- Apparently for speeding in the pit lane.

What happened to the other Toyota guys? sorry just got back

Actually for spinning it's wheels in the pits, which is not allowed for safety reasons.

It was involved in a crash with the #3 and the #81 about an hour or so into the race in a huge downpour on slicks, the other cars retired but this car survived but lost 9 laps.

It was in the pits for about 10mins around 30mins ago to solve a handling issue but are back on track 12 laps down.

I guess those guy have not seen TUSC... when they leave the pit, they leave half the tire on the ground behind them.

You mean #8 I suppose? They were involved in a freak crash close to the start of the race that left out Audi #3 and Ferrari #81. Nobody was at fault. The Toyota suffered only bodywork damage.

Le Mans Hour Nine:

Mark Webber was still in the #20 Porsche, and doing pretty well too. However, he missed his braking point at the Arnage corner, in an accident that looked remarkably similar to the mistake from Hartley earlier on. He continued on with no problem, only losing a few seconds.

Nicolas Lapierre had an issue, forcing the #8 Toyota into the garage. Fortunately, it was a relatively short stint in the garage, and the car got underway again within a few minutes. The #12 Rebellion also had a brief period in the garage following a lost wheel, and did not leave the garage for a fair bit of time. However, timing listed it as back out on track by 10:40PM GMT.

The #48 Murphy car was still parked at the Porsche Curves, which almost certainly means that the Murphy team were retired. Neel Jani had an off at Arnage, losing a couple of seconds by meeting the gravel.

Stefan Mucke was now behind the wheel of the GTE PRO leading Aston Martin #97. However, Ollie Gavin was less than a second away in the second placed #73 Corvette. Elsewhere in GTE, the Dempsey Porsche was handed a three minute penalty for spinning its wheels in the pitlane.

The #1 Audi, now driven by Marc Gene, had a bit of a moment at the first Mulsanne Chicane, out-braking himself and barely avoiding the gravel traps. The #91 Porsche was having an extended spell in the pits, reportedly with a fuel cell issue. Patrick Pilet, who’s currently behind the wheel, is some five laps down on the GTE PRO leaders.

So, after nine hours, the #7 Toyota, now being driven by Alexander Wurz, still leads in LMP1 ahead of the #2 Audi of Marcel Fassler, who, despite not really gaining, is also not losing time to the Austrian. LMP2 is still being led by Jann Mardenborough in the impressive new Ligier LMP2.

GTE PRO is led by Stefen Mucke, with an advantage of five seconds over Ollie Gavin and Gianmaria Bruni, who are within a second of each other. The #98 of Pedro Lamy still leads the GTE AM class, while the sister #95 car runs in second.

With all the Shell signage along the pit garages and the fact the fuel tanks are buried underground, does the pit lane at the Circuit de la Sarthe qualify as the world's largest gas station?

You're welcome. Adam46 has made hourly summaries which are quite complete, you could search for them in the thread if you want to catch up.

Looking at the time and scoring from the FIA, Toyota doesn't seem to have an advantage any longer. Earlier Toyota was having up to a 2 second advantage. In night the pace is overall slower, times averaging in the 28-30 second range. The #1 Audi ran a 27 the last lap to the Toyota's 28. It seems like its how traffic gets caught, speeds seem to be even.

Might partially be due to the Audi's laser lights. I know I'd feel more confident to push harder if I could see further.

I wasn't posting them all earlier. All of them are on my page, linked in my sig, though. They'll all be here from now if I remember, however.

15 minutes till I rejoin the action. Senna till then

Interesting that PatDemps got a penalty

And where's the FrenchMau5 at in terms of gap to Jann?

#2 a lot of vibrations in high speed corners.

WEC timing app showing a gap of 2:09.008 between P1 G-Drive Jann and P4 Panciatici's awe5omenessmobile.

Audi (sorry I missed it's number) with high speed vibrations.

oh well tree'd

That penalty on the 77 is bogus. A lap for spinning your tires? That's absurd.

Jann is flying.

Audi looks like it's going through hyperspace!

Let's hope it's just tyre wear. Wouldn't be fun if the last contender to Toyota dropped off :indiff:

Specially the once named "Young Audi", it's the only LMP1 car I can fully support besides Porsche #20.

Corvette had trouble with the airjack [earlier in the race]... it broke and that's what caused them 4 minutes in the pits. The Corvette team is bit upset about the issues, but they think they still have strong chance.

I don't exactly understand why they were penalised? Did the driver do what the F1 drivers do at the warm-up lap to rubber their grid spot?

I really hope they get close together again. Toyota deserves to win (as much as any other team) but I don't want them to get it easy..

The 2 and the 7 are lapping even. Surprisingly, Marc Gene is the fastest guy on track in the 1, averaging times a second quicker that the 2 and 1.

Also at some point the 14 made up a lap, not sure when that happened.

I'm assuming he just spun them leaving like an IndyCar would.
