Send a friend request to grenadeshark as well since he will be hosting tonight.

What theme do you guys want? Options include...

* Roadsters (rag tops only)
* FF 2-door hot hatchbacks
* Seattle night (rainy tracks on rain tires -- 4wd cars will likely dominate)
* Offroad night (run some of the dirt and snow tracks -- 4wd required)

Thanks. I will send a friend request.

I already voiced my desire to have a headset. But unfortunately it's not on the priority list. LOL. (Though I suspect the bf's just skeptical about me using a headset. And I suppose I would be too if he was playing online games with a bunch of women.)

The plus side - I never have much to say anyway. I can hear people just fine.

Welcome watermelon, You are welcome to join us some night to see what it is like. We try our best to race clean without contact. The A.I. drivers in A-spec mode are very difficult to follow so using them as a reference point for your own driving isn't very accurate.

The important thing is that you a) are familiar with most tracks in the game and b) can jump in a car and find your way around the track, make a few tunes, then be ready to race. Read the GTP_OLR which is linked in the first post. It covers the basics on how to behave on the track.

I also suggest getting a bluetooth headset. It will add so much more enjoyment to the game if you are able to chat while driving.

Anyway, send me a friend invite so you can find the room.

We're almost able to run two rooms concurrently with 10 drivers+ ini each. We have full rooms the first couple races and wonder how many folks are just watching the community tabs waiting for spots to open. Perhaps we could get everyone on multiple folks lists and start moving these back to GTP only folks. (we're better anyway )

will do! thanks and looking forward to put my skills to the test. Need to set up some cars though, as you guys are running themes. :)

So chuyler, what is it? It's about time for me to start designing my car for tonight. I need a theme!

Mini Cooper
Peugeot 106/206/207
Fiat 500 / Punto
Renault Megane
Vauxhall Corsa Comfort
Alfa Romeo 147

Next week we'll do a rally night. Plan for it to be Monday or Tuesday. I need a little time to set up a car before we do that though. I just want to jump in when I get home tonight. I just hope everyone doesn't all pick the same car (ahhhem Ford RS200).

Sounds good! I've got a FF hot hatch set up really well already so this works out nicely.

I'm thinking I'm gonna run RWD for rally night...

We can't do 4 door hatches that aren't station wagons? My mazda 323f for example? Golf 4 door?

I don't know, I think if you open up 4-doors, it will include larger heavier cars with more power...but since you are running the room tonight I'll let you decide. However FF is a must to keep things on an even keel.

The Renault Megane has 4 doors also btw

I'd like to keep it strictly in the hot hatch area. I dont think I'd call a 323F a hot hatch.

When are you guys doing this? And whay time zone are you in? Ive got a 207 I'm dying to try out online...

Nevermind, shouldve read the OP. Me and my 207 will look for you this week. Btw, possible noob question here. Does boost off mean no turbos?

Nevermind again just answered my own question about boost.

Tonight 8:30 central time. FF 2 door only as Chuyler stated. Ill post up room number if I decide to do a public lobby. otherwise, send me a friend request.

the Golf's were being pretty bumpy (the yellow R32 especially) and I got tapped a few time trying to make clean pass attempts.

Have you driven a golf? I'll take a Lupo, thank you. I bought a Golf (like the yellow one in the picture), and heavens, my Nissan Be-1 can make turns much faster than that thing. I was really disappointed with it.
I wound up doing the expert aspec german thing with an upgraded regular lupo. Much nicer.

The golfs had to be majorly upgraded to get near 450pp... and as I understand it, the more hp on a golf, the worse the handling.

I've never driven an M3... but I'd bet anything they have to be TONS easier to drive. No offense to you of course. I'm just pointing out that whoever those golf drivers were, if they were even the least bit competitive against any other car at 450pp, I'm impressed. Heck, if they stayed on the pavement more than the grass, I'm impressed. LOL. I had to drive like a grandma to keep the golf on the track w/ racing tires on!

I've seen in the pub lobby races sometimes golf one-make races. Obviously there's some enthusiasts. But I think I'd be likely to only take my Golf into a one-make race, and definitely not on comfort tires! haha

LOL I guess I'm a n00b too... I've been wondering what "boost off/boost on" means. I think I looked for it in the "manual" button, but couldn't find anything. (That "manual" button is for the birds!)
I was wondering if it was some method of "leveling the playing field"... Like somehow nerfing better cars, or somehow helping lower ones. But I have no clue.

