty much stock.. T28 with upped boost ,plus its a heavier, and remember.. turbo needs to spool.. but in this case T28 spools rather quick
while the ITR, understeered trying to catch up. i wonder why it understeered... hmmmmm

both ran the same exact time at the track... but when it comes to a more technical course such as touge.. its a different story
im just trying to prove my point based on first hand experience..
well if you think that my experience is bull**** , i have no problem at all, just ignore me then. but sooner or later, you'll realize it too ;)

hey its all good, just give you're opinion, if its wrong then someone will prove it wrong, if its right, then its right, its better then nothing and you learn from you're mistake, keep up the 240sx talk, still wanna know more!!!

good thinking :)
but hey, its stuff like these that will help us learn and do more research ;)

yup, if anyone knows anything, just tell me, humm one questions, what seem to be the most problems that mess up a lot in the KA24 motor and SR20DET? anyone knows, giev a thought or opinion please, thanks!!

I'd probably say premature clutch wear...my friend seems to have to change his KA24 clutch damn often...I don't know if it's just his problem or a massive prob, cause he's a pretty good driver......As for SR20DET...I dunno of any really.....maybe valve floating with the rev limiter gone, but that can be said for most cars.

I've heard from ALOT of people that the Sr20DET with the S15....IE the 6 speed transmission is prone to having problems...the 5 speeds I've yet to hear any major problems...But usually the people I see with them use aftermarket transmissions or gears.....But yes....I'm pretty confident about the 6 speed having problems...not the 5 though

ohh i dont need no 6 speed gear, because i heard its more slow, but is it slow? but its going to cost a lot, how much is the aftermarket SR20DET tranny for the S13?

.......Hell if I know.....I'll look and ask around...i'll ask around tommarow and i'll look around tonight....But I do know that there's a company called Precision Automation and Robotics (PAR) that makes some pretty bad ass gear sets that Turbo magazine used in their project SE-R....and apparently you get some bad ass shifts out of it....but lemme check the cost of a Stock one Vs this one I know of..

I been searching for the cheapest S13 front conversion and i cant find it less then $900 bucks, does anyone know a place for the cheapest S13 front, i really need to know, or who is selling it in California. When i get my financial aide money from school, that should cover the whole S13 front on my 240sx coupe.

Hi Night_Drifter.

I have a 97' turbo KA, I am running 13.5's at 103 mph on stock engine as my everyday driver. As far as KA's being slow, search for Mike lee's car at http://forums.freshalloy.com his car has over 500 rwhp, this is by far the best 240sx forum out there I have been a member for 4 years or so. When sport compact car and super street (aka super ****) wrote their 1st 240sx article they came to us for information.

Just be sure to search the forum before asking questions as much has already been talked about, and they can be tough on newbs.

As this topic has been freshly resurected id just like to say what a load of **** most of this has been! Bbandit was the only one in my opinion that actualy raised any worthwhile points.

I drive a silvia(240sx) and although its a CA through my club and helping out mates i have gained quite a bit of knowledge on the SR20 aswell. Try to get an S15 engine as it comes with a very nice turbo and the 6 speed Box. Also the Kilometers will be lower and the potential thrashage is less.

IT IS NOT GOOD FOR 500HP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes it can be with full trust/HKS internals but stock as a rock you will find that you will be putting pistons out the block. I knwo this because i have 2 friends with 500hp+ SR20s. I have about 10 friends in the 300hp+ bracket and i have about 20 friends in the stock to 300hp bracket.

Ditch the KA engine, whilst being good its not great and the tuning potential is slightly less than the SR.

RBs are awesome but if your going to do it go hardcore and get a 26. FYI for the person who posted "go an RB25DET out of an R32 or R33" The R32 came with the RB20det and the RB25de(very very late model) The R33 came with the normal RB25 and the R34 Gt-t came with the RB25 NEO engine.

Also the 6 Speed gearbox is a ****load faster than the 5 speed and there are no common problems with this gearbox.

Isnt mike Lee the owner of the Black S14K that has the R33 style bumper on it? i heard he crashed it and its no longer running.

very interesting story, damn if i dont have money then i have to go with the KA motor, if i do, then the SR20DET would be nice, but i like to go for drag racing though, im not going to drift, because i dont want my bumper to go off or damage my car.
