The problem was though (as it is today for many), that you were still essentially paying $70,000 for a Corvette. And I'm quite sure it would have been very hard to actually find one for 70k, because most were sold closer to 100k due to dealer mark up. Additionally, the ZR-1 wasn't faster in any way than the NSX until '93. Besides, the NSX outhandled it (as great a handling car as the Corvette was, it was simply too heavy) and was far easier to service.
The only ones that actually sold when the NSX was were the McLaren F1 (which cost anywhere from 750k to 1.25 million during it's life time) and Lamborghini Diablo (which had 4WD, 400+ BHP and a 250k price tag), which isn't exactly a fair comparison considering the car was designed to be better than the Porsche 964, Ferrari 348 and Lotus Esprit Turbo.
However, I will be fair. The NSX was never a supercar. It was merely whatever you could call a V8 powered Ferrari, and by 1995 you could get better car for you money (namely, Porsche 993 and Ferrari F355).
The Gallardo is a joke. The Z06 is not slower than it in anyway. I would believe the other two, though.
