I wanted the full experience, so I put one of my 1080p monitors in portrait mode. Got cams for the Nismo pit, Nismo LMP2 car, #73 vette, #74 vette, Corvette pit, Audi cams, Radio le mans cam, Autosport live feed, spotters guide, live timing, and twitter feed for all of the teams.

But the electric power plant they developed won't do crap on heavier car without the aero. Why wouldn't they develop it in the proper condition of an LMP1 legal car?

Two reasons:

- Make History (Which was one of their objectives)
- Start early on development

Sure the 2015 car will be different but by already having a two year start on development of a powerplant at all, they've hit their benchmarks and from there will develop it into a more competitive package.

Looks like the battle has been won by @MHPALA!

That's hardcore Le Manism!

But doing it for history is like I already said, to do that kind of stuff publicly is for the marketing rather than focusing on applying hybrid to an LMP1. And one isn't being planned to my knowledge, somebody made an internet concept rendering, but again Don Panoz owns the rights to it and Heaven knows Panoz isn't getting a street car off the ground.
Doing this allows them to get:
Hybrid knowledge
Mega publicity
A world record

Doing LMP1 now would get them:
Experience, but a package as rough as the ZEOD probably
Mild publicity
No records/bragging rights/brand image stuff

Also, as pointed out before, the Nissan Bladeglider uses all the DW principles. That's very nearly production ready, and they're deadly serious about it.

Battle in GTPRO still raging on! 1 second gap between Senna/AMR and Milner/'Vette!

Also, let's not forget that the ZEOD didn't fail because the design was stupid. The gearbox broke.

It's still awfully ironic to still see its commercials

I already went over this, making history on this project was a marketing effort and was wasteful when looking at their actual LMP1, cus they said they were looking at a future LMP1 effort from the start. So they wasted money on a completely different chassis with different aero and weight that was slower than a GTE-Am car when on electric. They don't have a 2 year jump because they could've been working on the car 2 years ago and tested and developed a hybrid system right on an LMP1 car. So they misused 2 years of development to make history, which is irrelevant to the actual performance of a car. Basically they won a 1-man race while the other manufacturers worked on their LMP's.

This can be summed up with "I THINK I KNOW BETTER THAN ONE OF THE WORLDS LARGEST CAR MAKERS WITH A COLLECTIVE MIND OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE EVEN THOUGH ITS JUST ME SITTING HERE WHINING ON THE INTERNET"

Problem with the bladeglide is the patent and copyright issues of the original DeltaWing design. But the ZEOD makes me lose respect for Nissan because if they were a serious competitor who wants to win they wouldn't waste time on a frivolous marketing effort. If they had the desire to win the publicity would come in the victory itself. I mean even now, what are people gonna care more about, the ZEOD breaking 24 minutes in or the actual winner of the race?

Irrelevant and unconstructive post that was.

Time attack sound's better .... lol

The interviewer sux so bad.

Joe Bloggs will care about the world record, which might make it to the news. On the news = lots of publicity. LMP1 = appeals to a saturated market. You seem to forget that Nissan are a huge car brand who need an image, and marketing.

They're going to introduce their LMP next year. They're gonna try and win as well, I reckon - would be stupid not to try.

And Nissan's been doing quite well for themselves in Motorsports, of late. Their GT-Rs have been doing quite well in various GT championships, lots of LMP2s are running Nissan engines and, as mentioned, their LMP1 entry is well underway. /edit: And I forgot that they're involved with Red Bull Racing due to Infinity as well...

The ZEOD might or might not be your cup of tea (it isn't mine, that's for sure), but it's vastly more intelligent, from a marketing standpoint, to do something that stands out in addition to your more conventional efforts.

Except Nissan didn't waste anything. They spent money on new technologies. They succeeded in there aims and gained a lot of positive publicity. The electric ZEOD, the NISMO / GT Academy runners - LMP1 next year is a natural culmination for them.

Much like every single one of yours bashing the ZEOD. They have their reasons. You don't know them, but Nissan has reasons for choosing the Car 00 route over LMP1 many of which can be speculated here but unless you work for Nissan, which I doubt you do, you don't know, neither do I.

Also, you're calling a development platform for the electric car pointless... And saying a racing car powered by fossil fuels would be less pointless. Do you see the stupidity?

Obviously they want marketing but as a race fan am I suppose to respect marketing or the drive to win? If they had the drive to win their marketing would be done through the success of their top program against the other top manufacturers and show case technologies in the way they do.

Oh well, it's been fun while it lasted, but I've got to get some sleep. See you in a few hours, guys. 👍

What is point of Garage 56? For new technologies.

Stuart Hall wants a commentary job
