What brand of 56k modem u got?

I got a US Robotics 56k Sportster Faxmodem with x2 that means I can connect at 115.2k sometimes, no joke :)

X2? So you've essentially got two connections on two different phone lines (like ISDN)?

I dunno what your talking about thats Greek to me, i just read my what my modem has printed on the top of it. I got 1 phone line thats all i know, jebus who do u think your talking to, a comp/electronic wizard? Well if u thought that than your chattin to the wrong guy :)

Well, if you connect at 115.2k, you have to have a little something extra...I'm going to research that modem a little.

You hush up MistaX and your 2mb/sec:mad::mad::P
X2 is the name U.S. Robotics used to describe 56k modem technology when it was first released.

i have a 300kb/s
Well then, you obviously don't have a 56k modem. ISDN or DSL, maybe?

No, I really don't see how that's possible for you, unless that is the speed of the connection between your modem and your computer. What are your typical download speeds (while downloading MP3's, etc.)?

Hmmm. It won't actually be connecting at that speed. Check your download rates - they should be in the region of 7 - 8K per second (as opposed to 60 - 110K on Cable)

SHUT UP MISTAX!! (j/k!)

56K is about the limit of an analogue connection, and is in fact achieved by directly connecting the servers to a digital exchange (there is no analogue at the server's upstream side). This is why you are on an asymmetric 56K/33.6K connection.

well sometimes the modem gets a good connection and doubles, downloading is usually around 45kbps, depends on how many things i have open. My friends dsl downloaded a song from Kazaa at 5.3mbps, i am not kidding, i dont lie about stuff.

mistax, shut the hell up. so what if youve got a good download speed, theres no need to shove it in peoples faces like that. people that skyte about 2.63mb/s download rates are like people that skyte about having big wangs, they usually have a pittiful wang.

/looks for a bull**** smiley

Dude, there's just no way a 56K modem will d/l at 45kbps. Even my 1.7 P4 dell laptop spikes at 19K and then drops like a stone. (At home...on the LAN at work it's T1 all the way)

And the modem I have in that one is a combo 10/100, 56K, and wireless.

Well not really, i was downloading a 2kb file and the download speed said 45kbps then droped down to 12. Usually was too big of a word cuz i dont really d/l stuff on my 56k i use my friends dsl.
