Does it ever get dark as in real life as I have never seen it happen if so can anyone tell me how many hours it is when it happens. Thank you if advance.

The only thing special to endurance races that I've seen, is the red white and blue smoke trail from a plane or planes (can't tell) at the beginning of the Le Mans 24h race. Maybe GT5?

Planes, the Red Arrows I think.

The Red Arrows???

I would have thought the French National aerobatic team were more likely to be seen at Le Mans, surely. Can't remember what they are called, because it's French and I can't speak French, but last time I saw them they were flying Alpha Jets which look a little bit like BAe Hawks from a distance but have two engines. That was years ago though.

I thought it was the red arrows because I went to an airshow last year, and the same blue, white and red smoke was launched from them, and they look pretty similair too.

Uhhhh yeah I think both teams do have the same smoke colours, because they both have the same three flag colours. I think the French team does a 7 plane formation, which is close to the Red Arrows' 9.

I did some checking. The French lot are called the Patrouille de France. Here's a link:

It seems they still fly Alpha Jets, which do look similar to the BAe Hawk that the Red Arrows fly. I also noticed on this page that they are painted red on the bottom, with white lightning stripes (GT stripes? - jokes) which would make them look even more similar. The easiest ways to tell them apart are the aforementioned two tailpipes, and the Alphajet has a high wing, though that would only really be noticeable from front or rear view. And it will be even harder to tell the difference on computer game resolution.

But I'm just guessing it's the French hotshots because it's Le Mans. I'll have a look this weekend and put my money where my big mouth is.

I would love that to happen on the 24 hr races only. Would love to have to buy cars with lights on. Maybe even have some night rally races as well.

Yeah, GT5 would be fenominal if they had in car views with twitching steering wheel, windshield wipers, etc. Especially if the model specific instrumentation is functional and easy to read.
