If you want to put it that way, then sedans are meant for hauling around families, they're usually big and heavy and aren't made to go fast...

Oh, wait, RS6, M5, S-Type R, E55.....

youre an idiot. why are u still even talking? Ford lightening has 390 hp. Chevy SS has 380 and the Ram Hemi has 345. not to mention the 500 hp ram. tell me those arent fast. theyre made to go fast. not haul. they have lighter body parts and lighter suspension and their drivetrain is made for high speeds. u wanna haul heavy stuff look for a Ford 350 or a Chevy 3500. ya the mini cooper is like a go cart. u want speed then get a real car.

All your listing is HP figures, there are plenty of supercars with that kind of HP that will blow those trucks away in any performace test. Bottom line is trucks take waaaay more HP to go fast than any sportscar AND they guzzle gas like crazy.
For example-
Your Ram SRT 10 does 0-60 in roughly 5.2 seconds with 500HP while a US Spec Lotus Elise(190 HP) does it in 4.9.
The regular Ram with the 5.7 Hemi does 0-60 in 6.8 seconds, an 02 Celica GTS(180 HP) does it in 6.6.
The 03' Silverado SS runs a 6.6 second 0-60 time as apposed to an 01' Honda S2000(240 HP) which does it in 5.5.

And a Bentley Arnage T can do 0 - 60 in 5.5 seconds...slower then a Ram SRT-10.

Are you attempting to say that an Arnage T is crap then?

Oh, wait, guess what, there's this thing called hp/weight ratio...

Not only are those trucks keeping up with the cars, but they would also tow them sideways.

What the hell is your problem?

An Arnage is a luxury car, not meant to go fast, your trucks are. That HP/Weight ratio is the reason the whole performance truck thing is stupid. The SRT 10 has 310 more horses than the elise and yet it gets hammered by it in every performance category thinkable. Sports cars go fast, trucks do not.

And an Elise weighs less then a stock Corvette too, and is faster around most tracks. So by your logic yet again, the Corvette is crap.

Performance trucks are made to perform well in a straight line and have decent handling capabilities around the twisties, and most of them handle that well, even with their restrictions.

And the Arnage T is meant to be very sporty and performance oriented. You've obviously never seen Clarkson flinging one sideways, have you?

The Lightning/SS/5.9RT/SRT-10 are not fast. If you think those trucks are fast, you've obviously never driven, or ridden in, a fast car. Sure, they each have a ton of torque, and can pull a house off its foundation, but they're not fast. Quick, yes. Fast, no.

For trucks, yes they are fast.

I don't think anyone here was expecting them to be greater then sportscars or anything...

So whats the point of making them fast when they have so many limitations.

What's the point of making the RS6 if it can't do things that supercars can?

Well when you fail to understand the point, questions like that are needed.

The simple fact is you're wrong. Sports trucks aren't attempting to beat supercars. Neither is the RS6. The RS6 is meant to be a fast car based off a family sedan, and it is just that. The Ram SRT-10 is meant to be a fast truck based off a work truck, and it is just that.

The Toyota Celica GT-S isnt a supercar, it's a low end four banger. The Honda S2000 and Lotus Elise are both sub 50 grand sports cars, also sporting 4s(the lotus uses the Celicas engine). Sports Trucks require massive amounts of horsepower to be even moderately quick. What is the point? Their only purpose is to look big and tough and make lots of noise while guzzling massive amounts of gas.

Seriously guy, just save your time and don't bother with this.

Some people get it, others don't.

So what? Some people enjoy that. Oddly, not everybody has your tastes.

I'd have no problem with it if it werent for the gas mileage on those damn things. If you really need it a truck is great but those performance things are just stupid.

Why do you care what sort of gas mileage someone else is getting? You aren't the one paying for the gas; it isn't your problem.

It's my problem if we start running out of gas and end up with the kind of gas prices they have in Europe. I know it will happen eventually no matter what but id rather not have our gas sucked up by some stupid truck/SUV fad faster than it needs to be.

And big heavy sports sedans require large amounts of horsepower to be moderatly quick...

And if you're worried about gas, then just drop driving a car altogether. :odd:

I wouldnt say that, sports sedans achieve extremely good performance. The Mercedes CL600 is quicker than a Ferrari 465.

Right - the 'we're running out of gas' argument. My fault, I thought you were actually seriously participating in a sensible discussion.
