It amazes me that a car with such a big rear end can have such a small trunk. Something American cars used to known the opposite for.
 
Is it not true that the actual volume of that boot is actually normal but it's the width of the opening that lets it down?

Bingo.

The trunk itself isn't exactly small, 11.3 cu. feet. Just the opening is small.
 
11.3 cubic feet isn't terribly large. And in a car the size of the Camaro, it's pretty bad.

True. That was a smaller car, but they basically put the petrol tank in the boot, which meant that there was no boot.

Fuel tank was moved from under the trunk to behind the rear seat. Australian market Monaros also applied this change, IIRC.
 
I wonder if it will get the same 7-speed transmissions as the Corvette..
 
I'd be willing to bet that it gets the LT1, with the 7-speed manual (probably with the rev matching), and optional active exhaust - just like the Stingray. I'd even bank on the 8-speed automatic being available out the gate.

I think the bigger questions right now are which powertrains they go with, below the LT1. Its fairly obvious that the 3.6L V6 will be available (its in everything these days), but, which four-cylinder option gets set out on the table. As it stands, the current 2.0T engine lacks a lot of refinement and power compared to the new Ford 2.3T... So, unless GM has something new under their sleeves, or, they're slapping a turbo on the 2.5L I4, I have no idea where they're going with this.

I had a convertible current model Camaro as a hire car for a few days (before it broke) and it was a nightmare to reverse even with the reverse camera view. I felt like I needed the roof down to go backwards in it but even that took about 3 months to retract. It's put me off Camaros somewhat :indiff:

Well, hey, the 'M' looks like an homage to the old red/white/blue logo they used for years on the car. That's neat. Makes me wonder if that'll be returning to the sides of the car once again?
