4X4s in GT4

Hey guys ive just been playing a demo of 4x4 Evo on the PC and ive had an idea...4x4s in gt4!! pd could create special dirt and mud tracks for them and there would be cars like:

Toyota Tacoma
Nissan Pathfinder
Nissan X-Trail
Suzuki Grand Vitara

what do you guys think??:confused:
 
The grand Vitara has been tested and not the pikes peak Escudo a proper Grand Vitara, also PD have tested a Jeep Cherokee and a Range Rover Vouge.
 
Don't you just love high cornering speeds?

One programme I saw did a motorway swerve test - simulating what would happen if you had to swerve round a stationary object at motorway speeds. The microscopic hatchback did it perfectly. The Range Rover flipped - at only 50mph...

Keep 4x4s/SUVs OUT of Gran Turismo. Keep bikes out of Gran Turismo. They are not Gran Tourers.

(and to address follow-up points, no I don't think F1s should be in GT either. Rally cars are fine, as they are based on cars which could conceivably be badged "GT" and LMP cars and suchlike used to be known as "GT class", so they're fine).
 
The 4x4 may appear as a sub series for the rally races, 4x4's are based on cars supercars are based on F1 (most recent ones anyway) and they are in GT, bikes are not like cars in anyway other than they have an engine and move fast in the same way you could say some boats have an engine and move fast. GT for me wil always be expanding it's content and adding more varieties of motorsport, as long as it's cars not bikes there is a chance it will be in a future GT game. As for weather or not I prefer them in thee game or not, I have nothing against PD including F1 cars as long as you can't use them in none F1 races.
 
Nonetheless, people keep on saying "PD shud includ bikes ther l337!"

I hope the closest they get is the Tiger T100 - a Lotus Seven derivative with a pair of 1.3i bike engines... Good for a 2.8s 0-60mph :D
 
The sad news that I have seen is in the GT4 video. It appeared to me that the PD Crew were photographing and measurin what appeared to be a Ford Explorer.

I'd really hate to see "The grocery getter" race Series or the "Haul the Kids to the Playground" race series.

ah well it was an idea. hey how about a dodge dakota rally car. theres 1 on 4x4 evo. it looks kool.its white with dodge down the side.

Yes - and before anyone accuses me of hating 4x4s, I really, really liked driving the Ford Explorer (real life). But there is no way in hell I'd take it to Laguna Seca for a quick spin. Or any other race track. Or even drive it fast around a roundabout.
 
Well I dunno flipping over Range Rovers could be fun ;)
 
If GT keeps 'expanding' and including more forms of motorsports I don't think I would keep playing it. I don't really like the rally races in GT3. If I wanted to drive rally, I'd go buy a rally racing game. If I wanted to drive 4X4's I'd go buy that game. If I wanted to drive Monster trucks or motor bikes... you see where I'm going with this, I hope. Keep Gran Turismo gran turismo and I'm a happy paying customer.

Hate to say it - I have seen a film of GT4 with (sigh) a race of large US pick-up trucks.
 
I like it because it makes the game more diverse and keeps the replay value high. Sure it dons the "Gran Turismo" name, but whatever new stuff they throw in there, we all know we'll try it out. And believe me, if I'm driving an SUV in Gran Turismo, the first thing I'm attempting is a rollover (though I HIGHLY doubt it will happen).

what is up with all this anti this car that car attitude? i mean any car is a driving machine, gran turismo = driving simulator, sure they aint no use but its a game, games are to have fun, to make a game fun you got to have variety and includin different types of vehicles is definetely good for gt's novelty factor, if you dont like the car no one said you have to waste your credits on them in the game, one of the aspects that sets gran turismo apart from other games is the variety and wide range in vehicles it has, just let it be folks.

dont really look like large pickup trucks, looks like an SSR to me, the srceenshot's kinda bad

Yazza - I think the point is more that they put in "x" car, and took up space for "z" car (not Z-cars... That would be just weird). Sticking in 5-10 SUVs and pick-ups rather than 5-10 of the other cars from manufacturers they already have which people actively want is kind of annoying - like putting in 400 Lancers (and just HOW much of a waste of space was the TME Stripe? :D). Although I'm sure they won't fill the DVD - it's the perception.

Any car is a driving machine? I've never heard anyone refer to a Land Rover Defender that way before :D What will they put in next when they've run out of ideas for SUVs? Quad bikes? RVs? Imagine that - "Camping in Wye Valley Series"... :D
 
no offense famine, but the only way a ram would have fenders like that is if it was a dually, and by the way the front looks it just doesnt look like a dodge ram, even the taillights are just different, i just think its a SSR because they have those tonnuea cover thingies,

on the rv thing, it'd be kinda hard to take a winnebago through the corkscrew at lagauna, :eek:be fun to try though
 
Didn't see the front - 56k modem :D Plus we don't get (m)any pick-ups in the UK.

If you think that's fun, try getting a London Routemaster bus into the tunnels at Deep Forest...

It is an SSR, I've seen the whole video and it's a pack full of SSR's.
 
It's the SSR. Not a bad car/truck really. I bit to wieghty for my tastes in a performance machine, but I'm sure it will be fun to drive.

I think the reason Yamauchi-san is including trucks is so many people are buying SUVs and trucks. There is even truck NASCAR racing, and a lot of tuner SUVs and trucks, so why not include them in GT4?

I think it's just going to add to the gaming experience, so I like it. 👍

We Brits like our cars powerful and light (except for Aston Martin, where we like them to be made out of entire herds of cattle and two rainforests). Trucks just don't cut it.

the SSR i dont think is really a truck, its sorta like an el camino, elcaminos were just about as good as chevelles, el caminos are light in back my brothers together can lift the back end off the ground, the only bad thing is it's too light for the 400+ hp small block, its a blast to drive
 
Well you just have to face it like em or not if granturismo has trucks/suvs that wont stop me into buying the game because it is a new experience and heck iwould mind racing one around a track like have a special series of races for trucks or use a nice hooked up truck for rally racing i think its a pretty cool idea and i cant wait for it....

Completely irrelevant except for in one situation - racing. I'm probably the biggest advocate of SUVs in most situations, but in this case I'm baffled - why the hell would anybody want these things in the game? nitro_2003 suggests the Nissan X-Trail. The thing has a 140-horsepower 2.0L, and does 0-60 in 11.3 seconds.

I love SUVs - I love to argue about them, and though I don't own one, I'll defend them to the absolute death. But not in a realistic racing game - after all, if you had Gran Turismo money for track racing purposes, would you look at the Range Rover Vogue?