Boost just artifically speeds up the cars in the back. It's got nothing to do with the mechanical setup of the car.

I'm tempted to run a Golf IV now...sounds like a challenge! lol

Have you driven a golf?
Yes. I suppose you missed the part where I mentioned that I won a race with an undertuned R32. ;)

They are quite easy to handle at the limit, being 4WD and all. However, the guy driving the yellow one was pretty sloppy. Now the guy in the Mk V, I'm unsure. I'm not a big fan of FF cars either as I find them hard to handle like you described, but he seemed to drive pretty clean when he wanted to and was bumping by choice when he didn't want to let anyone by.

I also like the Lupos... the cup car race around the Ring was one of the more fun A-Spec races to me. 👍

Server up. Going to be private for now. Send me friend request to join. Go to my community tab, then agrenadeshark, then click on the yellow circle in top right of coffee cup (lounge).

Yes, I actually did miss that part, honestly. I'm confused, I thought you said you were in an M3 for some reason, but I'm not feeling up to going back & re-reading to see where things got confused. Apologize if you were offended, as I said, that wasn't my point anyway. (Mainly my point was to take the opportunity to complain & whine about my disappointment with the Golf I bought. LOL)

And I just get a little touchy about people assuming that someone's driving "unclean" on purpose. Though I agree, I've seen it, and some people do, sometimes.

I just know that there's probably been times some lotus or bmw driving person in an online game may have thought I was a really bad driver, or worse, a bunter, when you know , the rest of us were in cheap FF cars while they were in a high performance car using the power limiter at 50%, and modulating the throttle leisurely around turns, while the rest of us were having to brake at turns because we actually had to TRY to compete in the race.

I don't get the sense that everyone knows, and this is NOT aimed at anyone HERE, or anyone in particular... that a car that's base is 450pp, that's tuned up to say 500pp, then power limited back down to 450pp, is going to, hands down, outperform a 400pp car tuned up to 450pp, and sometimes even someone driving fast from sloppy corner to sloppy corner, wiping out at every tricky turn, can still easily beat someone driving really clean in a lower performance car, despite the pp limit on the race.

I know this because I've been in races with a 450pp limit, where I was driving fairly clean in a cheap road car - you know, like one that's designed as a commuter car, & kept catching up to a high performance car every time he wiped out at a turn, I would pass, then he'd pass me again, and then I'd catch up to him again when he wiped out again, have to carry on my way, then he'd yet again pass me. And I would NOT be surprised if from that guy's point of view, I was "in his way" every time he had to pass me again. LOL. I'm sure if you'd ask him, he'd probably say something like "there was this n00b slow bad driver I had to pass again and again". haha. I could totally see it. Not even considering that he had to pass me multiple times & why. I could tell by the way he'd pass me every time that he was angry. (You don't need a headset to pick up on these things, nor express them.)

And penalties wouldn't have helped in a situation like this either, it would just make things worse when the guy booted me off the track like a football. The penalty hurts the least performing cars the most. I've noticed that high performance cars can get out of the sand or off the grass WAY easier, and they can accellerate much faster from a spin out/spin off.

I don't think all FF cars are terrible. I think the Lupo is an FF? and I find it very nice. (And yes, I just wish I'd done the lupo race in aspec the first time with a REGULAR lupo - I used a gti cup car and it was too easy - I do like taking road cars on the nurburg track a lot - I think there should've been more nurburg in aspec - seems like it's all just daytona & indy).

The golf though, like the yellow one in the picture, is what I tried. And it wouldn't turn for anything. It won't turn when you're accellerating or braking, and it won't turn when you're not doing those things either! My lupo isn't that disagreeable.

couldnt make it tonight as i just sent my friend request to Chuyler1 and GrenadeShark just now. :)

Will be busy tuning some cars to meet the 450pp requirement and have myself something to drive for any theme that may arise.

although for FF i should be driving this baby:

Sorry Sl3ightaru about the Eiger race. I gave Nic a draft boost and we both kinda ganged up on you in the last turn. I tapped you from the side and Nic may have bumped you from behind. I slowed up to let you back by but Nic didn't...so I dragged him to the finish. I wasn't actually trying to get by you...I was trying to just get by Nic. Great racing though. Only reason I caught up was because you two were battling it out. I didn't have as much speed on the uphill as you two due to gearing. Video uploading now. That's the first time I've actually had fun on that track. I usually end up in a car that simply won't turn on those switchbacks.
