GT Sport's Livery Editor is "Far More In-Depth" Than Expected

Livery editor is serious business now isn't it? It is used to be just a simple vinyl stripes and pattern, now you can recreate almost every livery ever made (or making new ones) with lots and lots of layers. Having this in GTS is nice addition (especially if it allowed the player to go for full and depth customization). Can't wait to see people creations of their remake or own made custom liveries.

Sounds good, but as a Forza painter I doubt I'd invest much time into it.

I am sure it will function well but I'd rather not create a new database of elements from scratch after spending hundreds of hours in Forza games creating logos already.

It's a nice feature to have but the main appeal of this game for me is Sport Mode, which is already looking strong enough for me to consider buying.

This feature could be kind of neat for sport mode. As of now everyone with the same car runs the same livery, but if you can use custom liveries in sport mode no two races would look the same. It is true that the livery editor could be a bit silly if everyone on the grid has wacky liveries, but maybe adding an option which disables showing opponents liveries would be a worthwhile addition to give people the choice. Running around a course with custom gt3 liveries does seem entertaining and would enhance the replay feature for online races tremendously :)👍

If this is true, then I can't wait to make my cars sponsored by Colonel Kababz.

I'm really intrigued in how they have implemented this feature. When I used to paint on Forza muscle memory had me throwing up designs in no time.

Great news.

I hope they utilise the touch pad for this like Tearaway did. Only, you know, better; although it could have been my complete lack of artistic talent that made those stickers look rubbish.

I hope this is very good. The only liverly editors I've done on a game was TDU2 and Test Drive: Eve of destruction. They had some flaws but pretty good, I think. I also really hope that GTs is better, I always like using liverlies on my cars, but there is always so many choices.

If this lets us use images and skins created on pc and then import images via usb to the game (like PES), we will be on to a winner in this area. A very under used and overlooked feature for the PS4, unfortunately.
I also think that I personally wouldn't like this. There would be a lot of explicit liverlies

I couldn't possibly care any less about it. Not a feature I would touch, I'd rather see them working on the sound and driving feel you know the important stuff

hmmm let me see, maybe in 1 to 2 years after Sport is released we will finally see a stripped down version of the livery editor. How much better would GT6 have been if many of the additional content was there to start from? It actually might of put GT6 in as a contender for the best GT to date?

Turn 10 and Microsoft have done a good job over the years from keeping offensive material appearing on cars in the Forza series. And their livery editor has taken on a gargantuan life of it's own to rival their online racing community. If PD are to bring a long overdue feature then at the very least expect them to be able to match what other companies having been doing for years? I don't think that is an unreasonable request? No matter how the image has been generated.

Yeah, I feel you. Because the people out in the field recording sounds, and the physics engineers handling complex vehicle, tire, wind resistance, and physics calculations are most certainly and without a doubt the same people required for handling an in-game graphical user interface.

There's absolutely no way that a professional studio like PD would allocate specialist in their fields to handle it. Kaz would most certainly pull people needlessly from other projects that have zero aspects in common with the field with which they specialize in, to work on completely unrelated features that they likely have zero clues about... Yeah, it would definitely delay handling and sounds... No question... Without a doubt...

Thanks for the update. I'm not really familiar with how forza manages stuff. I've never played any forza game. And same with you to @RACECAR

I enjoy painting in Forza- grabbing a RL car design and slowly adding layers over many months. Kind of reminds me of my house building in Skyrim. Lol.

As long as the interface is nice and easy to use and the camera swing allows you to see and zoom, it should be fun.

This hasn't been a concern for quite some time (Years frankly). Those days are far long past as it was simply a fad likely just for the sake of attention seeking. I guarantee you're far more likely to get some meme'd out liveries then anything else (as I've already seen plenty of times )

If it's anything like the interface in Need For Speed, I will be using this feature for hours.

I know the course creator in GT6 isn't a great example of any kind but how amazing would it be if GT Sport allowed you to control the livery editor from your smart device. Connect to the game with your iPad and boom, more control options than ever instead of using the DS4.

Make it an option rather than a mandatory inclusion like course creator and PD would be onto a winner. The ability to import Photoshop files would be amazing too for people who create liveries on PC.
