Maybe we could start somewhere between 7th and 12th?

I wouldn't. I would always start first if that were the case. It's no challenge as it is. Just make the AI better first, in my opinion.

I don't see the point in having to qualify for the shorter races, but the longer championships I think you should have too.

Why not both? If there were an easier way to match your car to the AI (and the AI to you - Prologue was "fine" in that regard) then you could still make the challenge yourself (you have to please everyone...) and have close races, battling with only a few cars.

Bring in the "mentality" aspects from B-Spec, but obviously leave out the retarded low-level drivers, and it could be fun to push them hard into making mistakes etc, or have them hunt you down in the closing stages of a race.


The features are there, they just need tweaking. Yes, start with the AI's raw speed - preferably as an option - but without qualifying, you'll be left out to dry in seventh every race!

I feel it will eventually come in one of the next patches. Shame that 90% of their true fan base will have already completed it by then!

My idea would be to have a grid based on power output. Too much power at the back, Underpowered and you start at the front. However real qualifying is very much missed, Especially for the championships and 5 tier races. I'm always at a massive disadvantage at those races, especially when you use and underpowered car to make a challenge for yourself. It can become impossible when that bender in first drives off.

Yeah, fine. But you'll still have to battle forwards from seventh. Meaning, the "close racing" idea is still compromised if you're hell bent on winning.

If finishing seventh isn't a problem for you, then it's great - but not everyone's like that.

The reason for racing is to get to the first place before the race finishes. If you are already first prior the start,....mmmmh where´s the fun?

The fun is in keeping that position. That's why AI who can manage close racing is important.

So you give the option to qualify like they had in previous games. If you choose not to qualify then you start at the back of the pack. Ergo more "challenge".

Granted it would be nice if they had better AI so that qualifying might actually require focus...But hey that's what online is for IMO. Real people > AI

No complaints about starting 7th, but I'd enjoy randomizing it a bit.

Or, maybe a drop-down with options: you could choose your exact starting position, or you could choose 'random', or you could choose 'qualify'.

The difficulty level in GT5 is fully customizable, this would be anotehr way to customize it. For the folks who have a nightmare time getting to the front in the Historic race at Monaco, they could choose to start in first. Maybe adjust the reward upwards or downwards, depending on start position.

I agree. Only time I used it in GT4 was when one of the AI took off like a rabbit and, even though I was faster, by the time I passed all the moving chicanes I didn't have time to catch him. But was nice to have in cases like that.
