It appears I over estimated the soft to hard lap conversion. Previously I had been told hards last twice as long as softs but that does not appear to be true. Tonight I joined a Nascar room running 31 laps on hards. Only 2 of us made the distance, I finished 8 seconds ahead of second, and I believe 13 seconds ahead of the charging pack of pitters. It's slightly slanted as the pitters knew from lap 1 what I was doing, so a group lined up, pit together and drafted hard to try and catch me. So while 40 is obtainable I'd say that on average 33 and below is the window of success. A good group will make 32 questionable. Average rooms you might sneak a 34 lap run in before they catch you. Other than that, it's faster to pit. Unless... Hard tires are mandated. In this race after your pit you could use any tire. So the majority did 20 on hards 11 on softs. In which case running on hards even further handicapped me. Like I said, I don't promote these strategies, I prefer to run balls to the wall from green to checkered.
