This is cool. I like any competition that involves more than a single lap. Though I might have chosen a different course (: Times tonight!

Don't be talkin' 'bout my second favorite ( CdlS II is #1) course like that LoudMusic!
Ran the Toyota GT One for the first time today. Faster than the Sauber, slower than the Peskies but by far the most fun race I've found yet. Nipped the leader at the final turn & won by less than 1 SECOND!

BTW: Drew a "Black" R92 as an adversary...anyone else seen one yet?...O.G. :D

GEEZER UPDATE:
Ran the big "Merc" first in today's session & was pleasantly surprised. Time was just slightly off the Sauber's pace. So I re-ran the Sauber to see if running a lot of laps lately would improve my time. I was 2 seconds SLOWER than the time posted above but found a FANTASTIC race where I was only able to win by 2.7xx Seconds. 👍 I'm of the opinion now that there are "Slow" & "Fast" "AI" combos. You'll find a MUCH BETTER Race w/the "Fast" Combo for sure! :scared:

Pleasant surprise: 👍
MERCEDES-BENZ AMG CLK-GTR Race Car '98 [800HP/900kg] 20'47.733

Well, that's why I used this car in GTWC some months ago :P Maybe I'll try this race as well, but I'm quite busy this week and I don't have much LMP's unlocked (only the CLK-GTR is permitted at the moment) :P I never tried the races where you could win LMP's, because I lost interest at that time.

After about 10 restarts I've had nearly identical opposition on each race. The only differences I see are when the car I chose used to be in the field. I've never had a race without the Sauber, r92cp, or minolta. Others I've seen are the Audi R8 and the Bentley.

Yep! 👍 I've seen the Nissan R89 the BMW & both Peskies as well but I've probably tried it with more different rides (6 to date) than you have. Notably "Absent" have been the GT-One, R390 & the Jag. ...O.G. :D

Driving the lovely Playstation Pescarlo Judd i managed 20'17.629 though it could have been a lot faster and the fact that i did the first stint on the same hard tires as the AI... still managed to win... best lap was a 3'17.xxx

the fact that i did the first stint on the same hard tires as the AI

Please go over the race rules again. :D

We (the human racers) are not supposed to run on the same tires as the AI.

So like I said, please take the time to read through the first post properly then race the race again... If you feel like it.

No pressure, but as usual, it is great to have another racer with us.

Good luck in your runnings, till next time,
-Kent

Gave this a shot with an old "Tried & True"...

Mazda 787b - 799 bhp - 904 kg - 20'30.329

Ran a very clean race. Easily caught the leaders on my first pit out lap. After my second pit, I caught 2nd, 3rd and 4th on the Lap 5 out lap. Passed the lead AI on the last lap, just exiting the Playstation Chicane, for an easy victory. Last lap was a 3'12 and change. The 787b is still a marvelous car, great handling, superb brakes. But it's getting a bit long in the tooth, and just doesn't have the "grunt" of the Bentley (I'll be attempting with that bad boy, next).

Is it required that we get tires on both pits? Sure didn't need them on the second pit ...

23'26.894 daan RX8 LM (550hp/1045kg)
24'09.590 LoudMusic RX8 LM (550hp/1045kg)

Damn. 43 seconds slower than daan. I guess that whipe-out at the end of the staight had a pretty significant impact. Missing the draft for two laps really hurt my straights.

Are you sure you're on the right tires LM? Even with the JGTC cars, I'm sure by 2 or 3 laps they would still need new tires.

Yeah, pretty sure. I pitted on four and five. Four they were needing it, but of course five was a waste of time. I held off until four so I could catch the draft from the lead car, but got a little heavy in the dirt on an early corner and he got away from me.

None of the other cars pitted at all.

*Please follow the instructions carefully*[/b]
For example, the initial tire selection is racing-hard. However, this is only so the AI will compete on racing-hard tires.
Once you enter the race quick-tune options are used to change your tire type to racing-soft. This will change your tire type and not theirs.
You did see this bit, didn't you?

Yes, that's what I did. The AI never pit and I only had to pit once because of tires. Since you raced the RX-8 too, what did you experience with tires?

Hiya "LM":
You did see this part:

Miscellaneous Rules:
2 Pit Stops Must Be Made
No Pit Stops On The Final Lap

right??? ...O.G. :D

I just pitted at the end of lap 2 and 4. I didn't need to pit, just decided to split the race up into equal segments. I was 10 secs up on the AI at my first stop.

EDIT: Good point, well made Bob :dopey:

Where do you win this RX-8 LM? I'd like to give it a spin :D

YES YES YES!

Clarification: I suck at GT4 - that's why my time is so crappy. But I'm not particularly hard on tires, so that's probably why I didn't have as much tire wear. I got four laps out of a set of Racing Softs. I drafted the first three laps on the bumper of the McLaren, lost him on the first set of corners on lap 4, and wiped out at the end of the straight. Then I pitted on mild orange tires end of lap 4, missing the back markers for drafting by about 5 seconds, and again (by requirement) on lap 5.

I'll run through it again tonight and double check all my settings.

EDIT:

Where are you guys ending up in the pack? And who are your competitors? For GT class, that is.

Yeah, I got in front of the McLaren a couple times but couldn't hold it off. He'd draft up on me and blow past. I guess that keeps us both moving faster, but there were several corners I was way slow. I don't race Le Sarthe much, in fact I don't remember completing a lap before this challenge (:

You're allowed to use softs.

I had the McLaren and the Esperante as well. Damn Esperante ran me off the road more than once. A friend sitting behind me said, "Hey, rubbin` is racin`!" - I wanted to slug him in the gut (:

Hi again "LM":
With the "FAST AI" Combo (Mac & Panoz) the best I've finished is 2nd...about 5 Seconds behind the Winner.
With the "SLOW AI" Combo (the time I posted) I finished first by 12.565 Seconds.
Running on "Softs" & pitting on Laps #2 & #4.

Hope this Helps! 👍 ...O.G. :D

Just had a go with the Motul Pitwork Z and managed a 22'32.xxx but I had a couple offs again :(. I'll be back for another run tonight to clean it up :D

I saw that and thought, "Yay, I'm still ahead of him." And then I saw the 22 part!

Not only that, but he did it with "a couple offs". There's no hope for me.

Ok, ran the Bentley...much better results.

BENTLEY Speed 8 - 800 bhp - 900 kgs - 20'21.659

I know where I lost that 4.1 seconds to you, O.G. ...a bad bobble exiting Michelin Chicane on Lap 2 (stayed on track, but lots of reverse lock under full power), and being blocked and rubbin' with the 88C-V through the Esses on Lap 3.

Top speed was 243 mph, drafting the R92C and Sauber into the Playstation Chicane on Lap 5.

For the record:

3'19.500 - 3'15.624 (Pit in) - 3'41.632 - 3'15.142 (Pit in) - 3'38.848 - 3'10.913

VERY Close "NQ": 👍 My Fast Lap was 3'10.829 on that run! ...O.G. :D
