wow a true sleeper mercedes, never heard of it before.

PS - like the volvo you're selling, I remember thinking they were all boring as a kid until my dad told me about the T5 versions and showed me them racing in BTCC

I must say, I've gained a huge amount of respect for you, M5Power, for the "go over show" viewpoint.

Other options, if you really want to have fun, get an old car and trick it out.

Myself, I've long fancied the idea of finding some way to cram a BMW 3.4 I-6 (like the one in my 88 535i) into an E30, Coupe or Sedan, probably Sedan.

$30,000 can buy a decent new car, and wind up throwing a lot of money away on the drive off depreciation, it can buy a great depreciated car, or it can buy a lot of old car.

Also, kudos on the old NSX suggestion, those are very nice for the money, and hold value like they're plated in gold.

Any Mercedes will cost a lot to own and even more to tune- this is why I ditched them for my Z. Plus the automatic just doesn't cut it. Also a total piece from a driver's perspective.

The G35 is a great car but the rear seats are tiny, you might as well go for a 350Z.

The 350Z... it's heavy, doesn't really feel fast (weird), the brakes suck, and so does the interior. Despite all that it's a great car, especially to drive. The shifter is lovely, once you get used to it (it can be vague in the sense I sometimes wonder what gear I just put the car in with the only way to find out releasing the clutch) and the steering is GREAT. It's fairly heavy, but it makes driving fantastic.

The GTO is a great car. If you don't mind the heft, go for it! The V8 soundtrack is to die for, especially if you can go for an LS2 model.

The R32 is a great car too, if you can get used to the looks. Rear seats are very, very, very small.

If you can afford it, go for an Audi S4. If something goes wrong, it'll cost ya, but if it doesn't, you have a fantastic car. Very quick, easy to tune (if you get the TTV6) and a great interior.

Onikaze
I must say, I've gained a huge amount of respect for you, M5Power, for the "go over show" viewpoint.

My own car is a ten-year-old Volvo sedan that looks like your average three-box '90s sedan, except that it can do 0-60 in 7.1 seconds, due to its somewhat brutal 222-horsepower 2.3-liter five-cylinder turbo. It's a bit of go and absolutely no show. People underestimating the car has allowed wins in about 90% of my street races, including one last night against a teenager in a riced-out Civic hatch. As I described it this morning:

I raced a ricer Civic last night. It went well. As I began pulling away from him coming off the light, I started screaming "I'M NOT SHIFTING, I'M NOT SHIFTING" out my window. I then held both hands up to signify that I was, in fact, not shifting. As if that wasn't enough, after I was ahead by about two car lengths, I stuck my hand out the sunroof and pretended to shift, further solidifying the point that he was getting beaten by an automatic. He already KNEW he was getting beaten by a Volvo, but the automatic thing just drove the point home.

Sleepers are the best, period.
