Is it black with gold side pipes? If so, I've got a pic of it on the comp.

Couldn't be bothered opening up the link.

I wouldn't call it sidepipes, i don't know what to call this..

900bhp I wouldnt call it rice.
Id call it sausage :D

Although 900bhp through the front wheels, mega mega torque steer, id hate driving it around twisty country roads.

I'd say he was lying. It is just not possible to get 900bhp out of a 2.1. It's like saying you could get 500bhp out of a 1.3 litre Mini engine.

i've got a video of it in action. 500hp doesn't give the kind of acceleration this thing has. it's been enlarged to 2.3l, and has a turbo bigger than my head...

oh, and it's 4wd, btw... think of it as a modern Audi Quattro S1 (back in the Group B days)

Not a bad, I like the fenders as well.

BTW its Kraut not Rice

That is a nice V Dub though. To bad I dont have that kinda money to kick around

In 1985, Renault got 350HP from 1.5L (http://charcell.free.fr/planet3/rallye/renault1985.html). Another 17 years' progress, and you don't think we can get 900HP out of 2.3L? (And, uh, Renault did have that 1.5L up to more than 500HP for various hillclimbs.)

Run methanol, massive turbos, and a mattress-sized intercooler and I don't think 500HP from the MINI engine is impossible.... ;)

Man, you would think after spending that kind of money he could have converted it to AWD. How could you possibly drive around with 450hp at each front wheel. I am sure there is some form of Audi's quattro or some VW AWD system that would slap right in there. that car will NEVER perform to its full potential.

Yes, it's a de-stroked Audi 5 cylinder. I think it used to be like 2.3L and he took it down to 2.1. This way, he can run higher revs. He runs an AWD system, and the 900hp is an estimate since he can't keep the wheels from spinning on a dyno when the boost comes on.

He's running fourty-five pounds of boost in that thing. That's the reason he hasn't put in the Audi aluminium block he has sitting in the garage - he's not sure the block can handle the boost. The power-to-weight ratio was his big desire. He's way past NASCAR, and really close to CART and F1 territory.

The interior is all carbon-fiber. Literally. The dash, steering wheel, seat (yes there's only one), everything. The entire back end of the car is made up of the radiators, fans and all of the fluids. The 'side-pipe' you see is the business end (4") of a custom-made muffler that sits just behind the driver and looks to be about the size of a coffin (;)).

About $500,000 is the estimate for the car's build cost. Easily one of the most insane street cars ever built. If anyone has the "Full Throttle" montage video from the Taner site(s), you can see this car in action (albiet with a slightly different paint job). Also, there is an article on it in an old Sport Compact Car. I don't remember what issue, but it was the one with the 6 WRXs in it. :)

how can a FWD car do something similar to this?

I think he's right. The rear tires are smoking way early in the turn as the power comes on, right when the fronts start spinning. Always loved that Audi 5-pot. :)

If I didn't know better, I'd guess I was blind for not having seen that earlier. I'm still wondering what those "cans" are just under the bumper. Fuel pumps?
