High speed ring has no sharp turns so this shouldn't be a hard challenge.

Course: High Speed Ring

Car: Jaguar XJ220 (max out the horse power)

Drive Setting: Manual Only

Wheels: any wheels (super soft are best)

The person who gets the highest speed and lap time wins.

good luck. rember to setup the suspension so the car wont woble up and down at high speed turns.
 
Great challenge.  You can probably already count me out because of the manual shifting.  :)

I'll give it a shot, though.
 
I did my run in a test session for a race. I sold the car afterward.

50.199 @ 194.69 mph.
 
I'll get these challenges done today.
 
this isnt my best but my first shot im not used to manual or mid rear drive but here it is 50.953 @197.43 mph

I was referring to the other challenge I was in at the time...  ;)  I don't know if I'll be able to complete this one or not.  I might not be able to afford a XJ220 right now.  :cry:

Hey I get it, I know how to shift. When the tach reaches th erdline, shift (when accelerating) and decelarating, wait until it hits the rpm # it started at in that specific gear (example, when a car shifts to 2nd, the tach meter will go back to around 3500rpm and then build to the next gear. to shift back to first, wait until the tach reads about 3500rpm and down shift) am i right? or close to being right?

I would like to know this too.  Downshifting is really the only thing I don't understand.
 
I CAN'T DO IT!! Downshifting is too distracting. YOu have to watch the tachometer go down and while you're watching it, you go into a turn and hit the wall and don't know it because you are worried about when to downshift. I tried it on the high speed ring with the civic type R, shifting was a challenge by itself, I can't see doing it with a 945hp supercar.
 
In stead of watching the tach listen to your engine, I use to play all my racing games in auto an I drive ( in real life) a manual. Until one day I started practicing in manual an it became a natural for me. Trust me, your speeds go higher an your times go down an you truly enjoy your racing games much more......

Ok ppl, here is the time to beat.  49:146  Top speed 193.78
888 HP on the car and some suspension mods.  That was done in about 10 laps or less.  
Just a footnote, my room mate just beat that (using my car, of coarse)  with 49:041  196mph.  He run about 25 laps to achieve.  Later ppl.

Thats strange... I always listen to the RPMs and I only look at the meter for mph. I could probally get the same time for the race even if you covered the RPM gauge on the screen.

Downshifting is so that the RPM meter doesnt lose any RPM through the turn. So If I downshift and brake the RPM and acceleration will go smoothly instead of constant revving.

I like manual because I have more control, and cars that are sold at the dealers (in real-life) which are manual cost alot less. Like a couple of thousands. :o

 true drifta ,,When it comes to downshifting ,don,t look ,rather listen & feel, you will come to know the shift points of the car and the track. It,s the only way to race ,once you get the hang of it you won,t be able to go back to automatic lol
 
I still catch myself looking at the RPM gauge most of the time.
 
True Drifta ,don't worry about the rpms except when your upshifting ,    to get the most out of your torque, if you go into the red for a sec or half it's ok ,unless your car has a short red band.  You'll get it ,lol, it's a matter of pausing while your braking before you downshift
 
O.K. guys, I did the challenge over the weekend but didnt bring my records with me, Ill post them tomorow. I was close with the times and Ill see if I can do more tonight then Ill give you the times I have down.
 
Good times cerbera.  Your the time to beat now.  I like good competition.  Lets get some numbers ppl.  Ill try again to beat that time since I only ran 10 laps the first time.  Ill let you know in a couple of days.  
BTW, welcome as a new member.  
 
thanks misnblu, I was hopin to be competitve.  I got even better time with my cerbera LM. Less horsepower but lighter and handles better.
