Sports Trucks require massive amounts of horsepower to be even moderately quick. What is the point? Their only purpose is to look big and tough and make lots of noise while guzzling massive amounts of gas.

Take a look at the turbo charged 4's mpg then look at the na v8 trucks. Your also forgetting trucks are not cars. Trucks weigh more then cars. You need more power to move something that weighs 4k+ lbs  You need little power to move that light cracker of a car lotus Elise.

I'd have no problem with it if it werent for the gas mileage on those damn things. If you really need it a truck is great but those performance things are just stupid.

With big deplacement comes low mpg, common sense tells you to expect that. What makes performance cars so cool then? You dont need something like that.

It's my problem if we start running out of gas and end up with the kind of gas prices they have in Europe. I know it will happen eventually no matter what but id rather not have our gas sucked up by some stupid truck/SUV fad faster than it needs to be.

Stop being a worry bug and get over it.

The only reason I would ever get a truck would be so i could put a V10/12 in the back or W16. If I had to carry alot around i'd get a van, and if i had to pull alot i'd get a Land Rover.

I have seen racing trucks/pickups at my local track, and one of the main resons people will race them instead of cars is the amount of space on the side of the trucks for advertising, which makes them more financialy feasible.
